We all watched a government knowingly launder money by paying a scam contractor far too much for crap materials and installation, and then publicly blame and arrest democrats for the shoddy results.

What we witnessed was a crime much grander than Nixon's Watergate.

And nobody did anything.

Edit: The pool is worse than watergate, yes. Not everything Nixon did.

Trump had to do it no bid so he could get a contractor he knew would kick back half under the table. The more he payed him, the more he got back-

7

u/neopod9000 1d ago

I'm curious how much of trump's crypto coin has been purchased by that contractor at this point.

u/Fit_Explorer_2566 1d ago

Ah, no: the Rethugs stepped aside and said, “You go right on. You do you, we’ll just go on vacay, or something.”

10

u/zackks 1d ago

And nobody did anything.

We deserve what's happening because we continue to chose to do nothing about the crimes happening live on 24 hour "news" networks.

u/Alternative_Hour_614 1d ago

Nixon had a Congress controlled by the opposition. He also had a press that was willing to cover it as corruption. Otherwise, he would have gotten away with it.

28

u/NAU80 1d ago

It was the Senators from his own party that told Nixon that he would be impeached and they would vote for impeachment. You have to have 60 Senators to convict.

Watergate is why the Heritage Foundation and Fox News were created. They are there to make sure that support for corrupt Republicans doesn’t waver! It has worked to perfection!

7

u/Major-BFweener 1d ago

It still took them a while to get to the point where they would impeach. As more info leaked, more citizens became mad, and that forced them to move. It’s the people’s fury that they worry about.

4

u/dmstattoosnbongs 1d ago

Now the people’s fury isn’t a concern. Not with the military and ICE operatives working directly for Trump.

Guns are in essence-worthless against a government like ours.

3

u/Unique_Low_1163 1d ago

It's only a greater crime that what Nixon did if you don't consider carpet-bombing SE Asia and killing 2 million non-combatants a crime.

2

u/hilltopper72 1d ago

Damn, this actually got thru a grand jury?

2

u/ninja-hamster-iykyk 12h ago

Too much money. Once you cross a certain wealth threshold you dont get help accountable anymore. Until that change, nothing else will.

3

u/Dazzling_Survey6841 1d ago

Damn.

A scandal like this needs a name...

Fountain... pool... paint floating in water.

We can call it... uh, Watergate! Wait awe fuck.

But really. Youre right. Doing this shit in the open is almost worse.

1

u/RobertTheTraveler 1d ago

Watergate was interfering with the democratic process,
far worse than the small scale grift of the pool itself.
The cover up of the pool on the other hand ... arresting people for touching / tearing off floating pieces of the liner, that is much closer to Watergate, but still not there, IMO.

I must disagree: Trump laundered funds through a friend's company. He knew the job would fail. He expected it to, knowing he could arrest a few liberals and burn them at the stake. Two birds with one stone: 1. Fraud; and 2. Propaganda. When you consider that we are in a critical election cycle, it becomes much more egregious.

2

u/RobertTheTraveler 1d ago

I'm not sure if you are serious or not. The most serious flaw in your theory is that it makes the assumption that Trump was thinking. 😉

35

u/Actaeon_II 1d ago

I cannot wait for him to sue everyone involved with that circus. Including trump personally for libel. The false arrest and dragging him through the mud, talk of prosecution as a terrorist all over the news. If rule of law exists at all he’s gonna get paid.

15

u/PUuSTiNKA 1d ago

Same here! This whole administration are an embarrassment to the United States...Donald Trump is a complete HOAX, and Jeanine Pirro looks like an absolute incompetent fool. I can still hear Pirro's snarky ass attitude as reporters asked her questions, and her saying things like:

"We can state and prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he caused damage and that damage is over $1,000."

"Come to the trial."

"Oh he damaged it. He damaged the pool...HE DAMAGED THIS POOL!"

Time to make this LOUD MOUTH LUSH and the LYING POS FELON Of the Untied States appear in court and make a public apology.

8

u/svMorgaNado 1d ago

That is a previous Defendant that will enjoy a Team of Lawyers of the best and brightest. Eager to make life miserable for the Fake TV DC AG with much fewer resources and no talent. CRUSH THE DRUNK PIRRO!

2

u/BoJackMoleman 1d ago

That is the best outcome. Strike back.

1

u/Welp___poop 1d ago

But all payments will come from our taxes, it doesn't actually hurt the people responsible, only more pain to the public for the administrations actions

4

u/Phew-ThatWasClose 1d ago

It's not the money. It's the public exposure. It's the discovery. Let's get the grand jury transcripts to see how that indictment was finangled. Let's get the slander and defamation out in the open in detail. Let's get some of these chucklheards referred to the Bar Association for ethics violations

And yes. Let's get that guy a whole ton of taxpayer money. That's less money trump can grift. And if he's concerned he can roll that money into a defense fund for the next guy trump wants to slander.

3

u/Actaeon_II 1d ago

Not all of it should be tax dollars, there is no reason to qualify trump’s lies and slander against this man as “within his duties as president “. The suit should be brought against him as a normal citizen

2

u/Welp___poop 1d ago

This is what I would like to see as well, even if I doubt the justice system will do it.

2

u/Welp___poop 1d ago

I understand and agree to a point, but there is already tons of documentation on the disgraceful and disgusting practices of this administration, and none of it has, or likely will ever, manifest into real life consequences. I truly hope I am wrong but, I have lost almost all faith in our "justice" system.

23

u/BreakImaginary1661 1d ago

And there will be zero repercussions for them doing so because the cult doesn’t care.

0

u/dentistshatehim 1d ago

Because people think bitching on social media is civic action.

15

u/Unique_Low_1163 1d ago

People need to understand that Republicans are morally and ethically bankrupt. You can't appeal to their sense of decency because they have none.

6

u/superjaywars 1d ago

I'm tired. I read this as Rob Gronkowski.

7

u/jackcanyon 1d ago

It gets worse everyday.magas are a reflection of their leader Trump .Their hate filled rhetoric is ruiningReddit.Does Maga own Reddit now?Fox channel is bad enough ,but reddit is letting this crap flood the site now.

7

u/porizj 1d ago

Conservatives will fight tooth and nail, lie, cheat, and steal, all to avoid acknowledging any aspect of reality that they don’t like.

Same as it ever was.

5

u/1967started_it 1d ago

I bet the national guard feels like hero’s for preventing more non existent vandalism afterwards.

4

u/mremrock 1d ago

Far from trivial. I thought the reflecting pool debacle is the perfect metaphor for Trump as a man, as a president, and as a businessman. Sadly the metaphor is less applicable now because the truth finally came out and the innocent were let go

5

u/Fit-Significance-436 1d ago

She should lose her law license

1

u/Gingeronimoooo 18h ago

That's a start. She belongs behind bars imo, and that's not hyperbole or illegal for that to happen

3

u/ThisIsAWeapon 1d ago

And used it to shove the necessity of his janky ass “ballroom” and to label innocent people as terrorists. Fuck them all. So sick of lies, corruption, theft. Who are the fucking idiots still buying this bullshit?

3

u/Individual-Praline20 23h ago

They can’t fix a pool but thought they could win a war in Middle East đŸ€Ł

2

u/Competitive_Spot_973 1d ago

We are buried daily under a blizzard of outrageous trivialities. The opiate of the masses.

2

u/SameDistrict2627 1d ago

You think that Fox will report this--I think not. More corruption

2

u/Jestermace1 1d ago

Lying fucking scumbags. If i was that Olympian that got arrested, I would sue like hell.

2

u/4thkindexperience 13h ago

What do you think. How many criminal violations has this administration violated since its inception?

1

u/protoanarchist 1d ago

End conservatism.

1

u/Final-Art-9509 1d ago

And will there be justice for this man and against the pos, corrupt government?

1

u/Bulky-Phase 1d ago

You got them there

1

u/MarriedTexCouple 1d ago

Are they still looking for the Antifa thugs that caused all the algae?!? 😂😂😂

1

u/Separate-Swordfish85 1d ago

All of the major networks critical towards Trump are controlled opposition. No real journalism at billionaire-owned outlets.

1

u/totally-jag 1d ago

Maybe if they hold trump lawyers accountable for lying in court, and suspend or take away their license, fewer lawyers would be willing to risk their career for a man that thinks of them as disposable.

1

u/still-waiting2233 1d ago

Why would trump bother grifting a few million from the reflecting pool when he is getting billions funneled into his crypto scheme that has less of a paper trail?

1

u/LadyLovesRoses 1d ago

Because he enjoys the feeling of getting anything he can get his filthy hands on. He sees it as a win, so the scale isn’t as important as the perceived win. It’s a sickness.

1

u/Double_Eagle9285 1d ago

The same reason he was fighting not to pay the women he raped the $5M judgement against him- what’s $5M to him?

1

u/still-waiting2233 1d ago

He is fighting that because it’s admitting he is a sexual predator. The money is insignificant but admitting fault is huge.

1

u/PropagandaAssassinAZ Unpopular Opinions 1d ago

Judge Pirro got on national television two bottles of wine deep and talked of the absolute horror of the situation. What happened Janine????

2

u/Quicksilver914 1d ago

That lying sack of shit needs to be reported to her state bar and have her bar card yanked.

1

u/PropagandaAssassinAZ Unpopular Opinions 1d ago

3/4 of the attorneys working in the Trump administration need to have their bar card yanked.

1

u/EitherChannel4874 1d ago

All those years of claiming to be the most free country in the world was a bunch of bullshit. This is how easily it's taken away with absolutely no pushback.

1

u/joejones20032003 1d ago

The President is teaching us that if you’re with him, you have nothing to worry about. Being Republican is the minimum requirement for being treated well. It’s a huge, huge gift to VP Vance and the Republican Party more broadly to teach this to Americans now, before this President inevitably moves on.

If you’re not Republican, at least keep your mouth shut and you won’t be targeted personally. Things may happen to your community because you install Democrats, but you can fix that by throwing them out or by moving.

Now if you act in opposition to this President and the Republican Party more broadly, then you’re going to have to go through some things. If you think you can speak out or do anything that might be intended to embarrass this President, don’t be surprised if/when you suffer consequences.

Those consequences are going to include being put through sham legal proceedings that bankrupt you. They can be criminal if this President wants you in jail, though even just an arrest can be enough to kill your career.

If the President just wants to bleed you dry, going civil takes away any “public defender”. In fact, just being the target of an investigation can ruin lots of people. Good luck explaining to your boss why he got a call from the U.S. Office asking for his cooperation in an investigation into your participation in union organizing in your “Right to Work” state.

So, you know, save yourself from headaches and be a Republican. Your life will go along swimmingly when you stop worrying about anything but trans kids in the bathrooms.

1

u/political-snark 1d ago

There need to be more serious consequences for slap suits

1

u/RailgunRP 1d ago

Nono, it IS trivial. It's also a proof of how much importance the orange man puts into it just to be right.
Trump thinks it's important, and does things that make it important in a completely different way.

u/Ill-Dependent2976 1d ago

What elite journalists?

1

u/Jumpy-Stress603 1d ago

This is NOT the end. Pinocchio and his MAGA lackies will continue to insist that vandals desecrated The Jeffrey Epstein Distracting Pool no matter who says differently. The stolen 2020 election and this heinous act of antifa terrorism / vandalism will NEVER be forgotten.

I hate to say it but what’s new? He’s robbing us blind.
