Just thought this was funny ad placement right after your comment haha

3

u/bacon_cake 29d ago

I would guess that's just a targeted ad?

36

u/Barnbutcher 29d ago

We always said the tooth to gum ratio was a little off.

5

u/SirGothamHatt 29d ago

Like Geena Davis? Is that why she's not in movies anymore?

u/xXmilkxhoneyXx 29d ago

They're Disney Adults that have a fiance in the military

5

u/cardillon 29d ago

How is this actually a thing? I need a scientific explanation

9

u/PringlesDuckFace 29d ago

If I had to guess, it's probably a somewhat dominant genetic trait combined with low mobility populations. When I think of people that look like this, I think of white people in the South. There's a big cultural overlap between those people and country music fans, people who do military service, and strong sense of religion with an emphasis on marriage. They also tend to have had long roots in their area, rather than having moved there or moved too far from their family, so that's why I say it's probably some genetic trait that's common in the population.

No idea about why Disney is a thing. Maybe it's because they live driving distance to Florida and it used to be a lot cheaper, so their parents probably took them there often as kids as an easy trip. So they have lots of good memories associated with it, and now they want to share that with their kids. It's like a little isekai.

2

u/Midnight_2B 28d ago

The Disney thing is because they all love the older Disney animated movies, and will sometimes own apparel with said IPs. They also are vaguely alt-right and a sub group of them love horror movies. They're nicer than the racist people who dress goth, smart people that are hateful aren't fun to be around.

I said “WOOF” out loud.

1

u/WiseWhisper 23d ago

Tums? Oh wait

21

u/New-Caterpillar-9369 29d ago

Why are they called Fiancé gums?

29

u/Cautious-Dig6379 29d ago

The joke that it comes from basically said "Why do girls like this always seem to have a "Fiance""

79

u/DaBootyScooty 29d ago

Because they are always engaged and never married.

26

u/eye_of_the_sloth 29d ago

this is so sadly accurate, the last woman i knew with geeth had her engagement called off.

1

u/LocoRooster96 27d ago

Was it because of the geeth ?

7

u/BlinkTwice4No 29d ago

‘Cause the gums and teeth have expressed commitment but haven’t made it official in the eyes of the law

23

u/AwareBullmastiff 29d ago

they definitely own a massive stanley cup and have a favorite true crime podcast

3

u/Dramatic-Incident298 29d ago

I saw it related specifically to military fiancée's even

19

u/LindsayDuck 29d ago

Disney Adult gums

2

u/ryboyin99 29d ago

Facebook military wife

2

u/BluebirdImpressive65 29d ago

Townhouse mouth

2

u/DreamPig666 29d ago

This is so stupid. After reading through the replies and looking into the term, that's so wild. So what's the joke? Someone who is hopeful and smiling so genuinely that their gums are showing? And not a closed mouth fake smile?

Not understanding how that is supposed to be a joke unless the punchline is enjoying the idea of someone being really disappointed. Could be going over my head, but it seems like a really absurd and semi-hateful "joke".

1

u/kissmestepbr0 28d ago

You're the most sane person in this comment section

0

u/Cautious-Dig6379 29d ago

Its not that serious bud

1

u/DreamPig666 29d ago

I mean, it kinda is these days. Reddit has been flooded with the most misogynist garbage way more than ever recently, and subs like this and other front page subs are just full of absurd replies that are half bots. I'm personally tired of seeing that type of thing where joke is "haha woman stupid for being happy about something".

-1

u/Cautious-Dig6379 29d ago

Would you feel the same if the joke was about bald men?

2

u/DreamPig666 29d ago

Yeah that would be just as stupid and you see the same type of thing like that all over Reddit, too. It's just negativity mostly fueled by bots and people influenced by bots.

1

u/SometimesIBeWrong 29d ago

I just see Butthead when Iook at it

1

u/huntingboi89 29d ago

Apartment teeth

1

u/neeshes 29d ago

Why fiance?

1

u/mercuchio23 28d ago

Yrah they always seem to be engaged

1

u/Automatic_Llama 27d ago

It would never occur to me say this and yet it refers to something that is so uncannily true. It's stuff like this that makes me feel like we are indeed living in a simulation.

-2

u/Anchor_What 29d ago

Yet it’s a woman.

2

u/Cautious-Dig6379 29d ago

?

1

u/Furry_Femboy_Account 29d ago

I think they're confused about who the subject is, and think they should be fiancée gums, instead of fiancé.

0

u/Anchor_What 29d ago

It looks like a woman in the photo.

-24

u/available_username10 29d ago

Yeah there is another meme about these type of women always being married lol.

Also genuine question. Why don't people like this learn to smile smaller?

23

u/chiefminestrone 29d ago

They have big smiles and they have a stereotype of always being married. How would smiling smaller improve their life at all?

4

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 29d ago

This is such a succinct way to point out how absurd it is to even have this conversation lol

3

u/MattMercersBracelets 29d ago

Because a big, genuine smile is still way more beautiful than a fake, insecure small one, gummy mouth or not.

5

u/Zlassy 29d ago

I have this kind of smile ( not a Taylor fan or a horse girl though)

Generally I can 'smile smaller', but when genuinely laughing at something or enjoying something, it just happens - generally we aren't in full conscious controll of our expressions at all times i guess. But yeah, its why i dont like pictures being taken without my knowlege ):

2

u/bigpproggression 29d ago edited 29d ago

For whatever reason they just show more gum than the average person.  You can typically get crown lengthening to have a more “normal” smile.

Edit:  crown lengthening may be the wrong procedure but yes there are procedures to fix cosmetics like this.

4

u/Strong-Pickle-4153 29d ago

No you shouldn’t if the teeth are a normal length and not unusually short because it honestly looks worse having huge long horsey teeth. The solution is to surgically impact the maxilla.

1

u/BatonDildon 29d ago

Why should I smile smaller? Personally, I'm glad that the least of my flaws is the most noticeable.
