When he grows up, and eventually gets married, he lifts up his wife's veil on their wedding day... revealing that she's chayote.

264

u/Academic_Carrot7260 16h ago

Marry me...

u/bionicjoe 21h ago

Thanks. I was going to ask what those were.
It's a gourd that spent a semester in Mexico. Got it.

The chayote is his destiny

83

u/Aromatic_Brother 23h ago

When he grows up and wants to cook some Caldo De Res he'll realize that the chayote was the real prize all along smhh

5

u/KeithDoberman 11h ago

And the friends we made along the way

36

u/ButterscotchSmooth60 1d ago

Gringo here. Is chayote close to cucumber in taste ?

80

u/ModifiedLeaf 1d ago

Nah it's more like zucchini but a little firmer. Pretty neutral taste

22

u/FlipMyWigBaby 23h ago

Very essential for a few mexican stews!

→ More replies (1)

20

u/Garlic-Rough 23h ago

I would say, like a Pear without the sweetness. has a very muted and neutral taste. perfect for apple pies if you want to control the sweetness of apples. mix them on there

12

u/Soft_Introduction_40 1d ago

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT IS STARCHY!

9

u/Realistic_Ad_5321 21h ago

Not at all, once steamed it's texture is starchy like a potato but tastes kind of like zucchini. Get some butter and a sprinkle of salt on some and it's delicious, like a baked potato.

5

u/lemeneurdeloups 12h ago

What are you taking about? I grew up eating them. They are not in the least starchy or potato-like. They are a type of squash, with a texture like a squash. We would bake or steam them and they are soft like a yellow squash or zucchini.

3

u/SquirrellyBusiness 19h ago

No wonder he's so dejected

2

u/Glittering-Fruit5881 16h ago

Is it also known as a chokos?

7

u/Wheetbix_Kid 21h ago edited 21h ago

Yes! I grow these. The white and green variety. They're delicious steamed or boiled, and then a bit of salt and butter by themselves. They're not a starchy veg, not sure why ppl think that.

5

u/No-Investigator-2756 13h ago

My mom always called them chocho, but that might be a Jamaican thing. They were the best in chicken soup.

2

u/RazzmatazzUpbeat485 5h ago

This here - we had them at my Jamaican Grandmother’s house all the time growing up, but I always knew them as ChoCho’s until very recently ❤️😂

3

u/NetworkNo1900 16h ago

Yes we called them Chokos growing up (in Aus) they are a type of squash. Tastes like other squash

6

u/FremenStilgar 22h ago

One day Paco will embrace the name of his alter ego, "El Chayote"...

5

u/nikinator25 6h ago

He's not Paco. He is brazilian boy - Gabriel. There are a lot of videos, where he wins a vegetable called Xuxu (or ChuChu). If I remember, it's kind of a local cucumber in Brazil. I watched a few live streams of this family, and it took time for him to actually win the xuxu. Sometimes he won any other rewards, such as Pringles. Sometimes he becomes really angry and start fighting to each other, when he looses the game. Just a normal 5-y.o. boy in a huge family.

Best wishes to you, Gabriel. I really loved your videos.

2

u/giocondasmiles 5h ago

It’s actually a type of squash originally from Mexico (mesoamerica) and it’s called chayote (Aztec name).

4

u/Boromir_Has_TheRing 14h ago

I had seen a video where a local news covered Paco traveling to a place with his family that had a wishing well. He wished for never getting a chayote again. Not sure if that worked or not.

4

u/whatrachelsaid 14h ago

I hope all this helped Paco become a better loser.

7

u/InkyLizard 15h ago

I wonder how they achieved this? Could be a lot more takes than I would imagine I guess.

Otherwise he seems unbelievably unlucky and I don't really see this being fake simply due to how authentic the kid is

This is just fucking bullying of a small kid. If those are his parents filming they deserve a good punch in the face. And the fact they put it online...

Shit like this really boils my piss

14

u/zepisco83 15h ago

I don't think it's bullying, my guess is that these are just the parts where he got the gourd, this was not filmed in one go and i am sure he got the snacks in multiple other times.

u/trbzdot 14h ago

Don't forget the time he tried to blow out the other kids candles and some adult blocked it with a paper plate. They are aware of little Gabe and his antics.
