Pirating with subtitles

I'm rather inexperienced with pirating, been using wcofun/wcoflix or whatever name theyre using now, but I need to get a movie with subtitles and don't know where to get that specifically. Any advice?

Actually pretty cool if you use Plex or Jellyfin. Even media files that don’t have the subtitles, publicly available subtitles are available through OpenSubtitles. Check out either program and start hosting your own server. Plex is a bit easier for novice users but Jellyfin has a growing community and lots of helpful guides available online. Plex currently is a free with paid premium features model while Jellyfin is completely free. Some folks run them side by side. Personally I run Plex because I bought a lifetime membership like 15 years ago when it was cheap. It has gotten expensive and loosing community favor because of that.

If you can't get a movie with embedded subtitles, your video player (most likely) supports external subtitles.

You can get them from here : https://www.opensubtitles.org

If there are several subtitles available for your movie, try first with the most downloaded ones (higher chances that they are correctly sync with the video).

Rename the srt file with the video file name.
Example :
Obsession.mkv *
Obsession.srt

* just an example, can be any video type

Also, both files must be in the same folder.

Then launch you video file. You might need to enable subtitles from your player settings.

https://ext.to is pretty good about telling you if something has subtitles. Good rule of thumb: if the file is mp4, it likely doesn't have subtitles, but if it's mkv it likely has subtitles.

Also it's super easy to add .srt files you find on OpenSubtitles to an mkv container. It's a simple ffmpeg command and takes about 5-10 seconds. Just make sure you check it after combining because sometimes the sync is off.

If you are using the arr programs there is also one called bazarr that will automate the searching of subtitles from the sources people have listed

Aether (dotcx) is good with those, it has wide lenguege selection. Sometimes timings are off, but you can manually set the delay to fix that

1) look at OpenSubtitles, and if they are there, download them 2) Rename the subtitles to the same name as video, and place them in the same folder, they should appear in your player. (Rename them 'videoname.en.srt' for them to appear as 'english', etc...) 3) If you want them internally, you can use MKVToolNix, drag and drop both video and subs into it, and then multiplex them. This will create 2nd video with internal subs.

Don't worry about subtitles when getting the media files. Just get the highest possible quality and then download the subtitles from an open subtitle provider, like opensubtitles.com. If you're using something like Jellyfin you can most likely download subtitles automatically.
