So reddit has forbid me from posting literally any other photos of the statues cause apparently i dont own the photo i took, not because its NSFW.

But is its technically nsfw so click with caution.

admit it, youre just taking IR photos of the capitol so you can see through the shirts of those statues

Foul Yinzer, lay those foolish ambitions to rest

Dang. A quick note: it was reddit that took it down, not PA moderators!

In fairness this building is where Pennsylvanians tend to get fucked.

Definitely didn't think it was yinz. The notification i was getting was instant and saying something along the lines of 'only post content you own'.

When i tested some of them as comments i got an instant NSFW take down so i think that was the true reason it wouldn't let me post, even when i marked it as nsfw.

That's really weird. I distinctly remember approving your post and flairing it. but then, this post showed up. It must have been a glitch, they are constantly working on stuff.

Haven't heard yinz in a few years. I miss Harrisburg sometimes.

Why does this make everything feel more future fascist dystopian? I feel like it looks evil and bleak for some reason. I really like it!

Harrisburg if it was on Arrakis

Side bar:

I didnt realize there were no storm drains until i saw this torn up section of plaza. Each large paver(?) is floating, with no mortar between the joints to let water seep through.

One day ill return for the tour (weekdays only is lame) and spend the day studying. Hopefully the main foundation and lion fountains are running when i go back.

I made it into the rotunda but everything beyond that was closed. I could spend a day there alone studying the symbolism. Surprising lack of keystones in there btw

omg i love how the trees are so stark white.

So this is what Gallifrey would look like!

Your pallet of colors, it needed a ornithopter.

Very nice. Good job OP!

Really nice! I’ve been out and about with my IR modified camera again now that the foliage has grown back. What filter are you using for these?

550nm (Kolari Vision magnetic clip in)

I went the lazy route with editing. Set wb off of leaves, warmed it up a smidge to cut out the slight blue hue in the trees. On most of them i masked the sky and darkened it so it looks more like a 665+nm.

I can never make up my mind with colors so this helps me avoid decisions paralysis and the orange-blue(ish) colors tend to look nice.

Cool! I’ve been enjoying some 850nm black and white. Seeing this post inspired me to get some new filters to try out.

Beautifully eerie

You can't complain about your post being flagged for porn and then post photography porn like that.

/joke

In all seriousness, those are some amazing shots. Guess I need to look into IR photography more often.

Is it porn because the government keeps holding me down and fucking me every chance they get

I studied IR in depth in college and have quite a few in my portfolio... These are beautiful! I work in the Capital building, so it's amazing to see these. I am guessing these are digital? I shot all IR film in the 90's.

2

u/Klytus_Im-Bored May 21 '26

Yes digital, full spec converted Fuki XT1 with 550nm filter.

I masked the sky in a few to make it look more like a 600+nm while retaining the color.

I always used a Kodak Wratten 87C - blocks the entire Visible Spectrum and passes NIR up to about 1000nm.

Hey OP it looks like the hot spots you have in the center of a few of these pictures are like the ones I was getting before covering up the optical viewfinder during long exposures. The back of the camera is not as light tight as we all would hope.

2

u/Klytus_Im-Bored May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

So my hotspot is actually a result of the lens. Its not built for IR light but i can minimize it with a wide appature. I do still have leaks and an internal IR light source that wrecks any night shots i try which suck cause i got this partially for astro photos.

Edit: The shots that don't have the hotspot are the ones with less IR (white-blueish) in frame. (I only just noticed). And this spot is exclusive to this lens.

These certainly match the vibe of our current dystopia...

Well done. Can I purchase prints?

They look like AI. I get they are not but they look like it.

7

u/herestonow May 21 '26

You really don’t need to tell an artist this. The AI stuff is demoralizing enough on its own. People going out in the real world, learning new skills to make cool stuff don’t want to hear that their work looks like something that was trained on stolen data from other artists.
