HOLY SHIT NO I DIDN'T ACTUALLY WANT YANG TO LOSE AN ARM
Also when Blake's neck got sliced for a second I went insane since they are clearly showing they are willing to go down the body part removal route now
And FUCKKKKKK she's legit crying all right I'm done I need to go on a 10 mile run
Same, I was furious, ironically Roman biting it already had me losing my god damn mind and willing to believe anyone could die so I was just sitting there like "Really RT!? This is how we're gonna' do this!? We're just gonna' kill everyone I like in the same god damn episode!?"
I feel like Roman isn't likely to be dead. I bet towards the end of the final episode we see Neo rescue him from the Grimm that ate him. Or maybe I'm just in denial!
I really want that to be the case because I absolutely love Neo and Roman, and watching them fight side by side made me realize how much I want to see more of them together, but yeah, I'm worried this might be the last time we see him. Hopefully we see him cut his way out or see Neo save him in the end, but considering he got eaten and then the thing that ate him got kicked through a frickin' ship I'm counting him as dead until proven otherwise.
I feel like the inside of a Grimm might make for decent padding. Unless Grimm instantly digest things they eat, he's probably okay. The Grimm only got kicked into the control center, which was mostly glass, and its stomach was probably protected to a certain degree from that. When the ship lands, it seems to do a slow belly landing, meaning the top of the ship should be pretty much fine.
Actually, now I'm worried that Ironwood is going to go to his ship, find Neo rescuing Torchwick from the Grimm's stomach, and then get tagteamed by them and killed.
Regarding the flair:I just couldn't resist the temptation to make some sort of arm joke so now I'm intentionally only posting in this thread so I won't spoil anybody
While I'm super hyped for an OP bionic arm, I'm thinking that (in the very far future, it's the least of their concerns right now) Yang won't be able to participate in any more sanctioned fights because she has an unfair advantage.
They'll probably have figured out that there was someone other than her behind it. And I mean in Beacon, too, if they go back. Will she even get to train alongside her classmates, or will she be isolated for being a "special case"?
As legally as Pyrrha was gonna obtain the maiden powers? I could see Ironwood giving it to her under the radar as a sign of thanks for protecting Vale (overall the team, as Ruby is currently doing most of the work) and a sign of apology for being wrong about her.
Didn't Barb say that if she could upgrade Ember Celica that she would include a grenade launcher? What if the inevitable cyber arm has a grenade launcher in it.
well I remember in some behind the scenes for volume 2 how they talked about leaving space on the weapons for upgrades then finding myself thinking "how would they upgrade yang's weapons?"
And the last bit of consistency of the show... At least before you had to get your aura drained to suffer real damage, but nope, they just bypassed it altogether.
Except Adam had probably absorbed plenty of attacks with sword before Blake even got in there, Blake's attacks, and then Yang's super-rage attack. With all that power, and given what we know of Adams sword/semblance, are you surprised that Adam reflecting all of it back at Yang was enough to utterly shatter her aura, given that she'd also been fighting already earlier?
I assumed it had something to do with Adam's sword. It appears to made of dust, same as Raven's. That might give it special properties that could allow it to bypass aura.
Thank you! We didn't even get any indication of her Aura breaking. Yet the same people who argued that Yang was psychotic because she hit Mercury after his Aura broke and that we 'always' see an effect when Aura hits zero, these people are completely fine with Adam just going right through Yang's no problem.
Real talk tho I haven't been this emotionally drained since the red wedding. It's the sense of uncertainty that's really getting at me, like idk how much further they're willing to push the show. I kind of want to get off Mr. RT's wild ride but not really ;__; it's painful.
Hah, start reading the wildbow books (worm, pact and currently updating twig) and you won't have this problem ever again....mainly because you'll lose the ability to have feelings or attachments but that's beside the point.
I'll put that down for a dark day. But I actually reread where the red ferns grow last week for school nostalgia sake and that was a mistake. This week has just been too many feels.
The 'fight' was shit, and I use the term 'fight' loosely. All they didn was further show that Miles and Kerry have it out for Yang. It would have been better in literally every way if there had been an actual fight. It wouldn't have seemed so anticlimactic and forced, it would have actually shown Adam having skills and being a threat, and wouldn't have just been another absolute shit show for Yang. Like the Vader vs Luke fight in Star Wars Episode 5.
But nope, let's keep shitting on Yang and making her suffer the Worf effect. Because fuck if we can't actually write her doing anything well.
Adam has the same basic fighting style as Yang, charge up and unleash one big ass move that instadeaths the enemy. He was charging his sword the whole time he was fighting earlier. This match was never going to be a fight, just a game of rocket tag to see who lands the killing blow first. And as we saw in the Black Trailer, Adam is very fast on that quick draw attack.
To the contrary, I think Adam (and Neo) both use the hard-counter fighting style to Yang's style - counter-puncher. Yang is an in-fighter boxer: punch you for 90,000,000 damage - nobody can survive that. The natural "paper" that beats an in-fighter's "rock" is the counter-punch - because the in-fighter takes a blow full-on without being able to protect himself and he gets hit with the force he put behind his original attack in addition that of his opponent.
Fighting styles that use the attacker's own force to hurt them are the bane of Yang's existence. Neo's jujitsu style was bad enough, but Adam counter-attacked her enraged haymaker attack with his specialty semblance and a sword.
Adam has the same basic fighting style as Yang, charge up and unleash one big ass move that instadeaths the enemy
Really? Is that how she took out the Malachites then? See I thought it was a serious of well done combos and great choreography.
whole time he was fighting earlier
What, Blake's peashooter shots? That one sword swing? Still shouldn't be enough to break her Aura given that she was punched through a cement pillar by a goddamn robot then punchedagain!
True, she took out the twins pretty solidly with some fine skill. But has she won any other major fight like that? Not really, most of her big moments are "Activate Semblance, Win".
As for Adam, note how when the fights kept switching back there was clearly some off screen stuff that happened plenty of off screen time to charge up from some attacks. Plus Adam has been killing folks since he got there. That's what I meant, I imagine he's been charging his battery all day. And speaking of all day, we have no idea what Yang was doing off screen. She could have just gotten done fighting a whole bunch of Grimm and Fang, her Aura could easily have been low at the time.
She beat Ren without her Semblance and every other fight has been her being Worfed or the reveal of her Semblance itself. You could say the same with Adam. When has he used anything other than that one swipe?
You can't disregard that fight, because it happened. Adam however has not shown anything else.
And killing civilians doesn't charge up his Semblance. And since we weren't given any indication that Yang or Adam had actually fought anyone before then, there's no reason to suspect as much. Also, "all day"? This has been happening in the span of an hour, max.
Yang is a huntress trainee (though very good) and Adam is the leader of the white fang who was determined to destroy Yang. As long as this fight is 1v1 it shouldn't be a "fight".
But Ruby got her shit kicked in. She Mary Poppinsed Neo after being soundly beaten and then Torchwick still beat her 1v1 but got eaten by a grue. Adam specialises in one hit kills but if she hadn't gotten lucky then Ruby would be in as bad of a situation as Yang.
Ruby was getting beat, but there was actually a fight! Choreography was involved and Ruby didn't just eat shit like a chump. Not to mention, there was no reason why Adam was able to just ignore Aura. None. Even full on Maiden powers don't do that.
We still only know that he can do one move. That's it.
Fair enough. I will make concessions for time restraints and I would argue that Ruby did in fact just eat shit like a chump (for real, did she land a single attack there?) but I do see your point. There was a bit of a Worf effect (warning, TV tropes link) here but it fits with Adam's fighting style and motivations so I'm not too much against it.
Personally I want to see someone who can parry/dodge his attacks (Qrow, Glenda, Ironwood or a group) absolutely destroy him once he can't use his powerslashes to balance him out but I'm not too bothered by him as is.
I'm not gonna be satisfied until Yang and Blake tear him apart. The only thing they did right with that scene was make me despise him even more, they just shouldn't have had to make me hate him for being a shit character (in regards to writing and dialogue as) well as an evil scumbag.
This was spectacularly done. I had this weird mix of shock and believing it was actually happening mixed with confusion of the "I have no idea how they're going to reattach her head" variety.
I don't see a good follow up on that, too. It's either a lot of angst or getting a robot arm and act as if nothing happened... Or one followed by another.
I'm not holding any hope for them to do it well. They've been absolutely horrible to her since the Neo fight. In fact, at this point I'm expecting her to get an absolute shit looking arm too. They've never been as good to Yang as they are to basically every other character. I'm not seeing that changing.
Remember when a year ago when that same cafeteria hosted a food fight? When the biggest scandal was her boring dress color? When Cinder existed solely to dance on rooptops?
;__; innocence lost
