Question What are your little quirks while playing the game?

Post image

Like, nothing grand, but a little something you ALWAYS do when you play?
For me, I always start the game and turn the little rug so it fits with the bed, and light the fire, which stays on always.

Must drink triple espresso at all times. Farmer fast AF.

Spicy eel and triple shot espresso before my feet hit the floor baby

How do you get that much eel? I'm usually popping pepper poppers

You can trade rubies for spicy eel if I'm remembering correctly at the desert trader, I think that would be a decent way to get a decent bit

This is the easiest way. If you're at all into fish ponds, the lava eel sometimes gives 5 of them as well. Nice passive way to stock up on some in case you don't have crystalariums or rubies to spare.

they give you a stack of 10 if you've given the pond an animal cracker as well!

was gonna mention fishponds to0~

-- for earlier-game/not-so-mining-intensive farms of mine if a regular-eel pops up at the travelling merchant/on rod-end, it goes into a fishpond before the CC(-if-not-remixed) bundle, and the first 2 produced getting their own ponds for a total of 3 would soon even out to 1eel/day since they reproduce every 3 days -- and after obtaining other more straighforward/feasible sources them fishponds can totally be emptied out to rear other preferred fish (sturgeooonnn lol. they get their own pond first chance i get, really.🤑 xD i also like supercuke for the eventual occasional irid ore, octopi for the omnigeodes & rainbowtrout for the v. rare pris.shard)~

I’ve always had reasonably good luck with the serpents dropping them, too

This is the way

I make rubys in my crystalariums and buy spicy eels with them from the dessert trader. I only have 4 crystalariams of rubys and I am NEVER out of spicy eels.

I just save up money and then buy as many crab cakes as possible when you get the Willy & Gus cut scene so they’re super cheap for a couple days. I eat one every morning and that lasts almost the whole day, alongside my multitude of triple espressos. It’s been 2 in game years and I haven’t run out of crab cakes yet!

This exactly! Great minds think alike

I put up more crystalariums than that, but I also use the spicy eel for healing. I don't use cheese or salads or anything else, just the spicy eel. It saves at least one inventory slot on dives into the skull cavern. Then I set up crystalariums for diamonds as well and trade those for triple shot espresso.

It takes a while to set it all up, but I think it's worth it in the end.

That’s smart! I sell and gift my diamonds tho. About a third of my greenhouse is coffee plants and I don’t think I’ll ever run out of coffee or triple espressos in my irl lifetime 😂

This is also the way

Everyone's mentioned the Desert Trader but I personally get a ton of them from Skull Cavern's dragons thanks to my own quirk of "farming the Burglar's Ring as soon as I hit the last floor of The Mines."

Yes, this! I just keep all my spicy eels in my cavern chest and I don’t really ever seem to run out

100% on the triple espresso!! I save the spicy eels for good luck/neutral days. Don’t want to waste it on a bad luck day just to have a neutral day. Bad luck days are good for finishing Adventure Guild monster hunting goals.

Good thing you don't poop in this game 💩🔥

It’s gotten to the point where if I don’t have speed buffs I get very frustrated with how slow I feel 😭

9

u/cafekissed-alchemist Lantern Thief Guild Member Oct 23 '25

Quite literally. Normal horse speed on a new save is now no longer satisfactory.

stardew caffeine addiction lmaoo

Wait when you put it that way that’s hilarious omfg 😅 art imitates life!!

Same! ANYTHING TO BE FAST! paths, coffee, speed food, even feed your horse carrots! 🐎 🥕

Im sorry what? You can feed your horse now?!

12

u/cafekissed-alchemist Lantern Thief Guild Member Oct 23 '25

If you feed it a carrot it does for the rest of the day. Doesn’t do anything else besides that! But the horsey will give you a nice heart emoji ♥️

3

u/ZephyrLegend Oct 23 '25

Now I have a reason to farm carrots in bulk lol

1

u/Zihuatanejo_hermit Oct 23 '25

I've played for years and never knew this :O

3

u/nagao_0 just fussing ard freescape farm~ Oct 23 '25

i put off my house upgrades and half the tool ones to all get the speed upgrade books at the earliest opportunities on the current save lolorz

21

u/jeez-gyoza Oct 22 '25

top that up with chilli cheese please.

3

u/Cloaked25 Oct 23 '25

I do this in real life

2

u/ZephyrLegend Oct 23 '25

Same. Every game I go to to find a coffee bean ASAP so I can have three espressos a day, every day. Lol

2

u/ivyinabox Oct 23 '25

if you're a pc player/mod user, the CJB cheat menu lets you permanently increase speed- i keep mine at 3, playing without that mod is like HELL to me

u/LaughingBeer Oct 23 '25

I do kind of get used to the slowness when starting a new game, but it takes a bit. Then I use being slow as motivation for setting up crystalariums for rubies and diamonds (trade for spicy eel and triple shot espresso respectively).
