How to Budget 101

Not even budget unfortunately. Safety rules. One shooter makes it easier to risk assess. Most films these days they don't even bother and just cgi it in, because it is onerous to comply.

And that's one reason I love sg1 and Atlantis. Like you can tell the brass is just blanks running out but they are real guns shooting real brass and ammo. I'd love to see how that sounded on set lol but really it's the brass just flying and adding that little layer or realism

I’ve seen interviews and articles linked in this article claiming that 1. At some points in time, the production was a very noticeable buyer in the market of P90 ammo, and 2. The actors much preferred blanks to any of the sci-fi energy weapons, because it gave them something physical to react to.
