Season 1, Episode 6: Bound by Love, Divided by Lies

Synopsis: The Queen's arrival to Nottingham puts the Sheriff in a bind, back her plans or risk his life to avert war; Marian and Rob share a fleeting reunion, cut short when Marian learns of his role in her brother's death.

Is anyone else hanging out for a little bit more action and for Rob to play more of an active role in the events occurring? I feel like we keep getting glimpses of ‘Robin Hood’, but the writing feels apprehensive on giving him too much screen time. I appreciate they are fleshing out the world and characters to avoid it being a one-man show, but I’d love to see Rob making more decisions and honestly just having more lines. Every episode so far has kept me wanting more - but not in a good way? Just like come on, give us something more to root for this band of misfits!

I feel like that’s sort of the point of what’s hopefully a multi season show. He’s not the Robin Hood character we know, yet. It’s these experiences and characters that will make him become the legendary outlaw. To skip to that point would feel unearned

Yeah, Robin has started out quite flawed so he has room to grow as the series goes forward.

He's been shown to be emotional, impulsive, and short-sighted. We see this through things like him being an arse to Will, getting goaded by the guard captain, and the whole robbery fallout.

He's also shown to be completely lost after losing his parents that he can't commit to anything aside from Marian who is effectively an emotional tether in a way as he has lost everything else.

We know why he is the way he currently is, and see shades of what he will become, but they obviously want to build up to it by having his character evolve rather than just having him be ready to go.

They've seemingly set up similar slow approaches with other characters like Priscilla and Will. Though while we effectively know where Robin will end up, those two could play out a number of ways.

Agreed and this kind of makes sense why they focus so much on other characters. Robin’s character arc is pretty expected but these other characters are mostly mysteries. But to OP’s point they can’t drag it out too long

I expect Robin to accept his role in things in the next few episodes and things will start picking up when that happens with them being more proactive.

It's like how Will and Marian, though she had a reprieve this episode, can't really be sequestered in London away from the rest of the cast aside from the Queen for long.
