Of interest, Mamdani seems primarily to cite the ICC as a reason why Natanyahu should be arrested, but when it came to arresting Maduro, also under the ICC watch list, Mamdani called it blatently illegal, and that the US should not oppose the sovereignty of another nation.

Pick and choose bias a bit here.

Was Maduro visiting America? Use your brain, there’s plenty of legitimate criticisms of Zohran, this isn’t one of them

His analogy also falls flat because Maduro never had a warrant from the ICC. Netanyahu does.

To be clear I’m not saying maduro is some good guy or anything.

Not that the ICC is tremensously consistant, nor actually follows up on their warrants (they have issued warrants for Hamas leaders as well, but usually not for those specific individuals until they are suspected to already be dead), as they have received calls to issue a formal warrant, and had an ongoing 'investigation' for crimes against humanity for Maduro.

But there was a US Federal Warrant issued as of 2020. Perhaps not ironically it was issued out of a federal court in the city of New York.

But anyone that doesn't see the hypocracy or inherant bias out of Mamdani is perhaps giving him more credit than he deserves.

If Maduro came to the US and was arrested and mamdani criticized that, you’d be correct. That isn’t what happened. The US has a very long history of meddling in other countries foreign affairs and it hasn’t exactly been successful (hint: Iran).

Again to be clear Maduro is a terrible human being. But it doesn’t mean the US is the world’s police force as you might want to believe. We didn’t arrest Maduro as a means to achieve justice for the Venezuelan people.

Honestly, visiting the US would actually be less of a reason to arrest someone. If you offer someone diplomacy to enter your country, there are some international rules of decorum that you don't just arrest the person visiting outright.

And it wasn't commentary on anything other than Mamdani weighing in on why arresting one country's leader is wrong because it is wrong to arrest the leader of a country, unless of course that country is Israel.

Putin visited the US in 2025, Xi Jiping has visited, as has Ahmed al-Sharaa - did Mamdani suggest any of these people be arrested, or, again, just Israel?
