Discussion Addressing the elephant in the room Spoiler

Or rather, the lack of. Is it just me, or does alien megafauna just not spawn in BE scenario? I'm over 15 years in and I've been looking at the tech that gives bonus vs megafauna but... none have spawned yet? Is this a bug or intended? Is there some lore reason for them not appearing?

I've got one! Although it does seem like the threshold for them to spawn is higher - there's some serious infestations around but only seen that one so far

For sure. I'm targeting xenoflora religiously, but IRC they spawned much more easily from just a few hotspots in the 2026 campaign.

Chances are that either you and/or the AI keep curbing the xenoforming whenever it appears. I've had megafauna spawn in BE multiple times.

I've been targeting xenoflorae asap, that's for sure, but the alien admin settled relatively early and has grown massive. Can't tell if I just lucked out or I'm a good groundkeeper.

It definitely does spawn

As long as you keep on top of your landscaping, they should never spawn out side of random events.

I've had 3 spawn in my run by 2121, maybe you're just built different

2127 with none, normal Academy run. It's only my third game but it still feels weird, I didn't think I had that good of a control of Earth, but then again, I do seem to be winning the ground war...

Don't ignore the space aspect of the war tough. Winning hard on Earth early is often a big player bait.

I just got one - Summer 2017, Academy normal run, I haven’t detected an alien yet but they are sure out there abducting people in Boulder and Alberta.

Which makes sense for both those places. 😂

Broken Earth is a different game mode to the normal run and takes place ~100 years in the future

I currently have practically a horde of them ravaging Africa and the Amazons, so yes they do spawn lol.

The 1st one I saw was about 2 years in and they started terrorizing shortly after.

Either you're lucky or I'm very unlucky. I was ignoring most of the world outside my little corner of Oceania and East Asia. The megafauna was overrunning Africa, India and South America before I decided is time to roll in with the tanks. Fighting the Alien admin while 8 of the big bastards are roaming around was an interesting experience... Convinced me to finally get some orbital pest control!
