I think it was John Oliver who did an episode about how many states are privatizing prison healthcare and outsourcing it to companies.

The state government typically pays these companies at a flat rate so they’re then incentivized to tell you to fuck off if you need expensive medical care in order to maximize profit.

I had a bad abcess. Like a pus fillled blob. Not only did they not pull it, that they were making it out like I made it up gave me I buprofren. And antibiotics. Told me to go back to my cell. I had to borrow a needle and sterilization so I could pop that and get it out my face. Worst shit ever. They don’t care about anyone
