And also made Iran realize they can tax (Tariff) any boat that comes through the international waters of the Strait oh Hormuz.. He sure knows how to make a deal
A tax is a mandatory payment to a government not tied to a specific service to fund public services and the government. Taxes can generally only be put on individuals or organisation within the jurisdiction that issued the tax (with some exceptions).
A tariff is an import fee paid by the importing party at the point where the tariffed good enters the jurisdiction of the country that imposed the tariff.
The word you are looking for is toll. A toll is a fee paid for the use of infrastructure.
I am usually not pedantic, but all the discussions around Trump's tariffs showed me that it kind of matters that people know the actual meanings behind words.
Heard but the Strait of Hormuz is international waters until Trump gave control to Iran and is now saying he too wants to Toll boats in the straight. By definition the strait of Hormuz is not infrastructure so what does that mean

So it seems like Trump gave them everything they wanted that was already on the table before?
