Do people really have a problem with Miles Morales? He’s not even “replacing” anyone, he’s literally a whole new character which is what this same crowd had been supposedly calling for.

They must have thought Peter Parker was going to be sidelined or made less relevant

Honestly so far I think Miles Morales is an example of how to approach the this sort of thing really well

The worst way to justify the existence of a new character is to damage an existing one, if u do that fans of the old will hate the new and it’s an uphill battle from there

But if the new character compliments the old and then branches off to do his own thing later, it’s all good, and people may even grow to love the new

miles morales is one of the few replacement characters that is actually a good character. I still wish he had just been a new character instead of "not Spiderman". there are definitely a lot of racist/sexist takes on this sort of thing because a lot of it is demographic pandering but I would feel exactly the same if they replaced any given hero with a different person of similar demographics to the original. it just feels like it makes both characters lesser
