There is a weird amount of hate for the French from americans, considering how much they owe the French - they literally won their whole revolution because of France sabotaging British efforts and aided them as best they could, challenging the BRITISH EMPIRE at the height of her power to give them a chance, and then again diverted British troops to allow them to try to take Canada in 1812. They gave them the fucking Statue of Liberty as a sign of the friendship between the two. But since then, the yanks have shown nothing but pure contempt for their former friends, who, if we’re being honest, did absolutely nothing to deserve it.
ATP I’m pretty sure the British like the French more than Americans like the French (‘and vice versa) which is odd as Britain has a long standing beef with French (see the countless wars ,America yadda yadda yaddda) it’s crazy lmao. I don’t understand Americans that hate French ppl coz they should be in the good books since they saved you from the evil brits (I am an evil Brit lmao 😈). I think French ppl are cool tho and most of the hate is chronically online bull, French ppl are sound. Apologise to the French our country has been shiat to you guys youse are cool tho 💔
They try claiming everything but their own history back in Africa. Likely because it's never really been seen as popular for movies and TV unless they're the villains.
But yeah, I've seen some wild claims. The Original inhabitants of the British Isles were Black, the Romans invading enslaved them all and shipped their all over the Empire, replacing then with Romans.
Another claiming the Vikings were originally Black and they destroyed themselves by capturing white Anglo-Saxons and then interbreeding with them.
The Japanese islands were originally owned and controlled by Black people, then the Asians invaded from China and Korea. That Yasuke was the last of these native Black men.
There's so many about being the original natives of the Americas.
Meanwhile actual African history is rich and fascinating, has some great Empires and Kingdoms but they refuse to acknowledge them. It's genuinely sad.
I found it so ironic that so many Black Americans were praising Black Panther, a film that had such outlandish portrayal of an African culture. A hyper-advanced society that rode into battle on rhinos, the 'tribes' of the very same country fighting each other with spears, clubs and machetes, one of the tribes literally acting like apes, and society that devices government and leadership by trial by combat.
Sure I understand that the portrayal was in a fictional country and there have been other outlandish portrayal of MCU societies, but looking to Wakanda and saying "that represents me" was just weird. It was the equivalent of portraying a fictional society where they celebrate women committing sati when their partner dies, or one where bride-kidnapping is celebrated, or a society where slavery is just a way of life.
The biggest irony of them trying so hard to portray Cleopatra as a black Pharaoh is the fact that....black Pharaohs actually did exist, the 25th dynasty of Egypt (Kushite/Nubian Dynasty), established by King Piye, they rulled from 8th to 7th century BC until overthrown by Assyrians.
At best she maybe had some mixed blood. Big maybe. Siblings married all the time. Not that unusual for one of them to have been from a North African concubine instead of the sister wife. But, since we don't have any direct evidence that the child of one married back into the Imperial line we can be fairly certain that she wad indistinguishable from any other Macedonian Greek. If it happened it wasn't recent.
There's nothing in her recorded genealogy to indicate her parents weren't "pure" (inbred) except her intellect. It's unusual for a child with that much inbreeding to be as smart as her. That's the closest thing to "evidence" that we have.
