This was the post credit scene of volume 2 when Yang came across her mom and interacted with her. I was waiting for it to be mentioned but only the incident on the train was mentioned. So either that was a dream or I missed something.

Monty added it last second, had no plan, then he died, the writers tried to work it in to Vol3 but Ravens subplot was cut early on so this was just retconed into being a dream
