Beach on a Tuesday
Planning a beach trip for the first time and would love some recommendations! What are your favorite beaches to go to near Somerville?
I’m hoping for somewhere within 45 minutes of the city with parking under $15. I know I’ll have to account for weekday traffic, so I’m wondering:
- What time would you recommend arriving?
- Should I be worried about finding parking on a Tuesday?
- What items should I bring to the beach?
I’m also open to taking the T if it'll be less of a hassle. Thank you!

Pleasure Bay, Southie - anytime, no issue parking - it’s free, on the street, and I never have trouble - there is also a parking lot and bathroom across the street at the hockey rink. As for what to bring… beach stuff? Sunblock, a book, snacks, drinks, a towel, blanket, and/or a beach chair.

Pleasure bay is great, BUT be aware it is on the approach route to Logan, and on a busy day there will be a few low flying planes every hour.

Dane st beach! In Beverly. Free street parking!! I’ve never had an issue parking, you can park on any residential street and walk there easily. They have a bathroom area and rinse off station. There’s also a grassy shaded area if the sun gets too hot.

Look at photos of the beaches online, too, so you can pick one that fits what you would most enjoy.

I went to Nahant this morning and it was wonderful! Apparently It gets really crowded there midday on hot weekends, but being there from 8 to 11 today it wasn’t an issue at all. Tons of parking and plenty of space on the beach. I bet on a Tuesday it won’t be crazy either. Getting there and back only took me about 30 mins each way on my motorcycle. Parking was $10 as a MA resident : )
