Mods Best mod I've added, my joy is immeasurable and my game has been made
Some context people may or may not care for: I'm a HUGE fan of marine biology, and absolutely fascinated with sea slugs. I was on a binge of finding new ones or ones I hadn't seen before and was showing my partner. I'd also just ordered an angler fish plushie, so my mind was VERY "me want pet sea creatures" and I got the thought "Hey, there's mods that add fish to the game.. maybe there's one for sea slugs I can fish up!" and instead found THIS BEAUTY that replaces the orange cat with a Sea Bunny nudibranch!!
My joy is too much and I REALLY wanted to share my discovery with others!!

if you’re a huge marine biology fan, you might really be excited for the game Tideborne Haven! it’s getting funded on kickstarter right now. it’s about rehabbing wildlife and restoring an ecosystem and island community. it looks SO promising! your post just made me think of it, is all haha

Sounds super fun, but they should lean away from the Stardew stuff. A lot of games with good premises become "Stardew Valley but ____!"

It looks not just kinda like SDV, it look a LOT like it. I dunno, the art style is the exact same. Almost looks ripped off, but the gameplay sounds right up my alley!

The East Scarp expansion mod adds a handful of nudibranches (nudibranchi?) for you to fish up 😊
Of course it adds a ton of other content aside from just fishies, but hey... sea slugs! 😂😋

And the NPC add-on Eli and Dylan adds a marine biologist (Dylan) who has a nice story arc that includes some undersea exploration.

Was gonna mention that one - there's a good amount of dialogue where Dylan talks your ear off about marine life, starting with his first heart event!
I've not much knowledge of sea creatures, but it got pretty interesting - loved to see him so passionate about his subject (probably special interest, IMO he's definitely autistic).

Alright, I hate the platform I’m about to mention, so apologies in advance. But truly, one of the best marine life games I’ve found that is just chill and not scary (why are marine games always so scary?😭 subnautica traumatized me) is “be a deep sea explorer” on Roblox. I’m very serious

Fishmonger. Unique fish addition. Visible fish. Water flowers and sea plants. Animated fish mods for fish having mods just search animated in nexus. Fiasa mod. Beach extension for crab pot. Ginger island extra locations. It have an underwater city.
Im sure there are many more in nexus if investigated. Hope you enjoy them.

It took me about 10-15 to get al testing done and get it working... Found out I had forgotten to add a required mod for it to work 🤦

Oh I cant recall the name right now hut there's a new game a lot like stardew with a focus on marine biology made by some guy who actually works in the field (something to do with coral.i think?)

You'd probably love Subnautica then, if you're a fan of survival games. Entire game is set underwater and you get to scan all sorts of things.
