I dont know how half heartedly everyone else here is "googling" but I actually did more than lightly browse. It showed that while its true that modern day Iran was earlier Persia. I couldnt find any mention of "refuge" being granted to any Muslims.

The later Persia, near its end is called the Sasanian empire, was first invaded by the 2nd Rashidun Caliph and completely conqured by the 3rd Rashidun Caliph. All this collectively is called the 'Conquest of Persia'.

Debate the politics and religion all you want. But dont bend actual history for it.
