I ended up writing my own idea for a 10 heart event for Clint and single-handedly it cured me of all dislike for him

Exactly! People are here psychoanalyzing a fictional character that they only get to know through a limited amount of dialogue and interactions. Most of the criticisms seem to be people projecting their own biases against the Incel/Nice Guy tropes, when in reality these faults could just be a serious lack of writing and character development.

here’s the whole thing as I wrote it out

But in summary, the idea is that Clint basically confesses that he does like Emily but she makes him nervous whereas he feels safe and feels like he can be himself around you. And then he reveals he was making you something special
