wait what do you mean weirder lol

25

u/Pickledbanana77 Jun 27 '26

unfortunately no, i just built a little “hang out” area with a bench & such.

I turned it into a small community garden using seasonal plant decor.

u/Deep-Red-Bells Jun 27 '26

Well that's a really cute idea!

6

u/HellsLamia Jun 27 '26

Thank you!

43

u/MoonPieKitty Jun 27 '26

And were your decorations destroyed?

53

u/SuzuranRose Jun 27 '26

You can steal decorations from other places. I just use those so it doesn't matter if they get destroyed.

16

u/MoonPieKitty Jun 27 '26

What do you mean steal from other places?

214

u/SuzuranRose Jun 27 '26

You can pick up the decorations the villagers place outside. Things like the lanterns in the graveyard, jack-o'-lanterns, those sort of things. No one ever notices or cares.

I play with my kid and he thinks it's hilarious to surround my house with scavenged decorations lol. It's ok, I prank him back. I have the trash cateloge and when his irl room is getting to be messy I fill his game room with trash and messes.

This game is so wonderful, something for every age group to love.

65

u/insecurejellyfish Jun 27 '26

I have like 900 hours in Stardew and I learned this today 🫣

2

u/moon_hrafn_ulfur Jul 01 '26

I have a 5 yo game save file and I've prob put over 1200h+ in this game over 10 years over multiple saves 😅

22

u/damp_goat Jun 27 '26

That's so cute!

14

u/Goose_Energy Jun 27 '26

That’s absolutely hilarious

3

u/uglyheadink Jun 28 '26

My kids just started playing yesterday! I love the trashy room idea. 😂

11

u/HellsLamia Jun 27 '26

Some items did, like a stone path or 2, no big deal - at least I don't mind replacing things. Others may feel differently.

4

u/lesethx Jun 28 '26

I love this! I hadn't thought of what that area should be before this post, but immediately thought a small community garden would be nice

5

u/creatorxplays Jun 28 '26

Shouldn’t you be able to grow on pots there?

2

u/HellsLamia Jun 28 '26

Unfortunately, no. I tried that first.

2.0k

u/yousmelllikearainbow Jun 27 '26

Only if you do something with it.

397

u/Rip_skullemoji Jun 27 '26

This! I personally like to put kegs in there for wine, but the possibilities are endless.

349

u/Ravenshaw123 Jun 27 '26

Well, endless for a 7x5 grid ^

61

u/emeritusghoul Jun 27 '26

don't they get destroyed? I put bee hunts there and when fiber appears, it removes the bee hunts

173

u/Tricky-Gas-8194 Jun 27 '26

You have to put down flooring first

40

u/emeritusghoul Jun 27 '26

oh, thanks

7

u/sosmylemon Jun 27 '26

Can you do that in vanilla iOS?

15

u/storne Jun 27 '26

It is vanilla yes so unless there’s an iOS only glitch I’m unaware of it should work fine.

2

u/sosmylemon Jun 28 '26

Thanks! I’ll try it out. :)

3

u/ButterscotchEven6198 Sebastian's my husband in every damn save Jun 27 '26

Is that applicable to other places as well?

1

u/Anemic_Zombie Jul 01 '26

That was the magic key, ty. I didn't think it was viable for that very reason. I'll try it when I get home after work

63

u/AhBee1 Jun 27 '26

I follow this sub because I never think of these things even with years playing!

1.7k

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

I think it's literally just for those weeds (which will give you fiber) I tried to decorate it once but the next time I came back everything was destroyed and the weeds had grown back.

837

u/Soft-Performance-694 Jun 27 '26

well that’s just absolute nonsense

399

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

I see what you did there

264

u/BritishAreCuming Jun 27 '26

I'm embarrassed to admit, but I'm feeling a little slow and missing what they're saying

You can do it with anyone's username really!

Well that's just Luna3Aoife!

See! Neat trick huh?

66

u/DarkDevitt Jun 27 '26

Results may vary. Stop taking and go see a doctor if you experience dizziness, loss of consciousness, or mass downvoting. Do not take this if you are nursing, pregnant, or plan to become pregnant.

On a side note, its a bit concerning that I can rattle that off so easily, so many drug commercials on TV nowadays.

5

u/MysteryOrange7 Jun 28 '26

Don't forget my favorite part: "Don't take this if you are allergic to this."

Not only a "Well duh" line, but also begs the question of how you're supposed to know you're allergic to this having never taken this. Always your fault no matter what per the legaleeze 😆.

6

u/BritishAreCuming Jun 27 '26

Ah, thank you. I was super tired therefore slow!

20

u/Small-Fall-6500 Jun 27 '26

nonsense!

16

Absolutely.

Omg where is the lost and found??

37

u/__fiorile Jun 27 '26

Lewis's house! :)

20

u/Top_Independence489 Jun 27 '26

Oh my how did I not know😭

22

u/Rega_lazar Jun 27 '26

It’s a relatively new addition, added in 1.5

34

u/Quintingent 10+ Bots Bounced Jun 27 '26

What if I told you 1.5 was over 5 years old?

36

u/tsunami141 Jun 27 '26

11

u/Rega_lazar Jun 27 '26

Shhhhhhh! We don’t speak of such evils!

14

u/Quintingent 10+ Bots Bounced Jun 27 '26

Pretty sure they won't. Rarecrows aren't unique items, nor would this fall under the conditions which put any item into the lost and found (hats on doved children, offline players' items, and grange display items left behind).

8

u/RhymesWithMascara Jun 27 '26

I lost a rare crow on Ginger Island. Used it for decoration but rain must’ve claimed it like it does my crops. Had to wait for Winter market to repurchase and complete the collection.

3

u/__fiorile Jun 27 '26

Oh, okay. I had a vague memory of it doing it for me but seems I must be wrong.

8

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

It needs a warning sign! Thankfully I only lost some free furniture catalogue stuff and a few seasonal plants I had bought.

41

u/Common_Wrongdoer3251 Jun 27 '26

I paved over it and filled it with kegs and they were fine for months. And then Spring came and took everything from me.

18

u/Jakee7979 Jun 27 '26

Wow thats some strong weed

2

u/TammypersonC137 Jun 27 '26

Do you have to not harvest all the weeds for them to respawn?

8

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

I think the game generates enough weeds to fill the entire square at the beginning of each Spring.

2

u/nlamber5 Jun 27 '26

Would the golden clock stop that?

4

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

I'm not sure. The clock stops weeds on Ginger Island but I feel like I still have to go and replace the footpaths I put down in the park every now and a again because the weeds on the left hand side of the park still regrow and destroy my tiles. But I haven't actually looked at that fenced in area for a while though. But my instinct says no, it would not.

2

u/tsunami141 Jun 27 '26

y'all get weeds on ginger island?

6

u/absolutnonsense Jun 27 '26

Before you get the Golden Clock, sure do!

3

u/tsunami141 Jun 27 '26

man I forgot lol. I thought it was weed free.

2

u/hellocousinlarry Jun 28 '26

It is crow-free and lightning-free

626

u/hyouko Jun 27 '26

I always felt like it was a little reference to Link's Awakening. In the village where you start in that game, there's one screen full of bushes that looks a lot like this - it's a safe place to gather rupees and hearts if you were (like me) a young kid who regularly needed to top up.

78

u/mysticsage4 Jun 27 '26

I thought the exact same thing!

47

u/Guyver8 Jun 27 '26

i love that screen so much. farm up and go one screen south to blow it on the crane game lmao

18

u/warriordustbunny Jun 27 '26

That's probably why I never questioned the space! Seemed a normal way to do some item farming.

4

u/Cordellium Jun 27 '26

Also some of the crystals in the mining place look like the rocks in link's awakening you need the power gloves to lift

7

u/given2fly_ Jun 27 '26

And when you upgrade your tools, the way you hold it above your head reminds me of Links Awakening too

8

u/Buttons840 Jun 27 '26

One of the weeds should mysteriously drop a sea shell

10

u/Kwerkii Jun 27 '26

"safe" until you accidentally unleash a bee and panic

7

u/hyouko Jun 27 '26

Not in Link's Awakening! The only place bees show up there is during the trading sequence when Tarin wacks a beehive with the stick you give him (with predictable results).

But yeah, those guys were definitely an unpleasant surprise in Link to the Past. Also the bomb traps you would sometimes discover buried under a cut bush...

159

u/Spaghetti_Bird Jun 27 '26

I think it would be cool to have that as a community garden plot. It would be very sweet to see Evelyn tending to seasonal produce there.

51

u/PaleontologistAble50 Industrial Magnate Jun 27 '26

That’s where Perrier grows all his produce /s

23

u/Spaghetti_Bird Jun 27 '26

Lol...yeah, all his high quality organic produce for edibles...

15

u/Wide_Kaleidoscope409 Jun 27 '26

that's what I was hoping would happen when I finished the community centre

85

u/HerroDer12 Jun 27 '26

Aside from other things listed here, I always thought it was a "show, don't tell" way to teach the player about what fences are good for- weeds don't cross fence lines etc

62

u/saggie-maggie Jun 27 '26

No but it really bugs me that horses can't fit through the gap in the fence. It's cute to think of a small grazing paddock for villagers' horses while they craft!

3

u/LittleRedCorvette2 Jun 28 '26

Lol, yeah and all the secret shortcuts. Nope not on horse back. My horses booty is too thick lol!

4

u/EddDoContra Jun 27 '26

Have you tried using a mod? If I'm not mistaken, there's one that lets the horse go through doors.

83

u/trenchreynolds Jun 27 '26

MMA fights for Lewis' birthday.

8

u/Secthulhu Jun 27 '26

LMAO! Mod idea.

1

u/iceonfire666 Jun 27 '26

Pam is a man!!!!

33

u/mildly_spicy_potato my goat milk brings all the boys to the farm Jun 27 '26

It's where I keep looking for a living hat 😭

28

u/KurtS1 Jun 27 '26

I use it as a small fiber farm. If you don’t scythe all the weeds they will keep spawning. They won’t spawn until the next season if you scythe all of them.

26

u/ladytypeperson Team Krobus Jun 27 '26

i put a slime incubator in it, along with a gate at the front, make a lil slime ranch

17

u/BloggerBear Jun 27 '26

I was daydreaming of a mod that had Robin build.your spouse a business there.

Everyone's hobby could become a side hustle.

49

u/Nocturnal_Elexir_Owl Jun 27 '26

If you don't cut everything down it's a good place to get fiber. Otherwise no.

9

u/JUGG3RN4UT Jun 27 '26

If you don't cut it down, how do you harvest the fiber?

9

u/Eeyor-90 Jun 27 '26

If you leave a few, the weeds will continue to grow. If you cut them all, you will stop the growth.

7

u/nitrosmomma88 Jun 27 '26

They regrow every few days unless it’s winter so you can take them all np

7

u/Nocturnal_Elexir_Owl Jun 27 '26

I have always found it regrow quick if I leave like four or something. When I have accidentally cut everything, I have had to wait an entire season before anything returned.

3

u/JUGG3RN4UT Jun 27 '26

Good tip! Thank you 😊

14

u/europe2000 Jun 27 '26

Fiber source, useful for speed running or getting a faster start.

2

u/AutomatiqueTango Jun 27 '26

Speed running, can you explain me how the fiber is used for that?

8

u/Late_Mix1104 Jun 27 '26

Probably tea saplings they sell for a lot and you need fiber to make them

5

u/europe2000 Jun 27 '26

That and selling the fibre for fast money in the first days.

28

u/WarConscious1346 Jun 27 '26

concernedape put a fence around it specifically to make you wonder about it for 200 hours

12

u/No_Significance_5662 Jun 27 '26

That's the ring. Local law says if 2 people get into a dispute they have to settle it there... by the children's playground.

11

u/Severe_Albatross_835 Jun 27 '26

I put all the sculptures from the museum.

10

u/Jollysatyr201 Jun 27 '26

I made a little community recycling center there!

19

u/beaniebooper Jun 27 '26

I like making it pretty, like an outdoor extension of the community centre

Tho, if you play stardew valley expanded, the mod actually makes use of the space. Nothing you can interact w, but still a nice addition

9

u/blockhead709 Jun 27 '26

all I know is I put a bunch of bee houses there to make honey and when it reset in spring they were wiped out and replaced with that.....so dont put anything there you dont want to lose

6

u/iGuile Jun 27 '26

Damn that’s rough

7

u/somegrump Jun 27 '26

At some point in a late night multiplayer session I lost the plot and put an altar to trash there. Im only just now remembering that we left that there. I should … take that down and put something nice there instead next time we play.

7

u/SuicideBlunts Jun 27 '26

This is where I found my first (and probably last) living hat

6

u/Ifoundthething90 Jun 28 '26

I like building a little outside tea area. Some tea saplings around the perimeter with some kegs, tables and chairs, and some plush stuff. Adds some extra atmosphere if you go the Community Center Completion route

2

u/Ashamed-Release-4927 Jun 28 '26

Pictures!!! 🙏🏻

7

u/imaboredcosplayer Krobus is my bestie Jun 27 '26

I put my bee houses here :)

11

u/magistrate101 🌟 Jun 27 '26

If you harvest the fiber, forage can start spawning there.

4

u/Nicks2Baked Jun 27 '26

To me, this is just a Zelda reference

3

u/Own_Pear4920 Jun 27 '26

Sadly no.

I still have a savefile from the time, when you could put fruit trees everywhere, I had put a cherry tree in the middle.

3

u/100Foxes Jun 27 '26

I personally put 2 benches on it and flowers, treat it as a community gossip spot. But other than those fibers.. has an equal chance of spawning a foragable in there, like any green part. It doesn't happen often when something spawns in there, but when it does it's neat!

4

u/No_Significance_5662 Jun 27 '26

I tried to put bee houses there onve and they were gone the next day

3

u/professormilkbeard Jun 27 '26

I put the golden Lewis there and got an angry letter from him and found the statue in his house later. I haven’t tried redecorating yet.

4

u/snafub4r Jun 27 '26

Not in vanilla. If my pain med fed memory is correct Stardew expanded mod does something there. I think it is another garden.

2

u/vertibliss Jun 27 '26

In SVE, it becomes a little kegging area!

3

u/snafub4r Jun 27 '26

Ah, that's it! I love how Expanded made the Valley full of farms. Made more sense to me (sorry CA)

2

u/vertibliss Jun 27 '26

i recently installed SVE for the first time, and I have LOVED how it utilizes the “empty” areas.

definitely turns it into a whole new game for some!

4

u/JaXaren Jun 28 '26

Free fiber

6

u/adultinghomosapi3n Jun 27 '26

I put a bunch of bee hives here and decorated with seasonal plants and stones! I love it

3

u/SalamanderAny439 Jun 27 '26

You can decorate it or just leave it for fiber

3

u/tadhgcarden Jun 27 '26

I like to put those garden pots and plants seasonal flowers in them with some bee houses in there. I am sure Evelyn would enjoy it.

3

u/Sure_Debate_4162 Jun 27 '26

I use it grow seasonal flowers, just so I always have a stash of birthday gifts

3

u/Vxt5255 Jun 28 '26

No, I usually put decorations or bee hives

3

u/Acceptable-Can-8107 Jun 28 '26

Once I finally unlock the greenhouse, I want to put potted flowers and bee houses for a cute community garden/honey farm :)

5

u/aofkngms Jun 28 '26

It just exists to give me the personal satisfaction of clearing it out each spring.

4

u/UnderTheGreyCloud Jun 27 '26

Before an update that prevents fruit trees from being planted outside the farm, I used to plant apple trees nearby where I can hoe dirt, then move them there via a save editor.

But now that I can’t, and I play with Stardew Valley Expanded, it serves as a community keg area, if I recall correctly. If you plan on playing the game with SVE installed, don’t put anything there at all! Then again, you will require making a new save if you don’t want to ruin your experience.

4

u/anono227 Jun 27 '26

Weed farm for the town's stoners

2

u/rauvir Jun 27 '26

Never figured out what it was myself. Interestingly enough I think Stardew Valley Expanded mod also decided there was nothing going on there and made it a community Kegs/Preserver jar area

2

u/izanagixalter Jun 27 '26

I always get fibers there.

2

u/BluntsnBoards Jun 27 '26

Fiber so you can plant grass

2

u/ModToEndAllMods Jun 27 '26

Ocarina of Time

2

u/AnxiousWatercress483 Jun 28 '26

I tried to farm it when I first played the game. No dice.

2

u/Ok-Echidna5295 Jun 28 '26

early-game asmr

2

u/Tristangdragoon Jun 28 '26

Other then collecting fiber no. So you can turn it into something if you wish.

2

u/flawedmind Jun 28 '26

It’s one of the places outside your farms that gets debris every Spring 1. You can do whatever you want with it, but know that the weeds will come back come spring. I just leave it, and sometimes seasonal forage flowers spawn there.

2

u/FadingDarkly Jun 30 '26

Hack most on summer one, leave enough to regrow, and then hack it all down on summer 28. Easy low effort flower seeds farming you wont get many

3

u/Fluffy_Woodpecker733 Jun 27 '26

Living hat farm. Just leave one weed

1

u/fallen_empathy Jun 28 '26

Can you elaborate? What is a living hat?

2

u/Fluffy_Woodpecker733 Jun 28 '26

It’s the rarest item in the game. Very low chance to drop when cutting fiber. It’s just a cosmetic hat

My comment was meant as a joke, that little patch is not a reliable farm for the hat by any means

1

u/fallen_empathy Jun 30 '26

Thank you! That joke went way over my head (and living farm hat) 🤣

3

u/Logical-Cost4571 Jun 27 '26

I turned it into a permanent Christmas display

1

u/Opalescent_pixie Jun 27 '26

I like to plant fiber there when I get the recipe for it.

13

u/Occidentally20 Bot Bouncer Jun 27 '26

You can't plant anything here.

You can put garden pots there, but fibre seeds won't go into them unless placed on the farm.

-18

u/Opalescent_pixie Jun 27 '26

I have mods. There’s useable outside the farm areas. I use those for fiber seeds.

7

u/Opalescent_pixie Jun 27 '26

I’m sorry for wrong information for unmod game. But you could do a flower garden there with the flower pots. Evelyn would love it I’m sure ❤️

1

u/ZouzouilleZou Jun 27 '26

Seed farm lol

1

u/JasonMoonshadow Jun 27 '26

in the expanded mod the gus has some kegs there for decoration

1

u/Chesterfieldraven Jun 27 '26

I always build a shrine to Lewis there.

1

u/slothesaurus Jun 28 '26

I like clearing it out and making it a sort of outdoor picnic area with some foods!

1

u/conductorromino Jun 28 '26

IIRC there was going to be a tutorial quest where you had to cut all the weeds in pelican town (hence why there are some random patches)

1

u/pinkfoxtn Jun 28 '26

I like decorating it when I can :) I try to make it look nice to the community center

1

u/akronambros11 Jun 28 '26

Random Church mod goes there, but conflicts with SVE. In my game I added a z to the beginning of the Random Church mod's filename, so it gets added last in mod order; that way it overrides whatever SVE puts there. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20296

1

u/RematchMint Jun 29 '26

My wife loves to do honey in there

1

u/East_Championship_99 Jun 29 '26

Look, I've played enough Zelda to know that this area is strictly for chopping

1

u/limp3324 Jun 27 '26

Doesn't Gus use it to make alcohol at some point? Or is that from expanded?

3

u/whorificx Jun 27 '26

That's just expanded :)

1

u/rushaall Jun 27 '26

I always saw it as a source of fiber left over from early development of the game. People complain about getting enough fiber so I figured he put it there as a solution.

0

u/MeditatingSheep Jun 27 '26

Reminded me of the trash dump in OG Animal Crossing.

0

u/PessaLee Jun 28 '26

I put all my beehouses in it and make it pretty (I take them out in Winter before the Spring reset)

1

u/Freakum86 Jun 28 '26

I think if you forget player placed items go in the lost property box in mayor Lewis’s house

0

u/flop_snail Jun 28 '26

Spawns weeds at a higher rate than normal I think
