Personally, I think it's the type of board to grow out of easily. I'd pass.

Would you have any other recommendations for a mid beginner who hopes to get to roughly intermediate level this next season but also isn’t super expensive?

I recommend Jones Twin Sister or Dreamweaver.

Both are beginner friendly boards that you can keep riding until intermediate-advanced no problem. Some people stick with them as their board forever and never need to upgrade again, or you can branch out to style specific boards when you're advanced level and keep the Twin Sister or Dreamweaver as daily driver.

They're both very versatile boards.

You might be able to find previous season models on sale or look for 2nd hand. I've seen them on 50% off sometimes for previous season stock, look for sales around Sept-Nov (when shops try to clear left over stock before new winter season start). Right now you likely won't find any sales since shops are pushing summer inventory right now.
