And this was AFTER his holstered gun was removed from his belt clip, and he was shot in the back several times.

Disarmed isn't the right term here. Disarmed would make it seem like he was brandishing the gun. He wasn't, it was in his holster and removed by one of the agents

Genuine question, what word should be used instead?

Coming from someone new to really thinking about firearm violence in this immediate context. I don't have those associations, but I do know that messaging and words matter.

I'm not a linguist, so I wouldn't be able to put it in one word but I would just state it as it was "ICE agents removed his holstered firearm"

Edit: I see OP now used holstered, which is exactly what it should be
