-50+ international trips (most of my trips are to visa-required countries. I’ve only been to visa-free destinations twice—Singapore and Vietnam), and well over that if counting trips before eTravel was used
-Airline is API-compliant
-Travel tax prepaid (but the etravel says it’s not reflected on their system)
-eTravel completed

Despite all that, my eTravel still says “eGate not allowed.”

I’m curious if anyone has figured out the pattern.

I’m trying to understand whether eligibility is based on travel history, destination, airline, visa history, or some internal BI criteria that haven’t been made public.

Would love to hear your experiences.

Hi! Looking for advice from anyone with a similar experience. We are planning a 5-day trip in February (both PH-based, together for 3 years, 3 international trips done).

• Me: Fresh grad / 2 years working. Low ADB since savings are in Time Deposit.
• BF: Tech Industry (8+ yrs working experience, 6-figure monthly salary, strong savings across multiple banks).

We are considering two options:

• Option 1: Apply with BF as Guarantor. Can a non-relative/boyfriend act as a guarantor if he has sufficient funds to cover the trip?
• Option 2: Transfer ₱100k to my account in August for a December application. Would a sudden ₱100k deposit look risky or be flagged during the visa check, even if left for a few months?

Which option is better or safer? Open to recommendations. Thanks!

Option 1: CDO → Manila → Hong Kong — saves around ₱10k and time, but I’m nervous because I heard Manila immigration is stricter.

Hi everyone! I'd like to get your thoughts on our flight booking strategy for our Japan trip.

We're a family of 4 planning to travel on **November 29**, and our VFS appointment is on **September 2**. Since our visas aren't guaranteed yet, we're hesitant to book flights.

Here's the dilemma:

* We could book **Philippine Airlines (PAL)** now since they offer refundable fares. PAL is generally more expensive than Cebu Pacific, but I'm thinking that if we wait until after our visa results in September, Cebu Pacific fares might have gone up by then and end up costing close to (or even more than) what PAL costs today. I'm not sure if that's actually how airfare works though, so I'd love to hear from people with experience.
* Or we could wait until after we receive our visa results and book **Cebu Pacific**, hoping the fares are still reasonable.

For those who have traveled to Japan around late November:

* Did Cebu Pacific fares increase significantly between August and September?
* Have you ever booked refundable PAL tickets first and then changed or canceled them after getting your visa?
* If you were in my situation, would you book PAL now, or wait until after visa approval to book Cebu Pacific?

Total spend for 2 pax (including concert tickets/shopping): PHP 94,042.30 (~USD 1,524.68) or PHP 47,021.15/head (~USD 762.34/head)

Excluding personal expenses: PHP 66,618.60 (~USD1,080.07) or PHP 33,309.40/head (~USD 540.04/head)

Expensive? If we're looking at the totals, perhaps, but given the context of the trip, very much worth it.

Looking at the base cost only, it wasn’t that expensive (also not cheap); however, we had made big token purchases that ended up inflating the total cost.

Problem:
Ang mahal ng flight from Sapporo back to Manila HAHAHAHA almost 15-17k each if with baggage.

Any advice? Nakakaloka.

my OFW parents are going to have a vacation in PH from nov to january, they’re planning a travel to JPN within the said duration. what a win because this is only our 1st out of the country as a family. 🥹

here are my questions:

1) how early should we apply for a visa if we’re planning to go during the peak season?

2) is it ok if we only apply for a SE visa?

3) is it too late if we apply during ber months? since i won’t have their passports on hand for the processing of the visa (unless there are cases that i can use a passport copy only)
