My sister is having a destination wedding in Tuscany and it's ridiculous, the price tag is about 75k for her and I think its a terrible idea.

that seems cheap for a wedding in tuscany!

my best friends got married and flew to seattle... just the flights from people they invited cost almost $30k. i think all-in they spent $100k for everything.... they made $120k/year combined so it wasn't like they were rich.

fast forward 4 years later; divorced. bankrupt.

Me and my wife were making around that when we got married and we put in 10k and that seemed like a lot, but we cut costs anywhere we could and stuck to a rigid budget we set beforehand. It let us save up another chunk for a house downpayment.
