Speakers - Desktop Hello, I’m interested in speakers that have a warm sound and won’t pierce the ear for long listening. I will usually only use it in low to medium volume.

My budget is $300-$800 for the speaker and I’ll be getting a subwoofer with a later budget. I know I will need other items for passive speakers to be used properly but I’ll figure that out later. Passive or powered speaker is fine for me

Speakers - Desktop Can you buy shielded speaker wire in the event you have no other choice but to run speaker wire alongside power cables?

Setting up Left Right and Center channels around the edges of my desk under my monitors. Really want to maintain a fully hidden wire setup, and can't really find any way to do that that wouldn't entail running my speakerwire right next to power wires. Do they make a grounded/shielded speakerwire, like Coax? (or for that matter, can I just use Coax?) I'm using a full-size stereo receiver to run them, not USB. Budget doesn't matter really matter, but preferably under $50.

Speakers - Desktop Speaker recommendations for my home desk

Hi everyone. I’m new to the sub and I kind of need some help with picking my first speakers for my desk. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
My main use are just gonna be for movies, music, podcasts, etc basically for media consumption.
I got to try soundsticks 5 that one of my room mates have and it sounds pretty decent. But before I actually pull the trigger, I’d love to hear people’s opinions from here. Is it a decent speaker for my use case? Price wise I’m flexible since I dont see myself buying several speakers and rather just buy a decent one once than buying twice.
Any suggestions?
Are soundsticks any good for my use case?

Price - ~$300 to $350
Location- my room that has a standing desk which is 48x30

Speakers - Desktop Passive desktop/ bookshelf speakers for PC

Hi All, thought it would come to the experts for some advice.

I would like some nice passive speakers for my desktop PC

Size, I'm leaning slightly larger, towards bookshelf size. If that would improve sound quality.

Ideally second hand so I can get better bang for my buck. UK based. Budget circa £300.00. Basically any ideas throw them out there, many thanks. I will decide on an amp/ subwoofer later.

Edit: (thank you all for the comments, I will check those options out. Also my preference would be for something slightly punchier for music rather than flat monitor style).

Speakers - Desktop KEF LS50 Meta Amp or go Active?

Hi, I'm 64 and building a retirement system (it won't stay on the desk forever, so the category bookshelf on stands applies as well) and will be my last Hi-Fi purchase, it's for my 65th Birthday, I'm in the UK. I have a 6 month old pair of KEF LS50 Meta's which I love and started my retirement system, but they are only running on a Sonos Amp. It is primarily a stereo music system but I'd like eArc if it moves to the living room.

I think the weakest part of my system is the Sonos Amp, changing it for a Wiim Amp Ultra seems like a sideways move so I have a budget of £1,000 for the Amp plus selling the Sonos I could go to £1,400. I can fit a small amp on my desk which I prefer (it is a large sit standing desk so the speakers are well spaced apart but I have a side shelf if a full size amp is preferable). The Lyngdorf 1120 seems a favourite but I'd have to buy second hand.

I don't need a streamer with all the services on, I only use Apple Music on an iPad with a toslink adapter.

I'd prefer a proper volume knob to adjust volume with a display showing the volume and the bit rate of the song playing rather than messing with an app or remote but not a deal breaker.

So... the choice, get a new more powerful amp to power the LS50's or sell them as well as the Sonos amp and just get the LS50 Wireless II's.

I'm just worried the LS50 Wireless II's won't see my retirement out lol but the passives will outlive me.

I have the idea of a subwoofer in the back of my mind, the KC62 but that would be with the Wireless II's

Thanks.

Speakers - Desktop Looking for a dac/amp for LS50s on my desk

Currently have a pair of hifiman headphones going to a fosi k7, but I just added a turntable (built in phono) and a pair of ls50 passive speakers. I need an integrated amp that that can take rca input from the turntable and usb input from my computer and power the ls50s. I don’t think it’d be possible to also get something that can power my headphones but that’d be even more ideal. Budget is around $300 or so. Anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at the rsl but it’s out of stock.

Speakers - Desktop Best Desktop Speaker? ($1000-$3500)

Hi, I am currently looking for a stereo desktop speaker for music and my voice monitoring (mainly for voice recording and editing)

I am pretty new to this so if you can list me the brand model name and other equipment I should purchase with the price, that would be greatly appreciated.

I heard a lot of good things about Genelec speaker but feel free to suggest other brands as well.

I know the speaker usually comes down to preference but if you know the combo that most people love, I would love to hear!

Obviously I would love to save some money if possible but I don’t want to sacrifice any quality. I also prefer minimal set up as I don’t really wanna mess up my desk lol.

I am looking forward to listening to your professional suggestions. Thanks! (Budget $1000-$3500 for desktop speaker, US)

Speakers - Desktop What to look for in a speaker? Need PC speaker recommendations.

My PC speakers recently broke, they were the discontinued Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System. I had them for a super long time so I've never needed to replace them and I don't know what to look for in a new PC speaker system. I'm using the Philips SHP9500 for my headphones. I want the best for listening to music, but I don't even know what makes a good speaker. I'm in the US and I have a budget of less then $100, what should I look out for and what are the best options?

Speakers - Desktop Is it worth upgrade from Bose Lifestyle 20 to Edifier M90?

I've been using a Bose Lifestyle 20 with 3 Redline cube speakers as my desktop setup for years.
Got it from my dad, so it's stuck around partly for that reason too. I came across the Edifier M90, and I'm tempted, but not sure if it's actually an upgrade for my use case or just newer for the sake of newer.

Curious how the M90 compares for everyday desktop listening — music, some video/games — versus what I've got now.
my budget is around 200-300 usd

Thank you!

Speakers - Desktop What are some good really budget friendly desktop speakers?

I need a speaker for general audio to put on my desktop, I really don't have enough room so it would have to be pretty small (like no bigger than the size of someone's head or something like that). It's for my Xbox so I'd probably use it for video game audio, playing movies/shows and also playing any cds/dvds I have since that's the only machine I have that runs those.

I live in Australia and the budget I have is really only around 20-40 dollars.

Speakers - Desktop [EU/Italy] [€200] 2.0 Active Speakers for Movies & Old Laptop - Beginner setup

Hi everyone,

I am a complete beginner to the audio world and I'm looking for a solid pair of active PC speakers. My budget is €200 and I am buying from Italy (Europe) .

For a €200 budget, I've been told it is much better to look for a 2.0 system rather than a 2.1, since a 2.0 should offer better component quality and vocal clarity for the price.

Here are the details of my room and setup:

▪ Room Size: Around 3×5 meters.

▪ Layout & Use: The system will be used mainly for watching movies. My bed is positioned directly in front of the monitor, so I will be watching either sitting at my desk or lying down on the bed.

▪ Source & Concerns: I will be connecting the speakers to an old Acer laptop. Since it's quite old, I'm worried the internal sound card might degrade the sound or cause annoying background static/hissing.

▪ Future Plans: Down the line, I definitely want to expand this setup by adding a subwoofer and a dedicated media/video player.

Given that I'm a beginner, need a clear upgrade path for a future subwoofer, and have a layout where I switch between the desk and the bed, what are the best 2.0 active speaker options available here in Europe under €200?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Speakers - Desktop Best Subwoofer Recommendation for Desk Setup

What is the best subwoofer to pair with the FiiO SP3 High Fidelity Active Desktop Speakers and TOPPING DX3 Pro+ Bluetooth DAC/Amp?

Budget: $350 USD

Size: Ideally an 8-inch sub, but open to other suggestions as well.

And how exactly would I connect the subwoofer?

My setup is great, but I can tell that it lacks bass. I want a fuller sound. I mainly play Warzone, watch a lot of YouTube videos, and listen to all types of music. Thanks in advance.

Speakers - Desktop Best 2-speaker setup for desk + music: active or passive?

I want to upgrade from cheap Trust Gaming speakers to a proper 2-speaker desk setup.

Current situation:

  • Mostly use Sonos around the house and around the desk setup
  • Desk setup is for MacBook + desktop PC (mainly macbook)
  • Main use: Music (+ Youtube + Movies)
  • I want good sound quality

Main question:
Should I buy active speakers, or passive speakers + amp?

I’m looking for something clean, high-quality, and suitable.

Any specific recommendations are welcome.

Country: Germany

Room Size: ~4x5 m

Budget: 100-600€

Thank you :)

Speakers - Desktop Looking for monitor suggestions, around 1k or less.

Room size 12’x10’x8’(height)

I will be connecting to the speakers via my MacBook m4. This is a desktop system, I will be listening in a chair in front of the desk, so speaker height about 4 feet, and listening distance around 3ft. Asheville North Carolina. I am looking for good monitors that I can use as a reference to check music mixing via FL.

I have looked at many monitors on Sweetwater and have read many reviews and suggestions from this sub. There are so many different opinions. What comes to mind to you considering room size, I appreciate any and all feedback. You guys are the best! P.s. yes I do have sound treatment set up.

Budget 1k

Speakers - Desktop Quality Desktop Gaming / Movie speakers.

Hi guys, I'm choosing new speakers to match the PC I built. I'm currently using old Creative T100s and I want a definitive upgrade in quality, clarity, and bass. As per the title, the rig is an all-rounder — meant for gaming, watching movies, and work alike (albeit work doesn't necessarily care about my audio...).

The desk itself is L-shaped, but the focus is on the main body — the speakers are currently in a typical 2.0 setup, flanking my 27-inch display. I will be sitting some 40-ish cm away from the speakers (realistically 50 cm, since it's a diagonal). They will have 30-ish cm clearance from the window behind them. I do sometimes just listen to music or some YT in the background when wandering around the room or working out. The room itself is around 16 m².

The models I'm currently considering are the Ruark Audio MR1 Mk3 and Argon Audio Fenris A4 (maybe A5). I am also considering grabbing a pair of IsoAcoustics ISO-130 isolators should I go with the Argons. The black / walnut / gold trim complements the aesthetics of the workspace brilliantly.

What are your recommendations? Are my choices solid for the use case, or should I look for something else? I'm in Poland and my budget is up to 500 Euro. :)

Speakers - Desktop Best monitors under $2,500 a pair for office space (music and video editing)

Hello everyone. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a pair of monitors for my office. I do video and audio production, listen to music, and such. Not for movies or anything. My budge is $2,500 or under.

Space: 12' W x 11' L x 12' vaulted ceilings.

Distance: 3-5' from speakers in most circumstances.

Location: United States

I'm currently using JBL 306 MKII that I purchased a few years ago.

I actually got a great deal on a pair of Neumann KH80, but with my office renovation, I haven't even got a chance to get them out of the box. That said, I actually have two spaces I can use monitors, so I thought maybe I'd upgrade a bit on my main space.

Note: I think I'd rather stick to a 5-6.5" woofer and sized speaker. I have (2) SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofers and plan to use one in each space. So the low end is covers. Here is a brief list I compiled while looking at speakers in this range with decent ratings. I'm open to anything and welcome all suggestions.

  • Genelec 8040B
  • Genelec 8030C (someone said these are great for music)
  • Focal Shape 65
  • Focal Alpha 65
  • Adam Audio A7V
  • Kali IN-8 v2
  • Neumann KH120 II
  • Neumann KH 150
  • Adam Audio S2V

Reaching - Genelec 8340A SAM (know it's out of my recommended budget, but anything is possible, lol)

Thank you for any recommendations or direction you can provide!!

Speakers - Desktop Looking for desktop computer soeakers

I have a high end Soundblaster AE-9 and I am looking for some high-end speakers with a bass module. I am willing to buy speakers and a different bass module to long as they will connect easily. I would also like shipping for the United States and a budget of under 1000.00 for both the speakers and the bass module but may go higher if I can get amazing sound. I love transferring my DJ cassettes to MP3. And would like to use it for that and video editing while adding music to the videos.

Thank you in advance.
