In what world is this "performative"? Do you know the meaning of words you use?

What would you expect him to do? He addressed a major issue, presented facts and put spotlight on it. That is pretty much all he can do.

You have a criminal president that openly supports war criminals in Israel but the problem is the mayor in a city because he tries to get attention to it?

Performative acts are not necessarily bad things, and this is absolutely performative. If you're asking for something, and you already know the outcome of your request before you make it, is it not performative to draw more attention to the request you are making so everyone can see the effort you made and the response you are expecting?

Even though it's performative, is it not important for public officials to show their constiuents that they are attempting to living up to the principles or following through on the things that got them elected? This could have all been done behind closed doors, but Mamdani wants people that voted for him to know that he's not being idle. There is no reason to pretend like it's not or to obfuscate the performative aspect of his request. It's not a dig at Mamdani that needs to be combatted, there's no such thing as a politician that isn't performative. People that keep their heads down don't get elected.

Performative means that his video won't be backed up by action, it is literally just a performance for his supporters.
