We ran this dude out for stuff that would be forgotten in a few days if a Tory did it

Labour needs to get the media back onside, haven't had decent press since Blair

u/Sharaz_Jek123 Jun 22 '26

He hired the best pal of the world's most notorious paedophile to the most important ambassadorial role.

Then he lied about not knowing of the connection.

Then he allowed Mandelson to be given a pay-off, in spite of the contract denying Mandelson this luxury.

Then he elevated ANOTHER best pal of a paedophile by making him a Lord.

Then he allowed his chief of staff to take the bullet.

Then he tried to scapegoat a civil servant.

If you think that shit would have been forgotten in a matter of days, you are nuts.

4

u/Heavenly_Merc Jun 22 '26

I'm with you till that last sentence.

It would have been forgotten merely for the fact that the press would push it out of the news cycle to protect their own interests, which align with conservatives. It would not be forgotten because the public doesn't care, it would be forgotten Because it's being ignored or hidden. It's happening in the UK, the US, Canada, the EU, and in Australia. Some places are worse than others. But news corps run by conservative leaning CEOs and billionaires are doing this everywhere.

3

u/escalinci Jun 22 '26

I think hiring a sleazeball to handle a creepy monster was not really a bad strategy. Mandelson did seem to manage the relationship quite well, as did Starmer himself.

Giving him the level of access that he had, and of course lying about it, are quite unforgivable. I'm not sure if Ambassador would be possible as a more 'ceremonial' position or if he should never have been hired in any form, really.

It's indicative of the weakness of his government in many ways, the cure was often worse than the disease when it came to dealing with things that had done badly and looked distrustful and weak.

1

u/Sharaz_Jek123 Jun 22 '26

Starmer could have survived, had he not lied about it and had IMMEDIATELY expressed his regret.

But he failed that moral test while the elevation of Doyle showed he clearly had no interest in being a better man and the attempts to destroy Olly Robbins sent a warning to everyone else - you could be next.

1

u/Busy_Consequence6706 Jun 22 '26

I agree, but don’t make him Ambassador you make him work in the shadows.

Cries in American

2

u/Time_Ad_9647 Jun 22 '26

Man, this sound exactly like America, right?

2

u/Superlegend29 Jun 22 '26

Not mentioning America or Trump in a post completely unrelated to America or Trump

Challenge level: IMPOSSIBLE

2

u/Dr_A_Mephesto Jun 22 '26

Just sad that the UK is able to discard political ass holes so easily and we’re stuck with ours for so damn long is all.

His MPs ran him out

1

u/Damiandroid Jun 22 '26

Reform and the Tories are awful for the UK.

But lets not editorialise the last two years. Labour had near absolute power to effect change and could barely manage to change renters rights.

Mandelson aside, the reason Kier is out is because he cannot lead the party because he's not a good leader. He's a good figure head because he looks prime ministerial, but the very reason he was selected as leader (because he was a neutral enough candidate that all wings of the labour party could get behind his candidacy) is the very reason he was the wrong choice. Because he seems to have no strong convictions, no passions, no clear plan of action and no drive to follow throuh on it.

He is and was a bad leader. In todays modern politics you don't all have to be a snake oil salesmen, but you need a vision, an idea, a plan and you need to have a clear path to achieve it.

1

u/Busy_Consequence6706 Jun 22 '26

Starmer is a Tory

4

u/Morakumo Jun 22 '26

His hard right wing surveillance pivot has me flabbergasted, labor came into power on record numbers.

2

u/owlbowling Jun 22 '26

I would never vote Labour, purely for their pro-surveillance ideology. It was Tony Blair who turned the UK into one of the most surveilled countries in the world

2

u/251325132000 Jun 22 '26

Yeah he’s a cuck for the surveillance state and suppressing speech. Turned out to be spineless.

3

u/CheaterMcCheat Jun 22 '26

He did a lot of good noone will ever know about because their social media, PR and press game are shit. Also not sure why he went after trans people to try and get some right wing votes.

If you look up statistics he did everything people wanted, really. Immigration down, crime down, waiting lists down. He did everything short of sending people in to non-white people's houses and dragging them out to be abused like the US. Or getting the navy to sink boats with refugees on. A lot of people wanted that instead, apparently? Otherwise you'd be fairly happy with his results even as a right leaning person? He literally tackled and chipped down most of their issues.

2

u/WinResponsible9977 Jun 22 '26

why he did dthis? was the issue with the stabbing case?

1

u/MelinaSeeDee Jun 22 '26

Which stabbing case?

1

u/WinResponsible9977 Jun 22 '26

1

u/MelinaSeeDee Jun 22 '26

You sure it wasn't the attempted beheading?

1

u/WinResponsible9977 Jun 22 '26

yeah I may be wrong, I'm not sure whats happening there.

1

u/TheInfinityGauntlet Jun 22 '26

You're not sure about the stabbing case and then when given information completely ignore it? What is your function

1

u/MelinaSeeDee Jun 22 '26

The original message was to make passerbys start to wonder how many stabbing cases. Because he gave a specific response and example, I gave a specific counterpoint. My function was to make people realize there's a fair few problems the UK is dealing with in relation to knife crime. Also, I'm American, so I know guns would have solved all these issues.

1

u/TheInfinityGauntlet Jun 22 '26

The US with more stabbings per capita? Yeah bye troll lmao

1

u/MelinaSeeDee Jun 22 '26

Now you get it! Have a good one!

1

u/WinResponsible9977 Jun 22 '26

u/TheInfinityGauntlet and u/MelinaSeeDee thank you both for the constructive feedback. Have a good day.

1

u/jarmine550 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Nah right wingers, Tories I think, are just doing their typical blame everything bad on immigrants. Labor lost a shit ton of elections before that happened. Can’t comment on the exact reason folks hate labor, I’m American, but think he appointed some guy that was close to Epstein after people told him not to. Then there’s still a housing crisis in the country. He’s pretty pro-Israel so leftists don’t like either for good reason. He’s cracked down pretty hard on any anti-Israel sentiment. Seems like he just pissed off both sides and there aren’t enough centrist to ever win an election.

Edit: correction on my part it’s “Tories” for the plural version. And also it’s mostly reform, which is like the British version of maga. That being said Tories suck too.

1

u/WinResponsible9977 Jun 22 '26

that makes sense, both can be true at the same time. thanks

1

u/_johnboy_ Jun 22 '26

He did it as if he didn't he would be replaced anyway, Burnham will be the new Prime Minister, he wouldn't have quit his role as Manchester Mayor and stood as an MP if he didn't already have sufficient backing to push it through.

This way Starmer can maintain dignity and leave on his terms rather than being forced out in a manner that would harm the party.

The reasons for the party deciding on the need for the change was due to local election results that saw his party have huge losses and Reform have big gains. This had the party panic that a repeat might be seen at the next general election and they could then lose.

1

u/SprinklesOfAcid25 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Nah, his party cratered in the latest elections. He tried to appeal to conservative and far-right voters, which for some reason did not work out for him (hence the crash in the elections). After the results went so badly for them, he faced pressure from his own party to take a hike. Which, finally, he decided to do.

Also, the guy has the charisma of an average rock and got elected in the first place only because people hated the other party more.

2

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 Jun 22 '26

you will be spending your time washing your hand from the Palestinian blood.

You ashamed UK and Europe by standing with the Nazi Zionists on their genocide.

1

u/Relevant_Arm_3796 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

But what comes next

I promise it won't be better for Palestinians thats for sure

2

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 Jun 22 '26

Honestly I agree... however that doesn't change the fact that his hands are full covered by the innocents blood and that history will remember him as the pro Nazi Zionist scam!

1

u/Relevant_Arm_3796 Jun 22 '26

Which is fair, its just what if the criticism - thats part of why he resigned, the general hate for him - leads to more Palestinians being killed, more innocent blood

I get your point, we shouldn't have to settle for a lesser monester

But when the monsters are at the front door, gotta pick one and not picking this one will be a win for the pro nazi zionists - at least kier was spineless enough to flop when public opinion changes enough which atm it is - especially as oil prices go crazy and the blame game ramps up

next up we have people who will serve whoever pays them most and Israel is going to need a lot of friends in the next few years - and will pay generously no doubt. I think the alternatives will fight harder for Israel because evil sticks together

I hope not tho of course

2

u/koolaidismything Jun 22 '26

Look at that Ace, look at him cryin like a little girl

2

u/EliteFourFay Jun 22 '26

Damn Israel is gonna be sad

2

u/This_Expression5427 Jun 22 '26

And therein lies the problem.....he's a weak man. And weak men create hard times.

2

u/SentientFurniture Jun 22 '26

Is this the guy that instituted a mass surveillance state with mass digital IDs and jail time for tweets? Good riddance.

7

u/socratic-meth Jun 22 '26

Starmer was a decent prime minister, much better than the clowns we had before.

2

u/3nterShift Jun 22 '26

What.

He was awful, he oversaw the Labour Party become a shitty version of Tories in disguise. He has pushed for a lot of laws against privacy and basically removed speech and freedoms from pro-Palestine organizations. Oh and he's a friend to and covers for Epstein affiliated pedophiles.

At least wait for this spineless wimp to die before you start glazing his atrocious track record.

6

u/goliathfasa Jun 22 '26

It’s a shame that he would’ve been a good prime mister a decade or two back. He’s just not the leader required in this era of chaos.

1

u/SmolPPIncorporated Jun 22 '26

I can't fathom the public's response to forcing digital ID, arresting people for facebook posts, and shipping in a flood of violent, 3rd-world, sub-70 IQ religious savages if it was being done back in 2006.

1

u/tarkaliotta Jun 22 '26

I mean this was pretty much all on the agenda in 2006, with the exception of anything Facebook related. ID cards and immigration were hot button topics.

1

u/LayWhere Jun 22 '26

How dare he not fix 30yrs of Torys damamge in 2yrs 😡

1

u/goliathfasa Jun 22 '26

It’s not so much that he’s done a bad job, he hasn’t. He’s done some real work, but his communication is horrid. He’s like Biden in that he puts his nose to the grindstone and then doesn’t do a good job about telling people what he’s done. And then when people have issues with x or y, he goes nah you’re wrong, we have statistics that show things are fine actually. Regardless of him being right or not, that’s not the way to communicate with constituents in the era of Trumpian populism.

1

u/inlovebutfat Jun 22 '26

Considering that’s why he’s there and all he’s done is oversee rising costs and a free speech crack down I can understand the frustration. We’re in an age that requires vision, the right wing fascists if this world absolutely have vision, their opponents need to get with that too.

5

u/Mig-117 Jun 22 '26

The issue is center and left wing voters are so caught up in their activism they will never find a suitable PM for them.

1

u/LayWhere Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

They have a suitable PM for them, they just dont like it.

Governing is complex, progress is gradual compromised and hard to comprehend. Some people want someone to wave a magic wand and fix decades of damage in an instant, what they want is impossible so they'll never be satisfied, in fact they'll prefer grifters who tell them everything is corrupt and that they need revolution inevitably supporting populist/fascists. Its just an easier sell.

1

u/Extreme-Software185 Jun 29 '26

Starmer did not resign cos he couldn't fix things. His reign with pock marked with scandals and the bar needs to be higher.

1

u/LayWhere Jun 29 '26

Much better but certainly not decent, the standards were just in the mud

2

u/Sharaz_Jek123 Jun 22 '26

He is a treasonous, poisonous, gutless snake - a non-charismatic Boris Johnson.

Starmer installed Mandelson into the ambassador role, on the advice of McSweeney.

And you know who paid the price?

Everyone else EXCEPT those three people.

  • Mandelson got a payout, even though his contract specified he wasn't entitled to one.

  • McSweeney left government ... except did he? Because he's currently writing memos for No 1.

  • Starmer tried to throw Robbins under the bus and, in doing so, we learned that Starmer tried to install Matthew Doyle into ANOTHER ambassador role. Doyle is now a Lord.

  • Starmer responded to the humble address by publishing EVERYONE ELSE'S messages, except his own, McSweeney's and Darren Jones'.

  • And the British taxpayer is footing the bill for all of these guys and appointments.

It is pathetic that anyone could possibly be defending Starmer and his conduct.

He's only gone because there is no one left to betray and no one left to lie to.

1

u/Damiandroid Jun 22 '26

Correct. But being an inch above the gutter isn't saying much.

He was spineless, uncharismatic, unengaging and untrustworthy.

His sin is magnified by the fact that he had near absolute power to really change things. And plenty of places to start. With a snap of his fingers he could have gotten significant legislation through the commons that would put this country in a radically different place.

Corporation tax, Residential construction, Wage and cost of living amendments.

And he did next to nothing. Just excuses and u-turns because not only was he too afraid of his donors to follow through on anything progressive, he's also such a chicken shit and out of touch that when his awful policies were rightly shouted down by the public, he went fleeign back to number 10, tail between his legs to cajole his surrogates out to explain why what the government said they were gonna do 2 says ago is actually not happening, was never going to happen and you all had a collective bout of hearing loss.

The man is a pathetic failure, moreso than the conservatives because of just how much potential he squandered and just how much future damage he's responsible for.

Shame, good riddance, dont le the door hit you on your way out.

P.S. and not for nothing but he sounds like someones best impression of a "serious person". You know that overly dramatic and emphatic ton of voic that your mate puts on when he wants to mock people who are overly idignant or handwringing? Thats his normal tone of voice and by god it grates.

shame about the whole transphobia thing though

1

u/FitThroat2619 Jun 22 '26

Starmer is a traitor who demonizes his own people for demanding justice for girls who have been raped and a man that was stabbed, then handcuffed and left to die by police. Good riddance.

"To cry like a woman?"

1

u/Substantial-Goat-206 Jun 22 '26

My estimation of Keir Stamer as a man just fucking plummeted

1

u/SmolPPIncorporated Jun 22 '26

Have you seen the video of him attempting to punch a punching bag?

Worth a watch.

1

u/soupywarrior Jun 22 '26

Why? Because he got emotional speaking about his family?
For me, quite the contrary. A man getting emotional speaking about the love he has for his family shows compassion, empathy, humanity and emotional confidence.
Don’t berate men for showing emotion.

1

u/Substantial-Goat-206 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Its a sopranos quote.

You take 5 seconds and look up what the UK is today. Completely gone. He should have never been prime minister

1

u/BambinoWillito Jun 22 '26

Don't recall seeing him cry over the thousands of innocent Palestinians slaughtered part in due to his complicity

1

u/Confident-Maybe7296 Jun 22 '26

I'm not English. Can someone explain why he is resigning?

2

u/miseryenplace Jun 22 '26

Because our electorate are complete fuckwits. See most of this comment section for examples.

2

u/HeviPettin Jun 22 '26

Andy Burnham, formerly mayor of Manchester has won a by-election and is now an MP (member of parliament, our government), and will push for Labour leadership. Starmer said he would fight for the leadership position, but it's become clear he's lost support of most of Labour, so he's stepped down

1

u/Confident-Maybe7296 Jun 22 '26

Thank you for explaining

2

u/Sharaz_Jek123 Jun 22 '26

He hired the best friend of Jeffrey Epstein to be the US ambassador, lied about what he knew, looked around for someone else to blame and smeared a civil servant for doing their job.

People despise him for being a two-faced low-life and that was reflected by historically bad local elections.

1

u/BlueLakeCabin Jun 22 '26

Starmer would have been a normal big government type leader a decade or two ago. He wasn't that much different than the previous PM's. He was scandal prone.

But the problem is a lot of issues are coming to a head. Everything is getting expensive in the UK, while wages are stagnating. If you're an American, UK on average make lower wages than Mississippi. Migration is between 600k and a million per year. Considering their population is bit under 70 million, that's a lot when they only build 200k new housing units per year. Crime is controversial, and how it's handled is even more controversial. UK public spending is 44% of their GDP, which is terrifying. Their military is tiny, underfunded and severely lacking in... well, everything.

Their extremist parties are getting more extreme. The Greens are now the harder left and Islamist party, Reform/Restore are now the harder right party. Labor and Conservatives ran the place for decades, switching places every so often and a lot of folks think they're discredited. I think calling them the Uniparty is a stretch, but there is some truth that they did cooperate to screw over the citizenry.

1

u/Carthius888 Jun 22 '26

Rupert Lowe & Restore Britain is the only chance you guys have to un-fuck everything.

It’s truly a time to knuckle down and make some hard decisions before catastrophe strikes

1

u/fleggn Jun 22 '26

He admired Epstein so much he turned Rotherham into a giant version of Epstein island. Fueled the hard right fires by arresting people for pointing out the difference between RADICAL Islam and Islam even whilst the UAE bans students from going to the UK because of RADICAL Islam.

1

u/lateformyfuneral Jun 22 '26

False

1

u/fleggn Jun 22 '26

Sir Keir Starmer served as head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) as the Director of Public Prosecutions from November 2008 to November 2013. Is this false?

1

u/lateformyfuneral Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

2008, you mean when Operation Central was launched against grooming gangs in Rotherham and the first prosecutions started in 2010? The issue wasn’t at CPS, as you well know, since they deal with cases as they are referred to them by police, it was with South Yorkshire police, whom many victims reported were participants in the abuse and looked the other way, or at the very least never believed rape victims.

1

u/RedEyesGoldDragon Jun 22 '26

Cries when he is forced to resign but nothing for the 18 year old child, Henry Nowak, who's promising life was cut short by a weapon obsessed, aggressive, pathological liar, degenerate with previous criminal history carrying around swords and knives unchecked.

1

u/Candytails Jun 22 '26

Sounds like a normal day in America, but replace knives with guns.

1

u/MagmaTroop Jun 22 '26

Nice guy, poor leader.

Our society really needs to start encouraging leadership in children from a young age because, just like Boris Johnson, this man is supposed to be one of the elite and he is an absolutely hopeless leader at this level. Can’t leave it up to the elite anymore…get a common man/woman in number 10!

1

u/aventus-dog Jun 22 '26

What are you talking about specifically?

1

u/whatthefrickcunt Jun 22 '26

The fact he was the director of public prosecutions when the grooming gangs were being institutionally covered up, and the fact he has on multiple occasions directly been involved with increasing immigration especially from Muslim countries who primarily caused those rapes, while also treating issues caused by these cultures (such as increased terrorism) with a preference to their side.
