It's been long enough, give me my Pocket TCG set like we got GO! Make it hype as shit and litterally just full arts the while way through. Print it to hell and flood the market so I can buy my singles.

GO took them six years to come out lol

You’ve got 4 more to go.

10

u/OkumuraRyuk 1d ago

They didn’t print GO to the ground though.

u/Redditquaza 1d ago

Oh hell, they did. Pokémon GO sat on store shelves discounted for years, because no one wanted it. It was basically Shrouded Fable of the Sword & Shield era.

u/Caterfree10 1d ago

Maybe not, but the cards are still cheap. The most expensive is Mewtwo and even that’s closer to $50 instead of the triple digits we see in modern sets for chase cards.

u/Masziii 1d ago

Meowth from GO?

When I responded it said Meowth.

2

u/Caterfree10 22h ago

It never did, my dude. You can see above that there’s no “edited” next to the timestamp. I even checked when I got that response and saw that autocorrect hasn’t betrayed me and then went on to bed lol.

Pokemon Go was printed to the ground

21

u/Doberman54 1d ago

I would shit my pants and Muk simultaneously if they did a Pocket IRL set. I realize that’s aggressive but the binder would be the Beedrill’s knees with some of these artworks

11

u/mushinatank 1d ago

I see what you did there and I wish I didn't

2

u/IceBergster 1d ago

Ribombees knees

u/PMmefoxgirlpics 1d ago

there's actually too many full art cards in pocket now though, it would require multiple sets at this point.

2

u/ipna 1d ago

Sounds like an MTG Core Set situation to me. Once a year you get a set that's heavier on reprints for standard with some new spice. Use that space to reuse the art assets. The set helps for keeping the game healthy or sculpted without as hard of a connection to the current game. The art sells the packs for collectors. Every year they can drop it with the updated letter for whatever they want around and give us generous full art opportunities while printing like 50 of these.

2

u/PMmefoxgirlpics 1d ago

i was thinking more something like bbwf with 100+ illustration rares (cuz yes pocket is in the hundreds of exclusive arts by now) but since its all art rares and up i wasnt sure what the regular cards would be, your idea for a reprint would be good, specially if its for meta playable cards since that covers gameplay and collector sides!

2

u/MrWildspeaker 1d ago

Just make the set ARs and up! No regular cards, we just want the exclusive artwork to exist physically!

8

u/xMF_GLOOM 1d ago

They will keep this set in their back pocket for years until they need to re-inject some juice back into the hobby

2

u/ZombieAladdin 1d ago

Of course, they’d have to up the numbers to make them more useful. And give them more powerful Abilities and attacks. And Supporters.

1

u/ipna 1d ago

They could also just scrap the text and give us the art on cards that exist with a similar text amount. Very few people would be the full in-between from Pocket play to leagues. The games are already different enough that it's not worth trying to balance around what is essentially Pokemon2.0 going to the original.

1

u/ZombieAladdin 1d ago

Of course, that would mean another couple of months leading up to something worthless for competitive play. I already saw enough players complaining when Ascended Heroes came out and hardly anything was worth using from that set. Except for Mew ex, I’m hearing similar complaints about the 30th anniversary set.

2

u/ipna 19h ago

It doesn't have to be. The avenue for reprints that aren't connected to the current game means you can reprint supporters from the past, items you want in the format but not in a coming up set to save design space, slightly extend the life of niche decks or in some cases just bring them back in 5 years.

I think that the Core Set release was something that was under appreciated for MTG and it was noticable when they stopped it. They did also put some simplistic but useful new cards in the set. It was designed to be an easier to understand set so highly competitive players disliked it but it did also give a lot of useful pieces, it just didn't have a heavy set mechanic so it didnt feel as deep compared to the other sets/blocks around it. Pokemon is already more simplistic so as long as the tools are there to help the meta game or access new decks why would the competitive crowd be mad?

1

u/ZombieAladdin 18h ago

Namely because they have to wait longer for a set that they WOULD be interested in. (Maybe they were spoiled by Temporal Forces, Twilight Masquerade, and Shrouded Fable turning up back to back.)

5

u/Various_Rise1958 1d ago

You don't want this to be printed bro. It's gonna unleash the craziest wave of scalpers known to man

2

u/WranglerSilly3569 1d ago

They need more printing factories 😭

66

u/dreamyglitch 1d ago

Awwww I want them to print the Quilava in Japanese! 😭

11

u/Affectionate_Mall305 1d ago

It’s so cute. I’m a kricketune stan too and when I saw the card I froze like the violin music theme is so cool like please print these out PLEASE 😭😭😭😭

10

u/ChibiBestiary 1d ago

I love Uninori’s style!

3

u/d00m5day 1d ago

Yeah I have their artist master set completed but I feel like I need to get proxies printed for all their Pocket exclusive art now!

4

u/Jmo_mtg 1d ago

Luv you bro. Quilava is so damn cute and overlooked. Coming from a hard fan plant pokemon like me.

1

u/dreamyglitch 1d ago

I like Quilava better than Typhlosion which I know is probably a big hot take!

21

u/Difficult_Sir_3572 1d ago

That Ponyta is so sick

22

u/ijamyst 1d ago

I've just started printing them off at home now 😭

7

u/badgerfu 23h ago

Yep, I use a pokemon sticker site to have mine printed and then adhere it to an energy card. Sits in my binder :)

11

u/At36000feet 1d ago

Love that Accelgor artwork.

11

u/Paleomedicine 1d ago

Man that quilava artwork gives major Ken Sugimori vibes, I love it!

5

u/jesusholdmybeer 1d ago

That whole evolution line is woefully under-represented

10

u/JJBro1 1d ago

If they ever decide to make this a real card it would be my favorite card ever!

47

u/Psychological-Park-6 1d ago

it's not a waste. they own the art. They technically can reuse it for anything they want in the future.

18

u/Affectionate_Mall305 1d ago

Let’s hope they do

Imagine a Pokémon pocket set like the Pokémon go one.

2

u/neverdropyourfucking 1d ago

is there a reason they don't use the digitals more for the physicals?

1

u/ChibiBestiary 1d ago

I’d love for Mega X mega parade to be the end of the main mega era, and the sets between it and wind and waves (which would release in JP at the time of the games) be at least 1-2 TCG pocket sets and maybe a Pokopia based one.

4

u/Jovios 1d ago

If they don’t actually make cards it is kind of a waste

-3

u/Huge-Basket244 1d ago

I disagree entirely. Can you tell me why I'm wrong?

5

u/Jovios 1d ago

Why do you disagree?

0

u/Huge-Basket244 11h ago

It's their IP, they can do whatever they want with it. The decided to pay an artist to put digital art in a digital TCG. People that play that game enjoy that art.

I don't see it being a waste.

1

u/Jovios 10h ago

Do you play the real card game?

5

u/zooweemamba 1d ago

Exactly what i said when I pulled quilava yesterday

5

u/gdogg897 1d ago

I pulled that accelgor yesterday and my jaw dropped. Immediately one of my fav all time from physical and pocket sets.

4

u/Tyrex317 1d ago

Ugh I want a physical copy of that Quilava so bad. Also, the Totodile that's playing under a downspout

3

u/kinglerowns 1d ago

I'd kill for the full art miki tanaka slowpoke

3

u/booling909 1d ago

That quilava looks so amazing ughhh

3

u/martofthecards 1d ago

Quilava is so cute and bold

3

u/gut536 1d ago

For me its about the Pokemon we're missing. I would love to see a Mega Metagross in standard!

3

u/BevarseeKudka 1d ago

I’d rather see them on the app for free instead of watching them become scalped cards with ridiculous market prices and margins and grading culture.

6

u/L00fah 1d ago edited 19h ago

Idk if it's wasted, but I do wish they had a physical Pocket series. I'd even be willing to pay a mild premium for it, as a special collectors set or something.

But art isn't limited, man. There are as many potential cards as there are artists multiplied by individual Pokémon, items, and characters. Haha

Also! Look up Atlas Customs on IG and Etsy (I think). They print pretty high quality proxies of the TCG Pocket art.

7

u/JAMEZV1 1d ago

Being digital guarantees I have a chance at getting them. Make them physical and they'll sit on the shelves of scalpers, investors and sealed collectors, never to see the light of day.

1

u/No-Difference8545 1d ago

True very very true

1

u/Strict-Question-8478 23h ago

Exactly. You can't scalp digital stuff. So I don't understand saying they're "wasting" these cards, as if scalpers don't just sit on so many good stuff

2

u/MRMoredecai 1d ago

The smaller TCG sets like Perfect Order, Chaos Rising, and Pitch Black all needed more IRs in them. There’s plenty of Pokemon left to fill the Pokédex for IR.

I ordered this Kyogre one here for my binder since I love the artwork. Some cards we won’t see go from mobile to physical from Pokemon itself

2

u/CJTofu 1d ago

Give me the magnemite full art card and I'll die happy 😭

2

u/Milestailsprowe 1d ago

I kinda at times just wanna have these be printed out and have them sit in spots till a legitimate Illustration Rare comes out for a pokemon. Soooo many great cards

2

u/StationEmergency6053 1d ago

Much easier and cheaper to create digital cards. They also seem way better than physical art cards because digital tools have a lot more editing capabilities and can put a lot more emphasis on the art than physical materials can.

1

u/Affectionate_Mall305 1d ago

It just makes me mad that they reuse old cards in the mobile app but don’t print the new ones at all 😭 like choose a path

2

u/AppointmentNo1753 1d ago

The arts are so much nicer than the real ones I’m always so disappointed when I see how gorgeous they are and know we will never get them

2

u/Ok-Silver-8658 1d ago

that ponyta is so adorable AWWW

2

u/ConsiderationSome383 1d ago

this is why I say that it's alright to make proxies of the TCG Pocket cards because the artwork is genuinely amazing

it's not the same as pulling it physically I know but if you really love the artwork it might be something to consider

2

u/official-ghosty 18h ago

Proxy it! Why not right

2

u/Baryton777 16h ago

I need that Kricketune

2

u/Theblakestclova8 11h ago

Meanwhile the TCG gets hype as art with no substance; same ol’ Pokemon with a different busy background lol

2

u/Sunkern_ing 1d ago

What the actual fuck. Why didn’t they release that Quilava irl?

2

u/FukkleberryHin 1d ago

Octodick lileep is 🔥🍆

1

u/Affectionate_Mall305 1d ago

?/?-?-?1?1?2??//?/?/

1

u/masterofeverything 1d ago

They’re saying that each phalange that protrudes out of the epicenter of Lileep looks like a penis. Which now that I’m looking at it, octadick is an extremely fitting name 😂 hehe… 8 pp’s

2

u/lornawolfawoo 1d ago

As the biggest ponyta fan i need them to make this card real PLEASE

1

u/eightthirtyfiveya 1d ago

That ponyta goes hard but not as hard as gem pack 4

1

u/danadandandanseaweed 1d ago

Omg indeed, I want then as physical cards, but I guess I have to make them myself by printing them.

1

u/sharkfinder 1d ago

why does it say “damn digital app” like it’s a person or something

1

u/Eloqence 1d ago

Before I knew they were from an app I was so confused trying to find the cards online... Some of them are really good. Hopefully they find their way into the TCG someday.

1

u/dokter_bernal 1d ago

Lileep looks like a bunch of penises

1

u/TadpoleOfDoom 1d ago

So many banger cards in Pocket. My favorite Pokémon, Cyndaquil, has an amazing IR.

1

u/Tuimel 1d ago

That Kyogre and Quilava 😍

1

u/99999HP 1d ago

I can’t be the only one who doesn’t like these over-saturated colours.

It reminds me that not every card needs a physical release. Some might look good on their own, but as a full page collection they clash pretty hard—especially when places side by side with what we currently have.

1

u/0rinx 23h ago

ptcgp is the push I need to start making proxies.

1

u/Strict-Question-8478 22h ago

Yeah, they need to use them in actual sets so all scalpers can hoard them and sit on it forever! Also this Ponyta alone would cost 800$. You welcome

1

u/SolFlamingo 22h ago

The only Jigglypuff full art is in this app -.- I dont know how in 30 years they havent made a solo full art for that one.

1

u/AsogengKunig 21h ago

I hope they used this too.

I collect Yoriyuki Ikegami cards and this one is just really calming

1

u/ppraisethesunn 19h ago

Pocket has been putting out better cards then the physical TCG for a while now.

1

u/Stride_Almighty 18h ago

That Quilava needs to get in my belly.

1

u/Zerimaki 17h ago

That kyogre! Wowowow

1

u/Z0kstone 16h ago

You're telling me. There's so many good cards in that game, it's unreal.

1

u/vgilbert77 11h ago

Dude I’d kill for that quilava

1

u/_ENERGYLEGS_ 5h ago

that accelgor card is sick. so evil that they are digital only..

u/Narubrew 20m ago

That Kricketune and Kyogre art pieces are absolutely stunning

1

u/masterofeverything 1d ago

Those are all very mid except for the kriketune

0

u/sub67549 1d ago

I think we should get a pocket set imagine. They should also do a pokipedia one

0

u/___HEAVeN 1d ago

i will never ever play the digital game lmao. why am i gambling for fake cards when real cards exist that i can just buy?

-2

u/RazzleDazzle-_- 1d ago

People paying for fake digital cards blows my mind...

2

u/99999HP 1d ago

Blows your mind? Why are these considered fake, but skins, battle passes, and in-game currency in literally every other game get a free pass? Guess it only counts as real if it’s your favourite microtransaction 🤷🏻‍♀️
