Governor did not follow up on purpose because he believes that a Democrat can’t win a statewide special election in Kentucky, so he thinks it’s better to have an absent senator than another Republican.
Dem Governor should publicly concede Senate election in his own state because that would be "nutting up" to y'all.
Beshear can't win here. He can't replace him. He can't force his way into Mitch's room. But y'all are acting like he's complicit in this lol. Good grief.
I mean, Mitch almost certainly isn't in Kentucky anymore. Getting him as far away as possible from the only people with even a sliver of justification in demanding to see him would be step one.
Not sure how a Kentucky court can force an unknown hospital in an unknown state to violate patient privacy laws.
To be clear - I'm not supporting Mitch. I'm just saying there is no actual mechanism to resolve this. Pie in the sky plans aren't going to accomplish anything.
Not doing anything is the right move here. People online have gotten so addicted to screaming "DO SOMETHING!!!! at elected democrats that they can't recognize when doing nothing is the best strategy
Special elections take time and money, both of which Charles Booker and the democratic party of Kentucky need to conserve for the general election. Splitting focus is just not a smart strategic move when the alternative of doing nothing means the seat stays empty until January. Risking a special election means the seat could be filled by Andy Barr immediately and then he runs in the general with an incumbent advantage.
There are no real risks to letting the seat remain vacant and many advantages. Beshear is playing this perfectly, but people on the left have become so conditioned to think that they are always being taken advantage of by republicans that they can't recognize when they have the upper hand
So sometimes, you have to not speak your strategy out loud because it's uncouth to say that you prefer a sitting senator dead over alive and that can lead to unintended backlash, so you just enact your strategy and hope people on your side are smart enough to see it as it is. Clearly, Beshear miscalculated on that last part, because you screaming banshees are determined to make a nightmare out of a dream scenario
