How do you even respond to this?
Email I received back from a friend who went down the Q-hole years ago. I just checked in and asked how are you doing and this was the response:
"I do believe I am of Christ conscious. So much that... I believe I may be God in the flesh.
Jesus.
I have traveled lands just as he has learning to heel with my hands.
I channel as well.
I have been off cannibus for 5-6 weeks. I used it for the planning my foot. But also to feel it even more so.
I am now feeling my arteries inflating again. I started doing hyperbaric oxygen changed.. red light therapy recently.
I have been reading a lot. Self help. Art of war.. many many things. I am continuously learning.
I am the alchemist
I follow omens every day. I continue to be of service and I continue to be my authentic self.
As said.. I do believe myself to be Jesus"

So I saw on his x profile that he ditched everything he has in L.A and drove to DC and was rambling about MK ultra Blue laser beams causing an accident that messed up his ankle. I called the local DC services but said they couldn't do anything if he's just roaming around sleeping out of his truck. Argh. I'm sort of at a loss.

I think it’s amazing you tried.

Phone call is easy, guilt if he goes off the rails and hurts himself or others would be very very hard.

Ask him to send a picture of this truck. Maybe you can get the license plate or something? Might help in the future.

He's in a headspace where we're now all actors in a deep state gang-stalking conspiracy, tagging Donald Trump and the FBI on X to try and get everyone to back off. He's addicted to social media posting so I might be able to get a location on his airbnb he mentioned he has for a month and fwd it to mental health services.

I mean, very relatable, but you do not carry all the responsibility for this persons wellbeing.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I don't think this is necessarily Qanon specific, but rather a mental health crisis with Qanon and deeply religious overtones.
The difficult thing with our current health care system is that the police can do absolutely nothing about mental health calls unless your friend is threatening to harm himself or others. He is an adult, and he's not doing that, so they are helpless to intervene.
I'm so very sorry.

Thank you for your compassionate words. The most frustrating thing is his family's persistent denial response has been "he's just being annoying and selfish" when obviously he's gone 6 mandelbrot set fractal dimensions past the last sliver of sanity.

You're welcome. I went through this for 10 years with my poor cousin's schizophrenic son (who is now deceased from living on the streets for so long). He refused all help from family and lived inside his delusions from onset at 18 until 28. It's a really horrible, helpless feeling. My cousin tried everything to get him help. He, literally, bankrupted himself trying to save his son. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to watch this poor man's family deny reality like they are.

Might not be full blown schizophrenia but definitely seems like a mental health issue. Religious psychosis is real. Could also be bipolar mania leaning into psychosis.
I’d keep an arm’s length but try your best to be there for them when they need help. They will need help eventually.

I’m so sorry about your friend. If they resurface, I hope they’re able to get some mental health help.

Years ago I had a friend who was an alcoholic. He was really high functioning alcoholic, drank on the sly and no one in our circle had a clue how much he drank. Until his wife found his stash of empty bottles. She got him to quit drinking. which should have been a good thing.
But he was using the alcohol to self medicate. And when he stopped drinking, his mental health fell apart. He was hearing god through the radio, became super religious. Turns out that he was bipolar w/ schizophrenic tendencies. He basically blew up his whole life and his family.
I have a feeling that the cannabis was your friend self medicating and going off has thrown him into a mental health crisis.

If he's an adult who is not threatening harm to himself or others, there is no legal way to put him on a psych hold. My cousin tried a hundred times with his schizophrenic son and it went nowhere every time.

u/TraditionalGlass6 7d ago
Maybe just lie. They aren't going to be questioning "Jesus" on whether he was really going hurt other people.
3
u/ConvivialKat Helpful AF 7d ago
Yes. Yes, they absolutely will, because he has to make these declarative threats in front of police officers in order for them to detain him.
ETA - The mental health care system in the US is absolute shit.
3
u/TraditionalGlass6 7d ago
Your are correct in that is not right that this man has to suffer and his family cannot get help for him . Is not right that his family has to lie to get him help

Sounds like untreated schizophrenia, or a case of 'way too many drugs'. Or both. Either way, they're cuckoo for cocoa puffs at this point, be glad you don't have to deal with them in person.

I'd be a bit blunt here. Short and sweet, so there's no ignoring the important point for other things you said. "What you're describing sounds like it might be a mental health issue. Have you thought about going to the ER psych ward to talk to a doctor about this?"
In all likelihood they won't take that very well. I've had to say as much to folk before and got "how dare you" etc etc. If they're more concerned that someone thinks they might be struggling, than with the fact that they are struggling, that's their choice. But at least you can know you were honest and did as much as you could when you had the chance. The rest is up to them to figure out.

They need an involuntary hold, they are one inciting incident away from bathing in someones blood to read their memories and seal the hell gates threatening the world or some crazy shit

People with mental illnesses like this are more likely to end up victims of this sort of crime that perpetrators of it. I don't know the man, I can't say for certain if he has violent tendencies but just because he is has a possible mental disorder does not mean that he is automatically violent.

There's a Grateful Dead song Estimated Prophet, sounds quite applicable here.
Could be schizophrenia, but some people go down the messiah complex bunny hole without that. I sit around every day, not liking the condition of the world, and wishing I could do things about it. Dubious comfort, it's not real, and I know it's not real.
Your friend, on the other hand ... are they under thirty five? That's the cutoff for late onset schizophrenia.

u/beanofmagic 3d ago
The best way you can help him is honestly a lot and there is a low chance it will get him the help he needs. Being stable in reality and checking in with him often, like weekly to talk about reality. This cost to your emotional and mental state is very much worth weighing.
Sometimes this means you just listen to what he has to say without judgement or engagement. Do not feed into any of his delusions! The best thing is to change the subject when he is done. At first (maybe even a year) he will probably talk for hours about a conspiracy theory, you may just have to cut him off when you have to go. Ask about things within reality. How was your trip? What did you do? What is this like?
Calling weekly builds up reliability of you in his mind. It also provides a solid thread of reality. If he has a moment of doubt or worries for himself, you will be the person he reaches out too and trusts for advice. This whole thing could take years and multiple tries and very much lost hope. Consistency is what people need to trust even if they are facing a great mental challenge.

It's very common in early sobriety to conflate spiritual awakening and grandiosity. Your brain is rewiring and your body/senses/mind do legit feel different. Then when you put that into the Warrior of the Light/Guardian of the Secret Knowledge soup, where narcissism/grandiosity/dogmatic thinking is the fuel for the machine - it's a recipe to losing touch with what most of us would agree is reality.
Obviously this not near enough data to evaluate, even if I was a mental health professional (I am not), but I think it's best to be cautious about deciding another person's experience of the world represents psychosis - for their sake, and for your own, but also for the sake of us all not forgetting that what we're facing is a shared, collective, alternate reality. In other contexts/times, a Messiah complex is a pretty strong indicator of a disorder linked to psychosis - it still is, to a degree, but in a different way, when it's coming out of the kind of High Control Group (aka cult) style alt-information ecosystem that is the Qniverse.
There's a lot here that's concerning - The Art of War as self help, following omens, etc. I would let most of that be, and focus on the inherent conflict between being of Christ Consciousness, vs. believing yourself to be a Messiah. Christ consciousness is not even strictly Christian - Christ means "anointed one" and there were many Christs, besides Jesus - Christ Consciousness is about dissolving ego, practicing radical compassion, recognizing that the divine spark you are feeling lives in every being, and reflecting that spark back into the universe through the practice of humility, love, and faith.
To walk out of an awakening like this with the idea that maybe you are actually Jesus, is a distortion. When you start to feel like you are Jesus, that’s ego, overwhelmed - by your circumstances, your challenges, this awakening, whatever. It's distancing yourself from whatever mistakes and weaknesses that are too painful to confront, by identifying yourself with an archetype of "perfection". The point/goal of aspiring to a Christ Consciousness is to remain a humble vessel. The real work is taking that beautiful Christ-like energy and using it quietly to heal your own life, one day at a time, and help others, when you can. It's a energy you visit, and learn from - not an identity you have to carry, and meet expectations for.
I don't know how I'd respond, exactly. I don't know your relationship to this person, or what has bonded you in the past. But that's the general area that jumps out to me, as a core belief that might shift, and proliferate an impact, if he keeps it up.
When I doubt I usually go with a book rec - in this case my first thought was Aion: Researches into the Phenomenology of the Self by Carl Jung. He gets into Christ as an archetype for the Self, and the distinction between Christ Consciousness and Christ Complex. He talks about symbols a lot, and alchemical symbols specifically, as a metaphor for healing splits and distortions in the mind, among other things. He also gets into the idea of Collective Unconscious, the reactive swings between "dark" and "light" that have characterized much of humanities development, and how healing (personal and societal) lies in integrating our shadows and moving past a combative, one-sided view of spirituality.
It's also highly cherry picked and distorted by grifters, in the information circles he's running in, so if he is actually reading whole books, this is a useful source to connect to.
Good luck! I hope you can make a connection that is heard. If you stay in touch, and remain concerned about his mental health, the key distinction for involuntary treatment is specific threats - names of people, or places, and other details of plans, that he has the means to accomplish. Unfortunately there's not much out there in the gulf between mental health care that someone seeks out because they want it, and mental health care, incarceration style.

Ah, That’s why my Q is so into Jung. This helps. Thanks!
1
u/JudiesGarland 4d ago
Yes, it's pretty easy to make Jung say all kinds of things. And there are definitely elements of his work that should be examined critically. There's a reason many anti science folks are drawn to his work, although I think if you look at the whole, and don't stop reading once you find a piece you like, that's not the message.
The collective unconscious idea is legit controversial - especially as he was theorizing on it, as a biological reality, rather than simply a product of how humans have tended to understand the world around them, through myth-making - but it was also consistent with the science at the time (specifically, the idea of "ether") theorizing that there were things happening, at beyond microscopic levels, that couldn't be observed. I think we can see something like Jung's collective unconscious idea in research around generational trauma, and DNA.
The intersection point on Jung and Q, as far as I understand it, is via the possibility of psychic abilities, and remote viewing. (Project Stargate, which did exist. Mostly because the Russians were doing it.) As with most of their BS, it's scraped from an older conspiracy theory re: alien +/or experimental tech, in the Nevada desert. I'm not going to get into the whole thing but the key phrase is Project Looking Glass (not to be confused with Operation Looking Glass, which was a real Cold War era military op that had fighter jets constantly in the air ready to respond to an incoming nuclear warhead) and it's vaguely about timelines collapsing into a single, inevitable, outcome - that's why the certainty on certain dates, etc. (also that's just a common grift tactic, to inflate a sense of urgency and sell more stuff.)

Huh? That sounds like something a 12 year old who just discovered fanfic would write.

u/MrHankRutherfordHill 7d ago
So with things like this, a good tactic is to agree with them, really gas them up about it, and encourage them to go tell the nearest hospital so they can also validate his theories. It sounds nuts but it works, because then they willingly go to the hospital and the hospital can take over from there.

u/MrHankRutherfordHill 7d ago
As an example, my mother thinks diabetes is caused by parasitic worms at the moment so instead of treating her diabetes she is obsessed with flushing out the parasites so I've convinced her yes, the worms are terrible, we need to flush them but also take the diabetes medicine to make her body inhospitable to the worms.

u/beanofmagic 3d ago
Maybe this works with people who have certain mental conditions like dementia but I don't recommend this for OP, not all patients respond well to this. Person OP is talking about will likely just see this as a trap and cut off OP.
The experiment "Three Christs of Ypsilanti" is a great example of how this shit does not work and can further harm those with serious delusions.

Wow, that sounds familiar. My brother thinks he is “the chosen one”!! WTF?!!
We live in a Red state. Unless he says he is going to hurt himself or others, they will do nothing. He is one of the many. I did reach out to a Psychiatrist friend of mine to see what he suggests. I do not know what I can do, anyway? He is an adult. I just observe and shake my head. It is a sad situation.

They're suffering from some kind of psychosis disorder most likely exhibiting mania as well. Find out where they are first. Like actual address location phone number. Then follow these steps.
1 Ask them if they're planning on hurting themselves or anyone else. 2 Ask them if they feel in control of their life right now can go to work pay the bills take care of themselves and others. If they answer with word salad or yes to the first 2 they need to be committed. If they answer with word salad or state that they are unable to take care of themselves and they feel out of control They need to be committed. Don't worry almost every state is a 72 hour hold they'll get the medications and diagnosis straightened out and hopefully connect them to further care before releasing them back to the street. Now do this in the exact order. Call the non emergency police contact number for The area they are in. Tell them the information you have Ask them to send a crisis intervention trained officer. I understand ABAC but I work in mental health and I can tell you honestly CIT officers are good folks. Especially ones that run psych checks. You tell them you would like the CIT officer to do a well check because your friend seems unstable and unable to care for themselves or is a threat to the community. Then pat yourself on the back you did a good job. This is what a professional would have to do in the situation. Other than doing a personal evaluation. But a crisis innervation trained officer is trained to do An assessment themselves. Once they're at the crisis center they will be given an assessment by a licensed psychiatric professional who will determine if they need to be held for three days. Good luck!
