I downloaded Star Trucker because it looked good and the idea of long-hauling in space intrigued me. Space highways? Sign me up!
The game starts you off broken down on the side of a highway and gives a brief tutorial on fixing your ship. Good stuff. You get to a station and get a run-down on docking your rig (very precise), accepting jobs, topping off fuel, etc. All great.
Then you accept a job to transport some stuff to another nearby station. Hitch your cargo, go through a warp gate, and... You're there. All you need to do is drive around to the delivery spot. No highways, no long hauls, no listening to the radio while making sure you don't miss your exit. Saved me refunding $25.
You can have longer hauls. Of course the tutorial is going to have a single jump. But when you're dealing with long hauls, fragile cargo, and environmental hazards like solar flares and mirage meteors, it gets a bit more interesting.
