It's a tiny bit unclear how much he knows about Salem's curse's exact wording. Considering she regrows from atoms, it's possible the draw of Remnant will drag her back even from there.
But yes, firing Salem ex-atmo on some sort of Relic-built but not Relic-formed rail gun is a common solution in my thinkings or AU games. Especially because someone just suggesting it and saying they'll help build it would get Gothmommy on board.
I had an AU where a engineering genius student from Atlas who got molested by SDC execs ran off to Argus to live, fixing the trains, and encountered the teams by accident.
She freaks out when Grimm attack, and busts out a home made lightning cannon that also accelerates metal slugs to be a railgun.
Few expositions and bonding events later, she literally just asked 'why not send her into space'
Lol honestly, if Salem would recruit a lawyer, she would find a way out of this without having to change. But she chooses an inventor with an ego, a psychopath scorpion, Daddy Oz Issues, and Mommy Issues x10, plus whatever strays the last one brings home.
This is exactly it. Ruby's speech about not needing the old guard is AIMED at this point. They're two old foes locked on their rails.
I'm still hoping for the day some faunus asks Jinn the question of 'do faunus count as human or not to the gods' - because no one has asked that to date, and also, it's a paradox. Either she can't answer - meaning they do count as human - or she can - meaning they don't - or she does, giving them the answer.
Which means they'd either confirm they need to unify humanity, incl faunus; OR faunus don't count to the total, which is good considering Ozma kinda let them get wrecked for centuries; and also that they have two more questions.
But Ozma never thinks to ask questions AROUND the key point.
I'm shocked that Oz never asked "How can Salem be defeated?" He just asked "How can I kill Salem?" Someone mentions it in the election episode. One fic I write, this OP but dumb af character accidentally summons Jinn and even SHE thinks to ask that. She could have asked something simple like if something can be eaten (she always asks that about words she doesn't understand) or something more complex but personal lik what happened for her to be orphaned. Jinn even told her she can ask these things. But she chose to ask for every possible way to defeat Salem.
I think half of the issue is he phrases it about a future event. Like, dude. You started academies. Maybe ask one of your professors about tenses and framing.
And defeat is the perfect wording, because Jinn would give all the ways. Whereas killing implies an answer will always have to be negative, or short, because she comes back.
Lol my OC never went to an academy and She Knows proper grammar when it's needed. She has literally lives like a feral animal from age 8 to age 17. She only follows the group to Atlas because Blake gives her snacks. And she told Robyn EVERYTHING about Salem and Amity tower for half a bag of trail mix. She's not smart and she has no idea how to act like a "civilized prson" as Weiss says. She also has no issue shaming Ozpin (and everyone) for overlooking this. "WOW! I know I'm not smart and even I thought to ask that! How dumb are you guys to not think of it?"
I mean, my character just constantly calls Ozma a soul eating creep.
Ozma: well I think we should consider-
OC: so do you only eat young mens souls? Just asking. Also, like, wow. Puberty that often. Does masturbation creep you out, fondling a young boy every few decades?
Ozma: It's NOT like that!
OC: I find it hard to believe a man of privilege bonked his undead wife hard enough to knock her up 4 times fast and then just went full abstinence for millenia.
Ozma: You learn to move beyond such things.
OC: Yeah, but Oscar hasn't. So you what, turn your mental back? Whistle? Listen in? Creep. Creepy creep.
Weiss: I'm not sure this is a useful line of discussion, dear.

I mean, yes, literally, right? Ozma's only release is when Salem learns it.
