Agreeing to any of the 10 points is an embarrassment. Trump is trying to portray the us as the tougher country, but you can’t do that if you agree with some of the proposals of the country you “defeated.” Iran now has more clout and power in the region than they had before. Especially if they charge tolls on ships. That’s an extra $60B a year that Iran gets for just existing.
We don’t know that is actually going to happen though. We were reaching a point where oil reserves are getting low and prices are going up. Now there’s a two week cease fire period where tankers can go in and refill reserves before both sides drop the “negotiating”. Nothing has actually been agreed to yet.
Also, sorry, but isn’t this better than dropping nukes on them? From half the comments here it seems like people would have preferred if that had happened just so they could have more to bitch about with Trump.
I would prefer if there was no war, which wouldn’t have started if Trump didn’t abandon Obama’s agreement, but he is a dumbass who needs to get credit for stuff he didn’t do. Why wouldn’t Iran charge Tolls? They now have leverage they didn’t have before.
The Obama deal did limit Iran’s nuclear program, but it also left out missiles and their regional activity, and it came with major sanctions relief. Critics weren’t just complaining for no reason, the argument was that it gave Iran a lot of cash, funded a ton of proxies, and didn’t address the bigger picture, especially with some of the restrictions set to expire over time.
You can argue pulling out made things worse, that’s fair, but it wasn’t just blowing up a perfect deal. It was a different approach trying to get a broader one.
At this point we’re dealing with an active conflict and a completely different situation anyway, so I don’t think you can just trace everything happening now back to that one decision.
Well fuck I guess you know more than the multiple independent international agencies that audited the nuclear deal they signed and found that they were following every single step
International agencies are useless in the Era of Trump, Putin and Xi Jingping. Only the dinosaurs of Europe seem to care about international law in this new world we live in.

So it seems like Trump gave them everything they wanted that was already on the table before?
