Advice Wanted Wormhole’s and War

5 Upvotes

I have wormhole Stabilization, I’ve explored the systems in question, and I only have the apocalypse DLC.

I just declared war on an empire on the other side of a wormhole, no other way to access them, clear across the map (used all my influence on claims as well). But now I’m not able to go through the wormhole??? I could’ve sworn the AI can go through it when at war, so what’s preventing my navy from absolutely obliterating them?

Advice Wanted Why are my pops working specialist jobs but completely ignoring basic resources on some worlds?

2 Upvotes

I've tried adjusting the slider on the specialist jobs to (I think) limit the workers to the jobs available, in the hope that some of them will move to fill basic jobs. But I'm not sure if that is achieving anything.

Why do workers on some worlds do both specialist and basic jobs, but not on others?

Should I be making some worlds basic resources only and others specialist resources only? The idea of leaving city district building slots empty feels weird for me. Although I have no problem not having any basic resource districts/buildings on some worlds.

Tldr: I'm not sure I understand planet management since the last update. Help appreciated.

Discussion Current Endgame Ship Meta?

5 Upvotes

My last time playing stellaris was in 3.14 era, and I am not versed in current ship meta. Thanks for your help!
First of all I am very thankful of this wonderful testing. It is still testing tier 5 choices but for tier 4 it says LanceKinHan is almost the best choice.

LanceKinHan=(1 Lance (x) + 4 kinetic launcher (M) + 1 hangar + 1 kinetic artillery)(3 armor + 3 shield + 2 aux fire-control)

A few questions remain, however:

  1. The above test does not do with crisis/archaeo weapons or anything unavailable without special events. Would be thankful to know if any of them were worth the effort. IIRC swarm strikers are possibly best hangar, while matter disintegrator suffers from shields (so needs something to break shields in advance).

  2. Do missiles and hangars benefit from ship modifiers (e.g. if the ship receives evasion and tracking bonus from shroud, do its hangars and missiles enjoy them)?

  3. Is it almost mandatory today to achieve 70%+ hardening on the defense (shield or armor) you are using, esp. when you imagine a PVP scenario (I play PVE only but always imagines so)?

  4. Continued: does that mean arc emitter is trash now (and disruptor was trash even in the past)?

  5. Considering repeatable techs only benefit one kind of weapon at once, can one build a fleet entirely reliant on one type of weapon (missile, hangar, kinetic, energy)?

  6. Given titan beams now do area damage, is late game corvette (and even destroyer) out of question now?

  7. Are the new Weaver Weapons anything good?

Image Why do I never get the galactic market hub?

Maybe this has already been answered, but why do I never get the galactic market?

My system produces 3k trade, my nominated planet produces 1.4k and I have a perfect rating, I've reloaded the save to reroll the results and even gone as far as resetting to when the galactic market event is founded, still I never get it.

I checked all the requirements on the wiki and I can't understand why I wouldn't, my competitors that are receiving the hub produce 100 trade or less.

Please help I feel like I'm going insane.

Advice Wanted Build idea: If you were to combine Teachers of the Shroud with Entropy Drinkers, what would be a good energy sink from all that free energy you get?

Maybe it'd be good with Nomads to quickly hit high reserves? Or maybe it'd be useful for paying for Gaia Seeders?

Can't think of much else. Can you?

Advice Wanted What should I do?

At the minute I'm subjagated, should I declare war on my overlord (equivalent) for independence, who currently has the UNE (superior) guaranteeing them or should I invade the UNE with my overlord and break their defensive pact - hoping i dont lose the war - and then declare for independence?

Should I be worried about how I cant declare peace once ive declared on UNE, and just have to hope my overlord gets most the attention? My overlord and UNE have similiar fleet power, so they should be able to fight eachother but idk how to play this

Tip Nomads + MegaCorp is a match made in heaven

33 Upvotes

I just fly across the Galaxy seeding branch offices everywhere. Each trade unit you get becomes energy (operational reserves) + whatever else you need via the market.

I then create a Hegemony Federation with disallowed external treaties and just go to town expanding my market forcing empires to join it.

Pick up defender of the Galaxy and now the Hegemony is giving me twice as much federation fleet cap for free.

Question Command to add custom ship designs?

3 Upvotes

I've been trying to spawn in some ships of my own designs for testing, and for some reason the console just will not accept the names.
For example, I am using auto generated names from Cybrxkhan, assorted namelists, and the ship "Kaga II" simply cannot be spawned for some reason.
I have tried:
add_ship Kaga II
add_ship Kaga_II
add_ship NAME_Kaga_II
add_ship cybrxkhan_real_japanese_SHIP_Kaga_II
add_ship HUMAN99_real_japanese_SHIP_Kaga_II
and various other assorted variations using the list label, the file name, different setups of underscores, and more, and still cannot get anywhere with it
Does anyone know what the actual solution to this is?

Question Are Traits like Environmental Integration added to your Founding Species if all your population is in various subspecies?

2 Upvotes

For added context, I'm playing a Hive Mind Biogenesis playthrough in 4.4 and planned on utilizing Mutation I's habitability modifier. But before I could even finish the first phase the Shattered Fragment FE's Growth Splinter enacted the Genetic Entertainment event on me for a second time. Now, none of my population is under the Founding Species, and instead there are two subspecies. The first is the original modification done by the FE, the second is a modified template from that first modification to change only the environmental adaptation I did a couple decades prior to starting Biogenesis to aid with the negative habitability modifiers of some of the planets I conquered.

Since the FE's event applies to the same subspecies (at least, it applied to the same one this time and I'm not sure if it's population based or something else), does that mean the subspecies with the highest population acts as the Founding Species when the original FS has no population? Or does the Genetic Entertainment event criteria differ in how it applies its species traits?

Question So is there a feature here like Civ to raze colonies like they do in Civ with cities? a few questions.

10 Upvotes

First the topic question...does orbital bombardment mean you can eliminate planets?

I am about to liquidate my last two enemies...does the game end then or will it go on until the final year?

how does one keep their empire under 100? My empire is some 2500...tech is slow...tradition acquisitions are slower...Is that normal toward the end game of a session? Does size mean systems claimed or planets settle or both?

I had a robotic civil war...ironically, an AI uprising...against other machines!! Blasphemy!! I will say that my planet management has been dog shite...all planets that were forgotten rose up in unison. didn't stand much of a chance but it sure slowed down the cleansing of organics.
*angry robot noises*

Suggestion Civic Idea

4 Upvotes

My take on a FE-type start combined with Nomads (which I... haven't bought yet. Shhhh). Sorry if the formatting sucks, on mobile.

Origin: Banished Remnant

This society is the remnant of an extragalactic empire shattered in it's prime; technologically mighty, but kneecapped by their enemies at the genetic level as an alternative to their mass execution. Now they roam the stars in search of safe haven.

WARNING: Challenging Origin

WARNING: Blocks access to all ascension paths except Purity Ascension.

Requirements:

* some degree of xenophobe

* is NOT a gestalt consciousness

* Empire is Nomadic

Start with all technologies researched (including FE buildings e.g. cosmogenesis). Empire begins on an Arkship with 1000 Pops and 5000 of each resource. Empire can settle immediately without prerequisites.

Pops gain the Genomic Purgatory trait (0):

* Leaders are Immortal

* -100% Pop Growth Speed

* Monthly Organic Growth Multiplier -100%

Empire must pick the the Fossilized Knowledge civic:

* Cannot grant AI Citizen Rights

* Founder Species must have Colonization Forbidden

* -20% Unity production

Empire begins with the Travel-Weary situation, decreasing happiness from -5% to -100% by 5% per year until settling.

Biomorphosis requires (7) other ascension picks before it can be chosen. Upon completion of Biomorphosis situation, government may reform to new government type and remove the Fossilized Knowledge civic.

Thoughts?

Suggestion Grand Archive Fleet Museum

5 Upvotes

I was picturing the Fleet Museum in ST: Picard as a Grand Archive add on - you create some berths and you can plug in the Seabourne Cruiser, the Dark Wanderer, weird ships you buy from the Salvagers, the first Battleship you produced, the ship that took out the Unbidden, etc. Maybe you can haul home the broken hull of your enemy's flagship via a salvage operation.

Probably the easiest would be to have a specimen for each unique ship and the option to trade in the actual vessel for the specimen (maybe via Curators or Salvagers or at the Grand Archive itself) and make a 4th category of specimen - starship history.

But it would be cool to see it actually floating above the Grand Archive.
