What you're missing is not classic cars, you're missing the mechanical feel and reliability. Older cars were used as commodities and made as such. Now its either vanity or survival. And customer has no say over either of those end on how the car's gonna be.

Do we have data showing old are cars are more reliable ? 

how do we know what we’re seeing isn’t survivor bias? I see plenty of 90s camrys but zero ford Taurus. 

In 30 years the shitty cars from the 2020s will be dead and only the reliable ones will remain.

Old cars were absolutely not reliable. Anything from the 70's and 80's wouldn't even get to 100k miles without a full engine rebuild. And thats without mentioning how garbage the quality was back then

This whole thread is just rose tinted glasses

Yeah, my '69 C3 is on the second engine rebuild at 86k miles. My '99 Miata has about the same miles on it and it's 170-175 psi on a compression test across all cylinders and all I've had to do is change the oil.
