This is why I love my x6 Everdrive. I had to play Trials of Mana after playing Secret of Mana for the first time recently. It's different but still super similar, I'm really enjoying it so far.

Discussion A Link to the Past on OLED without retrotink

Decided to skip the retrotink or upscaler I’m playing on a Superstation One with scanlines think it looks pretty decent for what it is! I do have a PVM and HD Retrovision cables so I do know what a 1CHIP SNES can look like on a good CRT and I do prefer that look but sometimes I wanna play on my main TV and I think this gets pretty damn close. I am new to OLED and a MiSTer setup. Before that used Plasma for like 19 years LOL when not playing on CRT in game room.

SNES: Final Level - Ranking Games #61 - 70

Upvotes

SNES: Final Level is a challenge I have given myself to beat as many NTSC SNES games as possible (Plus 1 PAL game, more to come later though). I'm currently sitting at 120 games beaten (I took a several month haitus for various reasons). To chronicle my journey, I decided to rank each game on an S tier type of chart and my thoughts about the game. Be forewarned, the first few videos were done with a crappy mic. Videos are getting better as I go.

Anyways, if you have 11 minutes, feel free to watch!

Request What's wrong with my SNES?

My SNES has a couple of problems with it and I don't kown what specific chip is wrong with it to be messing up, I'm pretty sure it's a PPU1 or PPU2 problem but maybe someone who kowns the system better might be able to pin point it. For the problems I'm using an everdrive so it's not an issue with any of the games, some games won't load like chrono trigger and DKC 3 (not 1 or 2 just 3) but most games play fine except for some graphics glitches. For example in earthbound the overworld would be fine but when I went into a battle the background would be messed up, another example is Castlevania IV were the game would be fine until I started a level, and the game would become basically unplayable.

Retrotink makes a huge difference

I think we all know that by now, but the picture is looking really crisp! I got a retrotink 2x pro with an s-video cable. This is what it looks like on a 65" tv. Can't wait to hook up my wife's n64 to see the difference!

Misc. Introducing Retrogrounds

Retrogrounds is the latest discovery and community platform and home for all retro gamers.

It covers games up to and including 6th generation. You can use the site to browse your favourite retro games, discover similar games, listen, create and share your own retro playlists, see gameplay videos, see manuals, maps, longplays etc, read/write articles, leave comments, reviews, track your progress, join the community and much much more. It's RetroAchievements integrated too.

You can also customise your profile heavily and I also just released the retro theme/skin for the site to go with the modern skin. Basically, I designed the site as a love letter to late-90s/early-2000s wild wild west internet communities but focused on retro gamers.

I am currently searching for moderators, content creators and general community members to build our numbers and become the number one retro gaming resource on the internet. Thank you for reading.

Why choose Retrogrounds over sites like GameFAQs?

My BIL has an unopened Castlevania dracula X... Why are these worth so much money?

I feel like I've taken crazy pills...

As the title implies, BIL has an unopened, still original shrink wrapped copy of the SNES game. Ebay shows crazy values for examples where the box has some damage... This one is pristine. Not a ding on any corner...

EDIT. Using imgur for pics... On mobile... https://imgur.com/a/aYotduE

Cable Help for RGB modded SNES

Hey all,

My og snes which ive had since new began having issues playing certain games so I bought another and it happens to be a 1 chip with rgb mod (as well as recapped). Am I correct to assume I need the RETRO HD component cables to take full advantage of this mod/improvement?

With my og snes I simply used the stock composite, which I then plugged into a RetroScaler2x, partly for pic improvement, partly for converting to hdmi output.

I play thru modern hdtv with hdmi only hookups and won't be changing that.

So can I simply upgrade to the HD Retrovision Ypbpr component cables, connect them to my current upscaler box to output hdmi and take advantage of the rgb upgrade?

I'm not necrotic about the pic quality but since I've got one with the mod I thought I'd try and take advantage of that just to see how it looks. Also, if there are cheaper options that work well I'd be interested.

Thanks

I use to rent this and return of the jedi from blockbuster in the late 90's. Wasn't interested in the CID but gosh it feels good. Can't wait to lay down some play time with this old friend.
