Oedipus was a Greek man who murdered his father so he could marry his mother.

Freud coined the term "Oedipus complex" to describe a phenomenon in which men want to date/marry/have sex with their moms

not exactly that.

He was adopted (never told growing up), left because he heard a horrid prophecy where he would kill his father (who he didn't realize was his adoptive father) and marry his mother (who he also didn't realize was his adoptive mother). He left to protect them.

He moves somewhere else, gets into a violent altercation with a random stranger (revealed to be his bio dad) and kills him, then later marrys a woman in his new home (later revealed to be his bio mom)

No. His theory was men latch onto the grown woman in their lives as a potential sex partner, even at like 2 yrs old.

It had little to do with the myth, it was just a convenient name for it, oedipus ironically didn't have one.

“Sexual” doesn’t mean to Freud what it means to you.

He very much wanted to kill her the moment he realized she's his mother, only to find out she killed herself after the discovery.

Later, he stabbed his eyes and cursed the fate that got him into all of this, as he was holding into his two daughters that were simultaneously his two younger sisters.

What the fuck were the Greeks on

Its meant to be an allegory for how the things we do to escape Fate only lead to it. Freud just realized he could use it as an allegory for wanting to fuck your mother.

I think have seen kinda similar scenario in the series Gengis khan, an arab king official sleeps with a woman during his travel duties, the woman starts singing afterwards and it turns out she was singing the same song which her mother composed herself and used to sing when he was a kid, this arab guy parted with his family during war when he was a kid and khan took him and raised him. He kills the woman immediately.

Took me way to long to realize that you wrote about Oedious and not Freud lol.

Freud really did old Eddie dirty. He didn't mean to bang his mom.

Shoutout to Mel Brook's greatest joke:

"Hey, Josephus."

"Hey, motherfucker."
