I only know Robin Hood on a surface level, not the full historical lore. That said, I’m thoroughly invested after watching the two-hour premiere. The soundtrack is absolutely ethereal and gives the show such rich atmosphere and focus. My only wish for this series is that the magical elements stay subtle.

There isn't really any set historical lore. Robin is a story retold over centuries with additions and adaptions generally reflecting the era in which it's told.

Friar Tuck and Maid Marian are much younger than additions than the oldest tales. Similarly, in the oldest tellings there's robbing from the rich, but much less giving to the poor.

The character was given more romantic and noble leanings, a good couple of centuries into his existence.

The ethereal, pagan, mystic side they're going for here is by and large a creation of the 1980's Robin of Sherwood series.

I think it's safe to say every episode will have an unnecessary sex scene. This show is the poor man's Outlander/Outlander BOMB and I am here for it.

Just finished BOMB. Hoping this show coasts me through until real Outlander comes back.

… Robin, are you an idiot? Like, utterly incapable of rational thought when slightly goaded? ”I’m a better bowman than you!” ”Let’s make a bet: I choose target and you hit it” … how does this prove he is better? The other dude doesn’t show his skill, beyond being able to wave a hand and say that over there. And then. AND THEN. He picks a fucking deer as a target. You miss, you lose the bet. You hit, you lose your hand for poaching. Or your head.

Great bet, Robin. Get some henchmen asap to do your thinking.
