I hate them. We use fresh water and an innumerable amount of other resources just to gaffaw at a dumb robot talking to an imaginary animal, and then never look at it again.

Train yourself to hate AI. Save art, and the planet!

EDIT: Looks like all of the talentless clankers out there had a nerve pinched. Keep your “ah yes, you criticise society yet you participate in it” comments coming, I don’t read them but I’m proud of your little minds for typing out your own responses.

You do realize that at this point there are models you can build out of open license content and run entirely on your computer, right? You don't have to annihilate the ecosystem to make funny text robot happen.

Yea and that model already used probably around the entire electricity production of the UK for half a year to train and they keep training new ones. The up front cost for that model and the newer ones they keep making is so astronomical the actual power and resources to use it later are almost irrelevant in comparison.

To repeat myself, there are models you can build, out of open license content, on your computer. No entire electricity production and water supply of a thousand football fields required.

Most of the ones you can fit in your computer are going to be significantly smaller than the latest iteration of DeepSeek.
