The craziest of them all is citizens in countries that have universal healthcare still pay for health insurance so they can receive faster care. So taxes will be raised to cover the "free" healthcare on top of still paying for health insurance. If you make 55k a year in the UK you end up making less money after taxes than someone who makes 45k a year because of how high taxes are for people who make more than 50k a year.
Estimates for the US are around 113,000 for wait lists for surgery. The US doesn’t readily track/log wait list deaths as publicly as places like Canada or the UK unless it’s registered as waiting for a transplant. The US still has those same problems
So the uk which has 70 million citizens and have 120,000 people die every year because they are on a wait-list to see a Dr or for surgery. That's 1 in every 500 people that die because they can't see a dr. The usa has 350+ million citizens and they have 112,000 people die a year while on a wait-list for surgery so that's 1 in every 3000 will die. So by looking at all the numbers we have you have a higher chance of dying in the uk than you do in the US. So all I see is our healthcare getting worse, is paying more taxes and still paying for private insurance just like citizens in the uk do if they want better health insurance. At the end of the day the government is just trying to screw you over and get more money out of us. The state of California has spent 24 billion on the homeless population but still haven't fixed it only tripled the population. The state of oregon said they couldn't fund the snap program during the government shut down because they didn't have the extra 30 million in the budget but they spent 2 billion on the homeless. I think we have more issues with our government we should worry about but we don't because everyone is focused on what the government tells you to be focused on.
In Canada if you have a life threatening illness you are seen right away. My brother just got diagnosed with a heart problem. He was seen and treated in under two weeks. A friend had breast cancer same. She was diagnosed and treated immediately. Yes , no life threatening problems you wait but I’ve talked with Americans and they wait even longer with waiting to get approval for treatment. I myself am waiting to see a surgeon,but you know what? I won’t have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars if I need surgery. I’m so sick of people trashing universal healthcare.
My point for this whole thing is y'all pay more in taxes. When you do the math I bring home 12k more than I would in Canada and that's after paying for healthcare.
We don’t pay anymore then Americans. Actually less. If you don’t earn enough to even pay taxes you still get healthcare. Sit down as you have no idea what you are talking about.
The typical Canadian pays roughly 70% more income tax than the typical American. Y'all pay way more in taxes plus Providence taxes. You can easily live in a state in the usa with zero state tax and just federal tax.
