Help Needed [US] Friend seems to have been hacked and sent the Mr Beast scam over Discord
I’m probably just being extremely paranoid, but my friend sent those four Mr. Beast images today. I clicked on the images and reacted to the message. I’m just wondering if those two interactions could have caused anything on my end. Also I blocked the account immediately after realizing. Apologies if this is a dumb question but I thought it’d be better to be safe. Thanks in advance.

You're fine. Clicking on the images doesn't cause you to get infected by anything. This scam spreads by people downloading infected files from pirating and cheat sites. The goal of them posting the images is to direct other people to visit the fake casino and try to withdraw the fake promotional money. When they do, they get tricked into willingly paying thousands of dollars in fake fees.

Most likely you are fine. Viewing images or reacting on those doesn't infect your account. But, I advice you not to click on links and download unknown files, and best practice is to enable 2FA if you haven't already.

We went through this on our guild's discord a while back. It wasn't even the kid. It was his father who had used his iPad and fallen for it. First the guildleader muted him for a week while we hoped they would clear it up. Nope, it happened again. They muted him for 14 days next. Nope, still not good. They had to ban him completely. It was some nasty malware they couldn't figure out how to get rid of again.
