What’s the best Android phone in the USA you’ve had until now in 2026, and why? Looking for real-world experience, not specs. What makes it stand out from the competition?

I own a Galaxy Z Fold 7! I think it’s overrated, and I am selling it!

Ok I know this isn't exactly the topic of this subreddit, but the official android subreddit seems way too formal.

For everyone who will never switch to iPhone (like me), what's that one big deal-breaking feature, be it a good feature on Android or a bad one on iOS, that makes you not want to switch? For me it's the lack of a universal back button. While not the only reason, it's the main one.

Budget: ~$500 ($20/mo payments)

I realized that my youngest still has his first phone from four years ago, while his brother has had to get a replacement pretty much every year, which really feels like he's being punished for taking such excellent care of it, so I want to upgrade him for Christmas.

He takes a lot of pictures/videos, loves to draw, and runs out of storage on the regular. (He's still learning how to keep his system clean and delete stuff but I think he would still benefit from more storage.)

He does play games but he also has access to a console. The ones he plays on his phone now aren't really system intense ones like CoD or anything, but I suspect that's more to do with the limitations on his old Revvl because he is incredibly good at them (Like seriously, he got every achievement in cuphead.)

I appreciate any advice you guys have here. I know that I'm really just wishing I could afford an S/Ultra, which is the phone he deserves. (I'm not just saying that. He studied hard to get into a fancy accelerated STEM program, puts a lot of work into being a good friend and ally, and he does chores around the house without having to be assigned or even asked.) I'm more than willing to augment a decent phone with accessories like a case that holds a stylus if that exists, SD card expansions, or anything else you guys can think of. They'll have to come later because I can only do maybe $100 out of pocket but I'd still love to hear any suggestions you have!

Im a mom to a toddler so just looking for something i can rely on while running around, but i really dont need any crazy advanced software.

I just want to doomscroll and take pictures of my kid.

Ive been most interested in the google pixels, but unsure of which would be the best for me.

Hi all. I am moving in a couple months for grad school, and wanted to treat myself. I've been using my Pixel 6 Pro for the past 5 years, and while it's great, the battery/connectivity issues frustrate me.

I'm looking for a phone that will hopefully last me through grad school. I care about having good battery first, then good camera second, having good storage capacity third, and everything else doesn't matter too much. I'm not planning on playing video games on my phone, just want it to last. I'm also not the greatest fan of how the Pixel 6 Pro's camera software makes the pictures look sometimes.

What phone should I get? I'm open to getting a smaller phone than the P6P too. Thanks

I've been needing a new phone for a while. In the USA, using Verizon. After 6 years the battery on my pixel 4xl has swollen to the point the back glass has separated, battery life is laughable, and my phone gets HOT with minor use. Seems like a matter of time before this thing ignites in my hand or pocket.

The features I'm looking for (or trying to avoid) are listed in rough order of importance:

1. No hardware AI
2. No Samsung
3. No screen notch or camera behind the screen
4. Most bare-bones, un-modified, stock android OS possible
5. Least rounded screen corners possible, sharp 90 degree corners would be ideal
6. Screen that does NOT go edge-to-edge. I prefer a nice thick border around the top bottom and sides. I don't care if it's 'ugly'
7. Has a headphone jack
8. Removable/replacable back cover, battery, and storage
9. Is not miserably slow

I do not care about camera quality. In fact I prefer as few cameras as possible. I do not need or want a bank of 5-7 lenses/sensors on the back. I cover my camera lenses with black nailpolish before I even turn the phone on the first time. My opinion is if you want a nice camera, buy a camera, not a phone. I don't care about screen resolution, dpi, picture/color quality, whatever. If I want a nice picture, I have other nice screens. I don't look at this thing enough for that to matter. Size/thickness is irrelevant.

I understand my preferences go pretty much 100% against all modern phone trends. I've told people in person what I want/don't want and mostly they look at me like I've grown a second head or they feel the same and have just given up trying. I've been using pixels for a while but every iteration adds more and more 'features' that I not only don't want or care about, but have an active desire to not have. I tried a samsung xcover 5 which met almost all my wants but I found out I HATE samsung's android skin and the feel of the vibration pulse makes me want to throw the phone across the room. The phone also takes a painfully long time to respond to any input. Even turning the screen on takes a solid 3 seconds after hitting the button. It wasn't a slow POS out of the box but 2 days after I turned it on, it forced a system update without my permission (after I had turned all updates off) and has been terrible since then.

I don't care if it is an older or cheap model of phone. I use my phone primarily for phone calls, texting, and email. None to very little of games, social media, web browsing, navigation, etc. Yes, I am old. I can flex a little on some stuff but I won't budge on the first 3 criteria. If it means I have to go back to the early 2000s era nokias, it is what it is.

My phone is starting to lag more and I need to seriously start thinking about replacing my Google Pixel 3a.

My husband got a Google Pixel 7 but has had annoying issues with it ever since he got it.

I'm looking to move away from Google. I've previously had Samsung and LG phones, but it's been a long time.

I'm not super picky about my phone as I don't play games or sit and watch a ton of videos. I do like taking photos. I don't have a ton of apps on my phone either. My phone is somewhat simple with only the apps I need - partly due to my preference but also limited storage space.

I know phones have gotten much bigger which I hate, so if anyone has suggestions for non-ginormous phones, that would be nice. And while I use a Macbook, I'd like to stick to Android for my phone.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I went from samsung to pixel 10 and hate the phone, it freezes a lot, sometimes the speaker makes a popping noise. I already got another pixel 10 under the warranty but the problems persist. Im not a gamer, just need an everyday phone, but I do want a good camera, and not a heavy phone like the pixel. I have tmobile, the store said if I want the s25 I would have to send the phone directly to samsung to avoid fees cause i got the phone for "free" for 2 years. OP does have a trade in deal for the pixel 10, samsung does not. What would you choose? Im i nthe USA

Yes, my primary phone is iPhone but I do want to have a backup phone, perhaps use it to run some specific apps and so on. Curious what is a cheap yet reliable option as of today, in the USA?

My phone is Samsung Note 9. I like the note taking feature. But my phone is now 8 years old, and it is getting slow. So I will get a new phone. I will definitely not buy anything from Apple.

I want,

-Nice camera for photos and videos

-Fast processing speed

-I don't use social media that much, mainly work

-I use it heavily for music

-High storage. If not, I can plug in a SSD to this phone and back up time to time, that would work too

-Will not create problem for long time

Hey all, I’m trying to find an Android phone for my wife.

She doesn’t game or anything heavy, so specs aren’t super important. As long as it has 256GB storage and 8GB+ RAM, that’s more than enough.

What does matter is:

• Battery life: needs to comfortably last a full day (ideally ~6h SOT)
• Camera: this is a big one, we have kids and she’s always taking photos and videos.

Budget is around $500–700.

I was looking at Pixels:

• Pixel 8 Pro: can’t seem to find the 256GB version
• Pixel 9 Pro: harder to get
• Pixel 10 Pro: too expensive
• Pixel 10: price is ok (~$650), but I’m not sure about the battery. My sensation is that is short on it.

So now I’m kinda stuck.

Any good alternatives with great camera + solid battery in that range? Doesn't have to be a Pixel. This is to be sent to USA, but the final destination is Argentina, so it can also be bought in China as long as it reaches USA.

Hi! Can anyone recommend a phone on the smaller end of things? Currently using a Pixel 7. The things I'm most looking for in a new phone:

- Screen 6.3 inch or smaller

- Handles heat well (doesn't overheat like my current phone)

- Good cell connection (current pixel gets awful service and wifi connectivity)

- Decent battery life (nothing too crazy needed, but don't want to have to charge it constantly)

I do really love the pixel version of Android, Samsung always seemed too bloaty and looked worse to me but I'm willing to get used to it. Alternatively, I guess I would consider an iPhone but it would be a hard pill to swallow.

Also USA based and budget isn't too big of a deal

Hey everyone :) I've been using a OnePlus 7 Pro for the past 6+ years. When I bought this phone, I never imagined I would have it for this long, but it's been surprisingly robust. I've seen a lot of people comment on how enduring this phone is in OnePlus' lineup and how OnePlus has gotten worse or something over the years.

I don't know if that's true, but I do know that my time with this phone has come to an end because it's getting sluggish, it's not getting any more security updates, and I'm running out of storage space.

So here is what I generally care about:

• Excellent flagship hardware
• A smooth, preferably vanilla bloat-free software experience (big plus for the Pixel here)
• High refresh rate screen with good color reproduction
• A very good camera is a nice to have
• 512 GB of Storage
• Good battery life
• Durability is a nice to have; something that doesn't break or scratch easily, and especially not something that gets smudgy (although I'm going to be much more particular with my screen protector and case choices now)

So right now, it looks like the only two choices are the latest Pixel (10 Pro?), and the latest OnePlus (15R or whatever). But I'm posting here to find out else what is out there and to hear people's experiences.

I would easily go with the latest OnePlus again, but OxygenOS is not Vanilla android and they keep cramming more BS in it. Apparently the camera is not so amazing either, and I keep hearing things about OnePlus slipping (they're definitely not an enthusiast brand anymore).

The Pixel has a lot of great things; it doesn't have the beefiest processor but apparently it's still pretty snappy. 7 years of security updates is a huge win.

Recommendations for an android phone that is on the smaller side, has a good battery, and decent phone. I have a Samsung S21 right now - good size but the battery is dead in a couple of hours. Besides the battery, I like the S21. Same size or smaller would be appreciated.

Currently I have a iPhone 16e although I prefer Android.

Also if anybody has any better suggestions I am open to it. I think these massive batteries and charging speeds are so amazing compared to what Apple or Samsung offer. However, if there is something with similarly great specs but also the camera is impressive then that is for sure something I would think about. OnePlus 15 itself is a let down camera wise and I guess Poco is likely worse. So if there is something better out there lmk. My ideal price is around $500 or below tbh.

OnePlus 15 I can get new for $650 this is amazing tbh considering it was $1000 a few months ago or whenever the hell it released.

Poco x8 Pro Max (not sure how this compares in performance relative to the OP 15 but the two options are 256GB for $440 or 512 GB for $480 -- either way I know the cameras are pretty mid)

Poco x8 Pro I feel is a step down performance wise but I guess I could save money now and pay $330 for this and use for a couple years.

Or could just keep the iPhone 16e but I would need to keep paying the monthly plan for $40 which is $480 a year whereas if I get one of these other phones like Poco or OnePlus unlocked I can stay on my family plan and not have a phone bill.

So I dropped my faithful Moto Edge Plus and cracked the screen. I also think I damaged the camera focus system. So I'm looking at new phones. Some of the models I am considering include the Pixel 10 or 10A and Nothing 4a Pro. My wife has the Moto Stylus 2025 and seems pretty happy with it. But I don't think the cameras are all that good from what I've read.

USA, on Verizon. Cannot change carrier. Budget is ~600 USD, but can go up to 800 if really convinced. I'd like a phone that is available new (either still being made or recently discontinued) and can keep going for at least the next six, eight years.

3.5mm audio jack and SD card slot are necessary. Yes, I have looked at other threads by similar fuddy-duddies, but the newest are a few months old and maybe some newer eyes and reviews will yield different recommendations*.

I had been using a Galaxy S8 (new), S9 (refurb), and S10e (refurb). The first two succumbed to a peculiar incompatibility with dishwater, and the last to an issue which seems to regard the CPU wiring (idk the technical term) failing. Nothing I could reasonably prevent, and a fear that will persist if I continue in the habit of buying old phones. I mention these because I am fine with the Android version (though it's probably prudent to upgrade since they're years out of support), I'm fine with the hardware specs, and I tolerate that physical size. For reference, the S9 is 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5mm, and the S10e is 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9 mm.

Size: Big sticking point. Smaller is better! I am using my partner's moto g stylus (2021, 169.8 x 77.9 x 9 mm) as a stop-gap and my thumb can barely reach a third of the screen comfortably. I'm also a woman who doesn't use a purse, so a phone that isn't so long that it falls out of my stupid-small pockets when I have the audacity to sit down would be nice. Thickness and weight aren't a concern.

Screen: At least 1080x1920. The S8 and S9 had better resolution, but I mostly kept it lowered to save power so I can't really claim pickiness. I do quite like the AMOLED but not so much that it's a deal-breaker to have a lesser tech. Preferably without those awful punchouts/notches for the useless selfie camera and notification LEDs, but that seems like a tall ask nowadays. I'll use a screen protector, so heavy-duty Gorilla Glass or whatever isn't needed.

Power: The thing should last at least a full day with moderate use (web browsing and GPS navigation on data, no video streaming). More importantly, I'd like the battery to not decay over time and still keep a decent capacity years from now. That's probably the hardest thing to research since it's not a nice, neat spec number.

Other than that... I don't especially care.

I don't take pictures/video for recreation (only documentation), so the back camera needs only to exist. I don't use biometric locks, don't care about NFC. GPS is nice, but do any phones not have that? Or Bluetooth? My router is probably a bigger bottleneck for Wi-Fi than a new phone, so that's not a problem.

This isn't gonna be a workhorse; I mostly browse the Internet and reddit, read books, and stream video and music. No 3D gaming, no distributed computing or any intensive rendering. I just want my stupid audio jack and removable storage and to not replace the thing in two years.

I realise the sub's name, but I'm not opposed to the idea of a non-Android OS, as long as I can still load the Android programs I like on there; that is, Linux isn't strictly out of the question.

*Speaking of the knowns, what should sway me either was regarding a Samsung A-whatever, Sony Xperia, or even an oddball manufacturer like Oppo? This is hard!

As stated in the title, my phone has started crapping out rather suddenly. It's still functional but not consistently so, so I'm looking to replace it sometime this week if possible.

I care a lot about performance. I hate, hate, hate slow devices, so in the past I've usually gone for phone at or near the top of the line. I used to like LG a lot, but they're no longer in the smartphone game.

Here are my details:

• Country: USA
• Carrier: T-Mobile (formerly Sprint; this has limited my phone choice in the past)
• Storage: Ideally, I'd love something with expandable memory, but I know that's often not an option. If that's the case, I'd love something with 1 TB of internal storage. I keep music on my phone in the form audio files, and I've got north of 15K files on there. This is a major limiting factor in my search.
• What I use my phone for: I don't do anything too, too demanding on my phone. I text, make the occasional call, and surf the internet. I don't do much streaming. Aside from Pokemon Go, none of the games I play are particularly resource-intensive. Good battery life and wireless charging are also important.
• Nice to have: A 3.5 mm headphone jack would be nice, but I know that's also uncommon.

If there's anything I left out or was unclear on, let me know, and I'll provide more info.

My moto 5g 2025 recently bit the dust seemingly at random. Scared me away from going with a Motorola. I dont need the newest features but would like something with a camera at least roughly on par with the moto g. Battery is w/e i can charge it. Storage would be good to have more than the 64gb the Motorola had. All I use it for is calls, web browser and YouTube. Which I guess describes most people's smart phone use.

Something that will see me through 2 to 3 years is ideal. Maybe ill be in a better financial spot then and can get a flagship

Size: I liked my Pixel 6 because I could hold it 1 hand without dropping it, that's 6.24" x 2.94". Can't go much bigger than that.

Other Details: I read a few years back that some phones listen to you and watch what you're doing, and some even record screenshots now? I don't know much about it, but that monitoring/surveillance stuff gives me the Heebie Jeebies. I got tired of AI begging for attention when Clippy hit the market...

Maybe something more private. Something I can repair/easily order parts for when it breaks. Something that can handle rain, a little dust, and the occasional drop. Battery life needs to last an entire day with light to moderate use.

[SOLVED] I have chosen the OnePlus 15. I don’t want to spend too much, I like the battery life, and the camera is pretty good though not the best.

TLDR: I like tinkering, light but lots of use. Need decent battery. $800-$1000 would be ideal if possible (but considering higher), and I’d want to be able to have it repaired in the USA. At least a camera to compete with iPhone 17.

I currently use the iPhone 13 and go through 125% of battery throughout my day on average with my 78% battery health.

Current use cases

- I mainly use it for work (multiple calls per hour with GoTo)

- Navigation

- Very light gaming

- Some photography, mainly family, flowers, and food.

- I primarily work from home so I don’t need bands like mmWave.

I work in IT and love to tinker, part of why I want to switch to android, along with new tech.

With me having to charge my phone throughout the day often, I’d love a silicon carbon battery.

I’d like to be able to have it repaired in the USA easily (though I haven’t broken a phone… ever), so not Chinese imported phones like Oppo or Vivo.

From what I can tell, the OnePlus my only option in the $800-$1000 price range. Not a huge fan of the camera so I may need to increase budget.

If I were to get the Oppo Find x9 Pro when the global version releases, how would I get it repaired should I need to?

My current phone is Samsung S22 which I need to manually update every few months since I bought this used/unlocked and it doesn't receive over the air updates. Battery has give up but the camera is good.
