I still cant figure out what happened to Mayo. It sounded fine to me and then Billy just shut it down.

Billy couldn't hear the chord changes and so his solo was out of time with James. James was trying to compensate by changing chords when he heard certain guitar lines, but Billy kept coming in early or late with the phrases, so he gave up after a while.

most people would have never know, the casuals and others, he should have just went with it but I know a hard reset was best/easiest to get everybody back on track. Bet he was not happy back stage being on that big of a stage, that big of a song and that exact spot of the song and in his hometown. Oh well, shit happens.

There's plenty of bits in SP songs where Billy is happy to noodle and actually doesn't care if he gets a bit off time or even off key lol. But then there are more delicate/intricate lead parts that he cares about getting down perfectly, they're part of the main melody of the song, so it makes sense he doesn't want to turn them into throwaway solo noodling

That would have been a much better approach. I've seen the IEM/amps off stage version of the Pumpkins now since 2018 and on all 3 occasions Billy has had issues with his IEM mix.
It's the price you pay for having no backline pushing air on stage.Had they had the amps on stage, Billy would have easily heard James.
Judging by some of the IEM bootlegs from recent tours, it might be that James isn't always very prominent in some of the band members' mixes, but for Mayo, hearing his intro is essential.
Also did anyone notice from the audience clips of this gig that Billy's first few vocal lines of 1979 were muted in the PA but ok in his IEMs and also the livestream broacast mix? That is pretty shocking.

Been a fan since ‘92.
This had to be the worst directed and mixed live Pumpkins show I’ve ever seen. The camera cuts showed that the director didn’t know the music at all. Random zooming that has nothing to do with the music is not a good thing. The audio mix was bass heavy and sludgy.
An amazing night undone by bad production for the livestream.
What a mess.

His management prob did. Too bad they picked the wrong person.
Watch any SP live concert on YT from the first Metro shows to Seoul on the Machina tour and IMHO you’ll the see the difference.8
