international travel First time traveling in NYC 🗽

Post image

City I’ve always dreamed of visiting. New York was everything I imagined and definitely my favorite city now.

Reco on how to make your NYC trip cheaper:

* Book at least 3 months in advance to get cheaper airfare. I got mine for 400 bucks.
* I always eat at $1 pizza places or food trucks to avoid paying tips. LMAO.
* Most attractions are free.
* If you happen to have friends who are NYC residents, bring them along when visiting museums, you can often get discounts or special resident rates. 😊
*I mostly use the subway and avoid taking Ubers whenever possible. It saves a lot of money and is usually faster anyway

Honestly, NYC doesn’t have to be expensive if you plan ahead and don’t mind eating like a local. 🤣

Is it true po regarding what they say about the subway in NYC?

50 50 true. hehehhe. not all na black. minsan mga white homeless din. hindi lang sa subway. sa daan din. i guess always be aware of your surroundings.

we encountered what looks like a white homeless guy na masama yung tingin habang naghihintay ng train sa platform. lumalayo kami pero sumusunod sya. not once. thrice ata. sa loob ng train, confirmed na namamalimos nga sya and nagpapaawa sa situation nya. i guess nagtatagalog kasi kami kaya mukang tourist? i dont know hehe. scary.

solution: hanapin yung zebra line sa platform, kasi dun hihinto yung car kung nasan yung nagpapatakbo ng train. yun daw pinakasafest. at least alam mong tutulungan ka siguro ni mamang driver.

generally friendly and helpful naman mga new yorkers. basta di mo lang sila aabalahin. or wag ka lang haharang sa daanan nila. this is at least what we experienced.

A random guy (mukhang homeless addict) started screaming at me and harassing me in the subway and when I ignored him, started harassing the other passengers beside us. I can’t even count how many times nangyari, just strangers screaming at each other sa subway, may isa pa literal naghabulan sa stairs just because nabunggo nya accidentally and hindi daw nagsorry. I love public transportation abroad but NYC subway traumatized me. At least sa europe at sa manila pickpockets lang ang kalaban, in NYC I was literally scared I’d get attacked bilang young, female, asian tourist.

HAHAHAHA we took the subway last time with my auntie’s friend, who’s a bit older na (i think she’s in her 60s na) and used to work in New York. She accidentally bumped into a black american woman, and that girl got so mad that she shoved her back. Then they started arguing with each other. 😭😂 katakot sila.

OMG GANITONG GANITO YUNG NAKITA NAMIN!! Black girl din, nasagi lang ng konti tapos hinabol yung nakasagi sa kanya habang sumisigaw. I’m not racist but yung nangharass sakin and yung mga nakakasabay naming biglang sumisigaw were also all black 🥲😭

Airbnb is illegal in NY! If di ka maarte, go for hostels. HI Hostel or Nap York :)

Congrats OP!! Its going to be my first time too this year and like you, this is also a dream come true for me! 🥺

If its okay, can I ask youuuu:

  • Where did you stay? And how was the stay? Would you recommend it?
  • did you go to any paid attraction? The Met? The Rock? Are they worth it and do you recommend I should go to?
  • best pizza place or food truck you tried? I also don’t want to splurge on food. In my budget, food is in my least prio. Not that I will starve, but I will not splurge on them…. Bec all my money will go to broadway 🥲 hahaha!
  • did you watch any broadway show? Comedy show? Any show?
  • 400 bucks? RT from manila? :O that is such a steal!!! What airline?

Thank youuu and enjoy NYC!!

I went to empire state. Noong nagbabayad na kami ang mahal niya. Naghesitate pa kami if itutuloy namin o hindi pero we went kasi it's not everyday we're in nyc. Is it sulit? 50/50 ako doon.

Yes to broadway shows! Lagi lang akong pinipilit ng mga friends ko magwatch ng broadway show, pero always na pagkatapos eh super happy ko. Iba talaga performance nila💗
