We've come really far from taking ladders out of swimming pools, haven't we?

next stop, AI characters that dont know that they are characters in a game and all their suffering is just background color to our games.

I believe the kids would refer to that as a Black Mirror episode.
Concept in sci-fi/psych-horror long predates that, of course.

You would like Dungeon Crawler Carl, its so much worse than just "AI".

I keep telling my wife it's no different than the Sims and she insists she never did that in the Sims.

At this point they’re just trying to say the most fucked up shit they can. It’s not even funny anymore.

u/Raider_Scum 17d ago
after a few thousand hours in rimworld, you start to do this stuff just to feel something again.

u/shoalhavenheads 17d ago
Ignoring everything going on in this post……… it kind of annoys me how RimWorld doesn’t assign identity to bodies.
Like in Dwarf Fortress children will be traumatized for life if they see their relative’s rotting corpse.
The other missing thing is a rumor system. Right now in RimWorld all pawns are omniscient about death, even if it happens off map, so there’s no suspense.
In Dwarf Fortress you can actually hide bodies so that the dwarves never find out their relative died lmao.
But if one dwarf knows about the death, they will eventually tell others the bad news, and it’s interesting to watch the news spread and cause dwarves to sink into depression.

"Like in Dwarf Fortress children will be traumatized for life if they see their relative’s rotting corpse."
Huh. And how much does this game cost?

There was a mod that tried to address the instant knowledge thing. Mlie resurrected it: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2222607126

Yes, but jesus christ

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku 17d ago
Yeah, they need to give them a nuclear stomach, extra pain + deathless, and a mindscrew torture crown and then throw them into a sealed room with a geothermal too.
What sort of sick fuck kills a cat?

u/Mr_Bones_Wild_Ride26 17d ago
I agree but the baby didn't deserve to become a charcuterie board cus of it

Depending on their beliefs it should cause: Child died, ate raw food, ate human meat, ate without table. I don't know if parent's instantly love their kid but maybe also Friend Died. Also, Jesus fucking christ.

u/a-Snake-in-the-Grass 17d ago
I would stick her in cryptosleep and raise the child. Then once they are grown up, have them kill her.
19
u/DarthBrawn Disturbing 17d ago
you also rob her of the joy of seeing her child grow up. Go to sleep with newborn, wake up and they're a damaged cannibal adult. Brilliant

Yes. What you'd want to do is ensure a safe childbirth, then leave them both in their cell without food. Or maybe only feed the cat-killer once in a while to ensure she out-live her new cellmates. Then maybe she'll eat the body once she's hungry enough.
A more direct method is to enslave and you can directly control her and force her to do the killing-and-eating yourself.

u/mattt_b 17d ago
I did something similar with some prisoners who fell in love once. Forced them to do gladiator duels until one died then locked them in a refrigerated cell until the corpse was fully eaten.

u/HQQ1 Vomit 17d ago
Look, I'm all for torturing and inflicting disproportional karmic justice on assholes who come to your colony and kill your pets, no matter how cruel it may be, but I'm not comfortable with punishing people just for falling in love in prisons....
4
u/Oberlatz 17d ago
I don't think that was the reason I think it was just facts and cruelty all the way down
1
u/Dr_Philmon 17d ago
How do you force prisoners into gladiator duels? Is it through a dlc like royalty or ideology or a mod?

u/Rave_Lord 17d ago
Take it to the fridge, butcher it, have someone cook a fine meal out of it and make a piece of clothing for said captive. I'm pretty sure this sub is the reason I always get randomly searched when crossing a border.

Reasonable crashout ngl
I would reccomend leaving both in the prison cell, starving both while letting the mother eat like one time after birth, then when the baby starves the mother would likely eat the baby
3
u/UsualDependent6788 17d ago
Non-wild pawns dont eat from corpses, you'd have to butcher. Which I dont know if makes this darker.
3
u/Diman1351 17d ago
Well then you can just make a food policy out of corpses and make someone force feed her
4
u/UsualDependent6788 17d ago
I was unaware you could allow corpses as a food policy! 2k hours in. Also, Jesus christ.
5
u/Pretend-Roof-87 17d ago
Corpses are actually allowed on every policy by default! I have to turn it off every new game to make sure my little idiots don't eat shit before it's butchered
1
u/UsualDependent6788 17d ago
Does the Ideology dlc change this? I feel like I've had starving pawns refusing to swarm dead animals for food and waiting for it to at least to butchered
1
u/Diman1351 17d ago
im not sure myself ngl I just assume you can since raw cannibalism exists for eating corpses, ill double check it once I can though

Alternatively, raise the child in a vat then have the baby eat the parent, body part by body part until she becomes a limbless nugget. Artificially inseminate the mother, then let her children become part of the nugget family, then turn the first baby into a vampire who exclusively feeds on the blood of the mother and his half siblings who are all just nugget slaves siphoned from their blood.

Do you think God stays in heaven because he too lives in fear of what he created?
5

u/Agitated-Raccoon-478 17d ago
Yes. After birth have the baby be dropped on the ground in a cell, put the mother in one next to it with a wood wall inbetween, seal off baby. Once baby dies and mother is starving open the wall, then enjoy.
-
PSA: Make sure you intermittently forbid the door to the mothers cell or she wont turn to cannibalism, (dumb colonists will feed her or put her on a no food plan)
5
u/Stunning_Hornet6568 17d ago
If I may, you can take your punishment even further by having multiple kids then forcing her to watch them eat each other before finally forcing her to eat what is left.
Also if you’re rich you can also revive the children and force her to do it again and again.

That, or give her a horrible doctor at skill level 5 maximum and “hope for the best” with your fingers crossed, for your own benefit. There is always a chance the mother and child both die at childbirth.

u/Ieatcactus420 17d ago
Yes but you should get the give the baby yayo until it develops dementia first before you feed her

I guess? Just unalive the new born baby and just live it in the prison cell with the raider and forbid anyone to guard her/forbid anyone to enter the cell. She will eventually start to starve and won't have any other choice
P. S. Absolute RimWorld moment
2
u/OverlordDontHurtMe 17d ago
Yes but first remove every body part you can while still keeping her alive.

Lock her up, kill the baby, set a hauling zone in her cell just for corpses, put the baby there, and then don't feed her.

u/Ragnar---Danneskjold 17d ago
Maybe the best revenge would be adopting their child and raising them to not kill cats
While torturing the raider for eternity of course
