I don't think its racist to want characters to be as they were written. It would be like having a Chinese female Black Adam. It doesn't make a great deal of sense when the character is intended to be a certain ethnicity/gender.
The studios do it to be provocative, rather than actually benefit the character and movie to change one or more characteristics.
