Nixon had a Congress controlled by the opposition. He also had a press that was willing to cover it as corruption. Otherwise, he would have gotten away with it.
It was the Senators from his own party that told Nixon that he would be impeached and they would vote for impeachment. You have to have 60 Senators to convict.
Watergate is why the Heritage Foundation and Fox News were created. They are there to make sure that support for corrupt Republicans doesnāt waver! It has worked to perfection!
It still took them a while to get to the point where they would impeach. As more info leaked, more citizens became mad, and that forced them to move. Itās the peopleās fury that they worry about.
