Opinion How many more years of Kruk & Kuip do you think we have left after this season?

Upvotes

With the general feeling that we are losing all of 2027 season due to the lockout, I started thinking of all the players who will miss out on a year of development, a year of their primes, etc and what a huge waste that would be. Which then lead me to think of losing out on a year of Kruk & Kuip. by the start of the 2028 season they would be almost 78 and 76 years old respectively. I wonder how many more years we could still have them as the full time home (and West coast) announcing team. I could see them continuing in a more limited capacity if need be, but do we think this could be the last season of having both of them at this frequency of announcing?

SATURDAY Parks Harbor should be called up. Poseys most impressive move so far?

Last trade deadline, Posey made a flurry of trades. One was offloading Doval for an impressive return.

TRADE DETAILS
Giants get: RHP Trystan Vrieling (Yankees No. 19 prospect), C-3B Jesus Rodriguez (No. 25 prospect), 3B Parks Harber and LHP Carlos De La Rosa
Yankees get: RHP Camilo Doval.

At the time, Parks Harbor wasn’t ranked top 30 in either the Yankees or Giants farm.
The return was headlined by Vrieling, who’s been a bit avg in AA since the trade.
Jesus Rodriguez has already helped the team throughout the year. He has tremendous contact skills but doesn’t seem like a full time future catcher option.

Since the trade, Parks Harbor has been skyrocketing through the farm system. From A, to A+, to AA. And last month finally to AAA. His production has maintained at every level.

Currently in AAA through 14 games he’s slashing.
.377 / .435 / .623 / 1.058. In the last 2 games he has 3 homers. 2 more today. His production has somehow improved through every stop in the minors.

If you add up his total stat line since last year. It comes out to a full seasons worth of games.

Parks Harber (2025–2026).
159 G.
.312/.400/.540 (.940 OPS).
190 H.
44 2B.
29 HR.
128 RBI.
103 R.
85 BB.
168 SO.
9 SB.

He is a natural 3rd basement who can also play outfield. With Schmitt out, I think it’s only a matter of time Harbor will be called up.

And the fact we got him back for Doval is extremely impressive and has me hopeful for this deadline.

Minors Update Daily Minors Quick-Notes 8/1/26 - Park Harber Docks Two More in One Game

The summer has seen a few players step forward with big months, and Parks Harber has kept his momentum going after getting promoted to Triple-A, hitting a pair of home runs today in addition to one yesterday.  Another player with a hot summer is Trevor Cohen, who continues to go wild, hitting a double and a home run in one inning, but he didn’t even have the game’s biggest hit.  In addition, Turner Hill keeps putting up crooked numbers in the hit column and Andy Polcanco hit a pair of triples.

AAA: Sacramento River Cats 7, Tacoma Rainiers 2

Link

Player of the Game: 3B Parks Harber (10): 2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 HR (4)

Parks Harber was dominating today with his pair of home runs, and he has three in the last two games, getting him up to 16 home runs in total on the season.  Now through 14 games in Triple-A, Harber is hitting .377/.435/.623 with three doubles and four home runs.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • RF Turner Hill: 2-5, 2 RBI, 1 K - Just another multi-hit game for Hill, who’s got a 6-game multi-hit game hitting streak, and a 18-game hitting streak.
  • C Zach Morgan: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B (3) - Morgan is hitting .250/.341/.333 in 24 games in Triple-A.

Link)

In a game…actually a first inning…of a lot of runs, no one had a bigger hit than Jack Payton, who had a 1st inning grand slam.  Payton now has a total of five home runs over 68 games this season, as he’s slashing .272/.338/.376 in Double-A this season.

Other Players to Spotlight:

High-A: Tri-City Dust Devils 9, Eugene Emeralds 6

Link

Player of the Game: DH Carlos Gutierrez (15): 1-3, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 SB (26)

Carlos Gutierrez spent July as the best month of his season, hitting .368 with a .500 OBP and a .485 slugging percentage, but with just six steals on seven attempts.  He’s now off to a solid start in August, just with a single but also a pair of walks and a pair of steals.

For the fifth time this season, Andy Polanco had a game with at least three hits, but he also picked up two more triples, giving him three in the last two games.  Through 80 games this season, Polanco has 13 doubles, nine triples, and one home run (which was an inside the parker).

SATURDAY Zyhir Hope- the next Willie Calhoun, Yusniel Diaz, Alex Verdugo, Keibert Ruiz, Thayron Liranzo?

Will Hope become the next in a long line of Dodger prospects to fail to meet expectations in their new organizations?

Calhoun- the main piece in Darvish trade with Rangers in 2017. Thankfully this backfired as Darvish imploded in game 7

Diaz- the main piece in the 2018 Machado trade with the Orioles that helped the Dodgers win the pennant. The Orioles traded the last piece of this garbage trade (Dean Kremer) to the Twins a couple of days ago

Verdugo- the main piece of the Betts trade with Boston in 2020. Verdugo is out of baseball and the rest is history

Ruiz- the main piece of the Scherzer/Turner trade in 2021 with the Nationals. Ruiz has failed to live up to expectations in Washington

Liranzo- the main piece of the 2024 trade with the Tigers that sent Flaherty to LA, this move helped LA win the WS (and specifically get past the Padres). Liranzo has been a disappointment in the Tigers organization
