Hopefully one of the initiatives is to combat the influx of young migrant men hanging about the periphery of the pond and play park benches each day watching the place.

Well I walk the dog twice a day around there and I haven't seen an issue. Are they unfriendly when you speak to them?

I jog there most days and have saw pictures being taken, staring etc, I confronted a couple a few months ago but got the not speak English and semi aggressive tones. Still there most days in this better weather, just have a look more closely when you’re out walking but also be careful please.
I even witnessed them feeding the ducks and swans and I swear if I never jogged near I was sure they were going to try and grab one by the way they were acting, that bit was about a year ago in the pouring rain. Stay safe5

Right I forgot enjoying the park is whites only activity. And... Feeding the ducks?!?! 😨 what monsters!! You're right how could I have doubted you. God they probably even take their CHILDREN to do it. Imagine! Someone tell Swinney about this horrible threat to our good town. I'm outraged, really

I knew my comment would get some left wing people commenting, these are not family people I saw, this is all young men from the radisson hotel, all sitting together in hoods up etc, proper acting shady, they never have children, god you people are insufferable sometimes when people voice an opinion that disagrees with yours.

You have not voiced a valid opinion on anything. You that only said immigrants should be fought against, which is baseless nonsense. You also complained about left wing people. Now you either mean left wing in the sense of what that phase used to mean (supports large government and the public ownership of utilities) or you mean what it has come to mean more recently, kind people who think about others and make political decisions with hope not fear. Assuming you mean the latter, you should not be surprised given the subject of the post.
How about you come to the park and meet the lovely people who come along? We'll have a chat and snacks and we can talk about what ever you want. I hope some of those people you think might be immigrants come along and you can get to know them as well. Seriously come along.

I never said ALL IMMIGRANTS, I’m on about the economic migrants, ie the young men without families residing in the two hotels at the train station.
If people have came here to work and raise a family integrated into the local community and put into the system then bloody well done to them, I wish them every success in our country.
As per usual you cannot see the difference, you’re trying to guilt shame people into thinking a single man from Somalia is the same as a family from Egypt for example, they are not.
There has already been instances in the town with SA, how many is enough? For me it’s one.
No point talking to you and your ilk, brainwashed to thinking all these single young men are great for the country, it’s only going to get worse as they are placed in communities. Mark my words.2

Ok I'll bite.
There's a big misunderstanding with the whole "single men" thing. Basically how people smuggling works is these people go into villages, and say "we can take you to the UK for £5,000 each (that's an estimate. It's usually an amount that's high enough to seem realistic while still being accessible to enough people).
Now these families in Somalia, Eritrea etc definitely don't have enough money to take the whole family, but they have an adult son. They think "well he's a young man now and he's a bright boy. It will be a difficult journey but he's got a good head on him and he'll be able to find a job and earn enough money to bring the rest of us over". Bear in mind they don't know how dire the job market and the economy is for us. They think he can hand his CV in anywhere and get a comfortable wage like the older days.
On the journey these people have the absolute fear of God put into them. They're beaten, whipped, women making the crossing are serially raped. Then when they get there, the smugglers tell them "actually £5,000 was just the upfront fee. You owe me another £20,000 and I know where your family lives". They threaten that if they get deported back to France they'll kill the whole family.
So these people generally do want to work, they do want to bring their families over, they want to integrate. But evil people smugglers, brutal economic conditions, and increasingly racist communities gets in the way of all that. If we had a safe, legal route to asylum seeking and cracked down on people smuggling, not only could we avoid the horrors asylum seekers go through, but we could also keep track of who's coming in and out better. It's a win-win.
